Marvel's Big Three?

Any DC "event" with a layout of all their heroes always has Sup/Bat/WW in the front. Just go to any Marvel "event" comic where they have a layout of 90% of their universe and see who's in the center of the pic.

It'll be Captain America for sure - Wolverine also seems to get in the front of the pack as well in those pics lately. Spider-Man well ought to be in the front as well but they usually have him swinging in on the top.

On top of Ms. Marvel and Storm, I've been reading some things from Marvel writers and editorial that suggest that Marve's gearing to make She-Hulk the "Wonder Woman" of the Marvel Universe.

I would prefer She-Hulk over Ms.Marvel atleast. Though neither has the ferocity of WonderWoman. I wish marvel would put the spotlight on Thor girl even though shes more like Marvels Supergirl.

Superman > Captain America

Batman > Wolverine

Wonderwoman > Pheonix

Very random. But its only true if your speaking on popularity. In a fight only the first is true.

She beat champion when everyone else failed using space kung-fu. Space Kung-Fu! I will say no more......

Okay was anyone else thinking of Calvin and Hobbes with
"Bats=Bugs"?

In terms of recognition, I consider Marvel to have a big 5, not a 3:

01. Spider-Man
02. Captain America
03. Wolverine
04. Hulk
05. Iron Man

Mainstream Real World Recognition
Spider-Man
Captain America
Hulk

Mainstream 616 Recognition
Captain America
Iron Man
Thor

DC Counterparts
Superman - Thor
Batman - Daredevil
Wonder Woman - Storm

How can you put Cap above Wolverine for real-world recognition:huh:

Show a picture of both to the average non-comic book reading person and they'll recognize Cap before Wolverine. Not everyone is young enough to have grown up with the X-Men cartoon.

Wolverine is highly more recognised. Cap is below Human torch and Ironman too by real world standards.

No they won't. And the people not young enough for the cartoon have the movie. And the people older than that had the comic when it was hot s**t

What has Cap had. nothing

the all-american superhero is Superman.

Among 10-20 year olds, maybe. But you have to remember there's a LOT of older people in the world.

Cap's had a TV show in the 70's. Has Wolverine ever had a pop culture TV show? No. He's had three hugely successful movies, but they're geared for a specific audience.

When determining recoginizability, I think of people like my grandparents. They would pick Cap over Wolverine in a heartbeat.

But Wolverine is still more popular. There are more people who know Wolverine through comics, movies, games, and several cartoon series than they know about Captain america through the same method.

you need to get out into the real world, PJ:cmad:

Comics Fact: more X-Men fans than Cap fans.
Movies Fact: more X-Men fans than low-budget TV movie Cap fans
Cartoons Fact: more X-Men fans than Cap fans. But Cap had a better theme.

Two X-Men cartoons, btw. A third coming, with Wolverine in the title. And old people have alzheimer's and can't remember Cap. Fact.

Unless you want the coveted grandma demographic. Fine, have it. Cap is known to grandmas

But look at what you just said. "Movies, comics, games and cartoons". You rule out the great majority of people who don't play games, read comics, watch cartoons or care for superhero movies.

I'm saying mainsteam recognition, not minority recognition.

Like I mentioned, you rule out the vast majority of people worldwide who care not for comics, video games, ect.

Think about it: How many news reports would there be if Wolverine died? None. How many when Cap died? Thousands.

Its the year 2000. The majority does all of those things(play video games, watch cartoons, and watch movies.)

Haha. No. They don't. And like I mentioned above...how many news stories would there have been if Wolverine died. None.

And it's not the year 2000, bud.

There would be news reports if Wolverine died. And maybe not. Maybe it's because he isn't an "American icon". He doesn't have America in his name. But Superman is the American superhero. He just is. That's what people think of. Not Cap. He's #2. However, when people think of "badass superheroes," their mind goes to Wolvie.

Also, about your old persons perspective. All those old people know Wolverine when they take their kids to the movies, sit them in front of the tv, or buy them toys. Or buy them delicious Marvel Super-Heroes rocket pops. By Popsicle

Wolverine is on loads more candy and stuff. There are X-Men fruit snacks out right now.:o

And Cap wasn't on a pop smash tv show.:whatever: It's not like he had a Batman or Incredible Hulk level of popularity.

Hey, I wish Cap was more recognized than Wolvie. But it ain't so.

I think you need to recheck that.

And there weren't many stories about Spider-man's death even though he is a FAR more popular character. Its all on how Marvel hypes up the death.

Also, I meant its the 2000's, y'know like saying its the 90's.

I would've thought that real world recognition would have been:

Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine.

But now that I think about it, maybe Captain America would take Wolverine's place. If you had a someone who had never read or watched a single Marvel based form of entertainment and handed them a picture of Wolverine and Captain America, chances are they would be able to guess Cap just from his costume. Along with his name being used more so than Wolverine.
