Agreed. How could people hate it? It's freaking John Williams! I don't even like Superman though I have to admit, this is a very good movie.

Please, Matt, tell me what other films you're going to critisize so I don't have a heart attack each time I read it.

Just answer me this: Are you going to critisize "Jaws?"

I'm juggling between Goldfinger and at Kanon's request 2001 for my next movie with Lord of the Rings as a possible dark horse...I was considering Serenity...cause I know how cherished that movie is...but...when you take away all its undue praise (people call it the best movie ever? really?), it is really good. Plus not enough people have seen it to make it worth trashing :csad:

The film is underated. It's only overated on these boards. And seeing how this film is the reason that many people like superheroes, critiquing it is like hitting people in the nuts. And I am pretty sure that people don't love this because of the film quality, I don't think anyone argues that it is the godfather, but there are plenty who enjoy watching it more than the Godfather.

So you're saying The Godfather is better? Agreed. I'll put you down for a worst movie.

Criticize a movie that deserves it for God's sake. :csad:

What about Crash or Monster's Ball? It's A Wonderful Life? Training Day? 21 Grams? Cold Mountain?

smh...

Time for me to insult another classic movie...this time, a fanboy favorite...Superman the Movie:

What a pile of crap.
STM is actually pretty good. Great for it's time and still good for the most part today. I won't waste my time with a lengthy retort to your post. The thread title doesn't leave any room for discussion.

And do you know what we call stage acting in America? Communist acting. Why don't you support the troops, pinko? :cmad: :cwink:

But yeah, I stand by what I said. There is no denying that Superman stalled his film career and he probably would not have been remembered or idolized by fanboys and the mainstream media if it had not been for his accident. We wouldn't have seen such an effort to clone him for SR. He would not be considered the definitive Superman were it not for the mythes that surround him. Us Superman fans would still be looking for our Bale.

Still looking for a movie worthy of John Williams' score.

Superman still stands up as one the greats in the superhero film genre.

I do have to say that, even as a kid, I never liked Hackman's Lex Luthor. I love Hackman, but not how he played it, or how it was written.

john williams scored the graduate?

read my post...better

I'm surprised Matt, you aren't doing Godfather, since I remember you saying that Pirates of the Caribbean was like better or more entertaining.

Hollywood should hire Matt as megalo-consultant, he knows how to make perfect, excellent movies, WB should get him to supervise the next Superman movie, problem solved. :oldrazz:

;)

Reeves performance as Clark and Superman was the only good thing about the movie.

Finally, someone gets it :cwink:

No, I love The Godfather. I simply said Pirates of the Caribbean was a more FUN movie.

Yes, yes they should.

Reeves performance as Clark and Superman was the only good thing about the movie.

His performance as Clark is one of the worst parts of the movie.

I too do not get all the fuss about Superman: The Movie. It's okay but not the greatest movie or superhero movie in the world. I also didn't like the Clark Kent portrayal. The bumbling bafoon got old real quick.

I much preferred Dean Cain's Clark Kent. He was mild mannered; when I think of mild mannered, I don't think of the bumbling that Reeve's Clark was. Whereas Cain's Clark was dorky and seen as a nobody 'farmboy' by Lois Lane just as much, he wasn't over the top clumsy. But his Superman isn't even remotely in line with Reeve's.

Superman: The Movie deserves all its' praise. Its been exactly 30 years and it still holds up with the times. I don't think any other Superman franchise (i.e. with a new director) can continue. Which is probably the main reason why Superman Returns had a infamous backlash. The last Superman movie was in 1987! They finally come back and just give the fans a Donner tribute film of sorts.

Blasphemy!!! You're killing me, you know that? Do you have any idea that you're killing me?
