Marvel vs. Capcom 3

The videos I've seen of the new MK game don't really look that much different in terms of being fluid. The fighters still look like they are staggering about to me.

Shuma looks freakin' awesome. I used to hate his inclusion in the MvC franchise because of his D-List status, until I started playing him in MvC2. He looks even better this time around.

Jill? Not so much, especially because she makes Seth's 'BP, GR & IF are too punchy' a load of HORSE S***. ALL of Jill's moves are punches and kicks, besides that weak ass gun hyper. They should of just kept MvC2 Jill in with a revamped moveset (aka saving the zombies for Frank), she could of kept the Crow & zombie dog, but the regular zombies could of been replaced with more weapon moves. She could be in the BSAA costume from the RE5 DLC mission. Would of been a much better decision & it would of made me WANT to use Jill.

I can understand why they went with crazy Jill. Chris plays exactly how a regular RE character should play. Jill's summoning is now Frank's schtick, and suits him much better, as the Dead Rising franchise is known to be goofy.

So, with Jill having no summonings, all she'd have left would be those few combat moves that weren't even very Jill like in the first place. Like that move that is similar to Cap's charging star. The only logical option would be to make her actually play like an RE character. But then she'd only be a female Chris. To the next option is to pick the one incarnation of her, that makes her a unique playable character. And that is crazy Jill.

I'm actually really looking forward to Jill. Her moveset seems to be right up my alley

It's fluid. I played it.

dont be like the guy that reviews games based on videos...lol. Playing the game and watching it are 2 different beasts. Trust those that played it. Its fluid

People need to get over the story crap. Its a ****ing fighting game. I hope people weren't expecting extensive cutscenes like Mortal Kombat vs. DCU.

Fighting games traditionally don't have lots of cut scenes especially 2D fighters. They threw in those four mini-movies on there and those are cool. I don't know what else you really need. Story is pretty simple, Galactus is going to destroy the MU world and Capcom world, you have to stop him.

plus, a game where you can pick heroes and villains on your team ... and while the marvel universe all exists on the same plane of existence... the "capcom universe" does not.. hell... it doesn't even exist.... each franchise has it's own universe. So there's truly no logical way a story could work... MVC2 did it best... i assumed Ruby Hart and her crew were some sort of dimension/universal mystical travelers on there boat... picking up heroes from different worlds to battle an evil threat. This game, without Ruby and her gang... seem to just be thrown in for no reason

There's still no reason for them to waste time forming teams and beating the crap out of each other (and their clones) before facing Galactus.

right. thus why a story makes absolute no sense, if it weren't for the villains in the game, i'd just assume either they are sparing, practicing for the battle... or they just met each other and a fight ensues (like most comic stories)

+ 1

This I can attest to. I saw videos of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 online and it didn't impress me. Then I saw it in person and it did impress me.

It's not the actual STORY that we want, it's the exporation/story mode we want.

You know, something other than Arcade Matches - which is just about all this game has to offer.

how would that mode differ? arcade mode is pretty much story mode. Not sure how you're wanting it if you don't want an actual story....

I didn't mean I didn't WANT a story, I meant whatever the story was, I don't really care - I just wanted another mode.

Liek how Soul Calibur had a kick ass campaign like mode and a weapon master mode. MK vs DC has it's 2 long ass story modes. Tekken has it's career mode, so on and so forth.

This game just has Arcade style fighting, and a poorly executed tutorial system where you have to go into the options every time to see what you're supposed to do.

Make sense now?

but the game, unlike the others... is based HEAVILY on the idea of a classic fighting arcade game. that's what it is.. and how it's always been. I mean.. it'd be cool to have all that, but not in a Marvel vs Capcom game... I'd expect that more in Marvel vs DC or Marvel vs Mortal Kombat, etc... this game just isnt the same.. and i'd rather there only be a story if it somewhat made sense for there to be one...

I think instead of just Arcade Mode, this game should have had one Story Mode (the story wouldn't need to be deep, just apparent) where the difficulty slightly increases for every match like in Arcade Mode. Then there should be a VS. Mode where you not only could chose to play vs. another controller but also versus the computer where you chose difficulty, time, characters and just play one match and then chose to rematch or select new characters etc. Like in SSF4.

Because I think it's pretty annoying that when you play Arcade Mode, you chose a difficulty but it still increases for every match so you can't really control at all what kind of opponent you want to face off. Let's say if I pick Hard, I don't want to battle someone at almost Very Hard just because I won some matches. That's how I feel anyway.

I think the issue isnt simply that it doesnt have a story mode but just how bare bones it is as far as overall modes go. Its pretty much just Arcade, Mission and Online which is the multiplayer form of Arcade. I was hoping for more and the only thing we can hope is that they do add more, especially on the offline side

This is pretty much how I feel. Lack of replays and spectator mode is also pretty lame. I still would have liked to have seen some proper cut scenes though.

Complaining about a lack of story in a fighting game!?!?

Wow....

Pretty valid when the people creating and publishing the game touted how much more they were focusing on the story this time, as opposed to the other entries in the series.

Meh, publisher's tout stuff all the time. I'm surprised that it's such a big deal, as the story really should be "Go here, beat up manz!"

That's all the story we need in a fighting game.

It's just a lack of variety really. You've got arcade mode and mission mode. And if you have the money to go online, you have online. That's it.

I would have liked an additional game mode of some sort, kinda like how Super Smash Bros Brawl had that Subspace Emissary thing. I still love MvC3 regardless though
