When would we ever even see the "real" Mandarin anyway? Probably never.

No, it's not back-pedaling. So there.

The more I think about IM3 and AHTK, the more my appreciation for how they handled "The Mandarin" grows. Everything related to The Mandarin in the comics is filled with retcons, inconsistent characterization, and um, quite a bit of nonsense. Now, knowing what we do after AHTK, I love the fact that they've paid homage to the comics' inconsistent exploration of Mandarin's legend/back-story/characterization, and yet completely avoided any in-movie-universe inconsistency. Truly masterful.

Also, I think we'll see The Mandarin in the future. Marvel would be stupid to pull the plug on Iron Man as a franchise. With or without Downey, the Iron Man franchise will go on. Whether that is via a re-cast or having another character take up the mantle.

I just watched "All Hail The King". Probably the most entertaining One-Shot so far. I'm really wondering where they're going to go with the whole Mandarin thing.

It isn't really backpedalling being as everything in the movie stays the same.
It doesn't diminish the significance of Killian in my eyes, hell he will live on through AIM which might bring about a significant threat in the MCU.

Agreed, but somehow it seems weird to have the "Mandarin" again. I suppose if the public would put up with Lex Luthor multiple times, it's possible. I'd see it....though I'd be less thrilled if it's the same writer(s) as IM3.

I'd love if marvel did a punisher, Blade, or ghost rider one shot. I know chances are slim though. It'd give a totally different feel to one shots, and kinda give a sneak peek into a different corner of the mcu.

How about throwing a couple of suggestions together and have a Crossbones one-shot with a cameo from Punisher ..... one thing I definitely don't want to see when they bring Castle back is a fourth failed attempt at his backstory.
Keep it the same as the comic and only in flashback.

The problem with Hulk related is that you can't do Hulk on a one-shot budget, so it'd really just be a tease. I'd enjoy it, not sure who else would.
