Although, I would be willing to sacrifice a few of my favs from the first game if it meant a few new characters got added in that were fun to play as and had cool moves.
Yes, I'm sorry My Team, but I would sell you down the river if it meant I could play as Namor, Firestar, Crystal and Vision

Namor and Vision are a MUST! it was outrageous enough Namor wasn't in the first game...no love for the golden age anymore!

For real, what the blank? When I got to the Atlantis level I thought maybe he was going to be an unlockable....and he wasn't and I was mighty sore about it too!

I'm guessing they'll want to include new characters simply for name appeal and to get people to buy it, which makes it likely they'll drop some characters too (since it takes time, energy and money to program each character). That isn't necessarily a bad thing - I could see them dropping characters either for plot reasons (not involved in the Civil War - Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Thing, etc.) or for popularity reasons (Moon Knight). In much the same way as XML I and II had different characters, MUA I and II could have different line-ups and have different feels to them.

I just started playing XML II again, and you're right; it is much more fun than MUA.

yeah, after this game was announced a few months ago I did a XML and XML2 runthrough, and I had SO MUCH FUN! They are just far superior to MUA in almost every way, except for....graphics? maybe only sightly, but either way, they need to take a cue from those game and get back on the RPG side of action-rpg.

Personally, I think that the only reason the graphics weren't as good as they should've been, is because the in-game character models were so much bigger than XML2, which just annoyed me. They should reduce the size of the hero models down to about XML-scale, and bring back the cel-shading.

You know, that's a good point, with smaller characters perhaps MUA2 won't seem like such a clusterf_ck of melee happening on the screen to the point where you cant tell what's going on two feet ahead of you.
Also, if enemies in the nearby area were shown on the map or with arrows (like the ones that show your teammates) it would help you prepare a little more for what was to come, taking into account the fact that HOPEFULLY mua2 will be harder than the first and we will have to consider how to take on enemies and not just be able to rely on punch punch punch combos through the whole fricken game.

Im glad to see someone else love the cel shading. I thought it looked much better than the 3d models of MUA, not to mention ran better. It really gave the game more of a comic book feel. Running on the 360 and PS3, they could do some amazing stuff with cel shaded models, and not the simplistic stuff they had on the PS2/Xbox which was limited by the technology then.

I agree, the cel-shading made it look like comicbook-ish while the more realistic models made it look like the were attempting to duplicate real people, and no matter how hard they tried, those tiny sprites were never going to look like real people an shouldn't, they are comicbook heroes.
I raise my hand for cel-shading.

I also liked the cel shaded look of XML and XML2, it did give the games a real comic book feel. If they went the cel shading route again though I'd like to see improved cel shading.

I think it would look much better on the PS3/360 as those systems can handle alot more. Look at the cel-shading stuff in the Dragonball Z and Naruto games on these 2 systems. Very detailed, beautiful and look like interactive animes. I dont think a cel shaded MuA2 would be the simple models and mitten hand stuff from the last gen consoles.

I think a look similar to Crackdown would kick ass. Naruto and DBZ's cel shading look good, yeah, but naturally they're more cartoonish. This should be a comic book stylized game like Crackdown.

I was just thinking that yeah, Crackdown's cel shading would be perfect.

I didnt even know Crackdown was cel shaded. The new Prince of Persia is another example of cel shading done right and that one isnt cartoonish like the anime series I mentioned

I agree, the new PoP's look is amazing, like next-gen cel-shading should look IMO, I really like it.

I don't know a lot about the details, but I did like the animation style of Ultimate Spider-Man. It looked more like a comic book than any other game I've seen, which was kinda cool. Now, if MUA2 is going for a more "real world" look (like the movies), then they should go a different way; but if they're just looking for a pure comic-book experience, I think that method is the way to go.

that was intentional as they got Mark Bagley, who drew USM at the time to work on the game. They wanted his style and for the game to look like an interactive comic and they succeeded

I was hoping that they'd use the Galactus story and not Civil War. It just seems so limited. But here's hoping Annihilation and Silent War are a part of the game since they all happened at the same time. I can now see them making a Secret Invasion game now. :whatever: Anyway, I'm hoping Namor, Blackbolt, Nova, Sentry(yeah I said it :cmad:)is in the game. When is it suppose to come out?

Before the end of the company's fiscal year, which runs through March 09.

Me too, me too...

you never know, waiting until the world's greatest heroes are too caught up in a petty squable to notice, before moving in and devouring the the planet sounds like a pretty smart plan.
And if we don't have a boss to fight like Galactus or Doom or Thanos, whoever, then that means the last battle will be between two sets of charcters from our own roster? That doesn't sound very climactic. I think there will still be a big bad to fight.

*Whistles the M:UA theme*

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows will most likely be Activision's big holiday game. According to IGN.com, M:UA 2 WILL be out in 2009, later in Activision's fiscal year. The fiscal year of Activision goes through March 2009.

There's no official word on the platforms the game will be on (360, PS3, and Wii are pretty much a given though).

There's still no specific title given to the game (X-Men Legends II has "Rise of the Apocalypse.

According to 1UP.com, M:UA 2 will be based on the Civil War comics.

"In this story, superheroes throughout the Marvel universe are forced to register with S.H.I.E.L.D. if they want to keep fighting crime. The heroes end up splitting into two groups -- pro-registration, led by Iron Man, and anti-registration, headed by Captain America -- and the player will be able to choose which side they fight on in M:UA2."

According to Kotaku.com, the game will over 20 playable characters while will include the Hulk, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Venom, and the Human Torch. You will also be able to "fuse" the powers of two characters to create one character with "hybrid abilities".

Also, according to both 1UP.com and Kotaku.com, the platforms will be PS2, 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP.

Personally, I hope it'll be on PC too, but I'll probably have a 360 or PS3 by then so it should be ok.

Set during Civil War? So that means no Galactus revenge or Thanos?

yay more hero vs hero :whatever:, like we haven't gotten enough of that crap the past couple of years.

This game is going to suck. I'm officially turned off.

(wonder what DC's doing)
