Man why not just go back to classic What if with the Watcher? I bought the last 2 what ifs with Namor and the russian Fantastic Four and it was the worst crap I have ever read!

I suppose. As I said, I'm an idealist. I'd probably undo most of the cheap monymaking schemes the industry has produced, like varient covers and multiple comics about the same character with no difference between any of them in terms of concept.

There was an issue of Slingers I think, where they had variants that focused on each character, but it had extra content in each that focused on the character that was on the cover. Now that would be worth the extra cash for a variant. To get the same story, but from a different perspective.

Yeah. Each issue one was told from a different POV. That's what varient's should be. Varient content instead of just varient covers.

How about they make What if: The Other, Disassembled and Enemy of the State never happened? In fact make it an ongoing, I think everyone would buy that.

I bought all four. I'm sure I wouldn't have if Slingers came out when I was older, but at the time I was really excited about reading each character's perspective. As it turns out, Ricochet's issue was really the only one worth buying.

As for the What Ifs, I'll probably buy the one for The Other, just to see if PAD could actually have made a good story out of it. I doubt it, but we'll see. The Enemy of the State arc is just ridiculous from top to bottom. Wolverine stays programmed and after a year there's only "a handful of heroes" left to stop him? What, does this What If take place on a world where the superheroes are tragically ******ed or something? There are several teams that would've banded together pretty quickly to bring Logan down for his own good--the X-Men, the New Avengers, Alpha Flight--and even more individual superheroes who could take Wolverine down with ease.

Marvel has over 100 issues of What If? that focus on "classic" stuff. I'd rather see them do some new ones than give us more things based on the Dark Pheonix saga.

These sound interesting. Disassembled and Enemy of the State are both good possible buys for me, while the Other sounds interesting, too. I like that PAD is doing it. I really like when the writer (and artist, sometimes) of the original storyline does the What If? for it. Miller's DD What Ifs were awesome, and I really liked Bendis and Gaydos on the Alias one.

Which one was that? The What if Jessica Jones was an Agent of SHIELD one? I never read it, dont plan to.

Yeah, it was basically an issue of Bendis stroking his own ego by implying that if his creation were a member of SHIELD, she would've been attached to the Avengers and she, being the embodiment of perfection in all its myriad forms, would've seen Wanda's psychosis developing where her friends of roughly a decade or more could not and prevented Disassembled from ever happening. Oh, and she also would've swept Captain America off his feet and generally been the envy of all her peers. But not in that mean, jealous sort of way, more in an admiring--no, fawning--sort of way because everyone loves her.

The point was that having someone else there (a private investigator, no less), might have helped. It's funny how P.I.'s can pick up things that the closest friends often can't.
