Have you ever wondered what it would be like if DICE, the makers of Battlefield, used their FPS expertise in another franchise? Turns out you dont have to wonder, as BioWare has enlisted the Swedish-based developer to help out in Mass Effect 3! (via Belgium gaming magazine CHIEF).
To be more precise, DICE will be helping out BioWare in regards to Mass Effect 3s guns. The sound it makes, the environments its fired in to, details of bullets in space, and taking into account the distance a bullet can travel are a few of the things DICE is helping with.
Not a bad move from BioWares part seeing as DICE is renowned for their audio work and Bad Company 2s bullet drop shooting mechanic.
Both studios are owned by EA, so this really shouldnt come as a surprise to anyone, particularly since DICE themselves use the ANT motion capture technology from EAs FIFA series in Battlefield 3.
This is still very intriguing stuff, no? Can we count on BioWare helping DICE out in Battlefield 3s progression and leveling system? Probably not, but its always a treat to see mega studios helping each other out.
