Iñarritu would be a good choice, now that I think about it.
He has described superhero films as "cultural genocide".

Nah, that relationship genuinely feels like it's mostly on Affleck as he bit off more than he can chew, how he deals with failure + the barrage of inquiries toward him when he feels it's not relevant for the moment. Plus, w/e personal strife he's currently going through.Sadly though, they had Affleck and likely ran him off with their meddling.
We NEED a Michael Mann Batman film.

I get the all "cultural genocide" angle that Iñárritu talked about, but at the same time is a very naive and limited way of looking at it.He has described superhero films as "cultural genocide".
I sometimes enjoy them because they are basic and simple and go well with popcorn. The problem is that sometimes they purport to be profound, based on some Greek mythological kind of thing. And they are honestly very right wing. I always see them as killing people because they do not believe in what you believe, or they are not being who you want them to be. I hate that, and don’t respond to those characters. They have been poison, this cultural genocide, because the audience is so overexposed to plot and explosions and **** that doesn’t mean nothing about the experience of being human.
If you observe the mentality of most of those films, it’s really about people who are rich, who have power, who will do the good, who will kill the bad. Philosophically, I just don’t like them.
This, if you look at it as less than an over-statement, it makes no sense. And they are honestly very right wing. I always see them as killing people because they do not believe in what you believe
The writings were on the wall, but I think we're closing in on a time where auteurs like him will definitely never touch these properties so long as it's meticulously coordinated by the studio system.Iñarritu is perfect for this universe sans Suicide Squad.
It's still possible to have self-contained series and connected universes simultaneously. I just think the creatives behind the likes of JL should conform to the visions of the directors behind the solo IPs. Right now it seems like it's the other way around. It's funny cause I imagine in say a decades time people will want self contained trilogies again with these characters. Everything goes round in circles.

This way there's only one primary team which has to worry about the story and character logistics melding well together. Not a half dozen separate teams all feeling like they're sacrificing their voice to satisfy another.

I've always been of the opinion WB should have stuck with that from day one. That would actually be something different to what Marvel is doing, and would have worked out a lot better IMO. DC characters are iconic enough to stand on their own two feet. They don't need a shared universe. Independent trilogies should have been the template, as laid down by TDKT.

Well even though I wanted an interconnected universe I have to admit I wanted a Superman trilogy more.
t: I was quite gutted when they announced BvS. Not just because I felt it was way too close to The Dark Knight, but because I wanted a Superman trilogy! Such a pity.Man, the DCEU really brings out the ugliness in people.

DC is the only brand I know that's so well known for its elseworlds.
Will confuse the heck out of the GA, but you will always have a constant supply of merchandise to make and sell.
No one stays good in this world
