Ok... First, the fact that you guys were worried is really touching.

Sorry, I fell off the face of the SHH boards, but I didn't just target this site.

I've been nearly internet-social-networking-free for months, because I started a new job abruptly in march and I've been working 45-50 hours a week.

Which is a really really good thing.

I've been working for a big company here in Columbus, OH doing software development, and I just found out late last week I am getting hired on as an employee with full benefits, so I FINALLY feel like I can take a breath.

Life, I THINK, will be returning to normal.

Sorry for leaving you guys guessing, but even my IRL-friends got into the habit of just hearing from me between 5pm on friday and 8pm on sunday.

Everything else is good, and I just picked up work (VERY slowly, but surely) on a not-so-new piece (it's been dragging, for obvious reasons).

I'm currently working on a teen-redesign piece based on some of Disney's best female villains.

Here's flat color versions of Ursula from 'The Little Mermaid' and Maleficent from 'Sleeping Beauty'.

Side note: This doesn't reflect the actual layout.

id consider getting rid of Maleficient's head piece... maybe style her hair up to resemble it... i dunno. it just looks kinda silly with her outfit.. .that's kinda how i feel about ursalas shirt... she lives underwater..... it just doesn't really fit for me...

well.. i ran out of steam on the disney piece.

First of two updates.

I've done a bit more work on this xmen piece, but given how little time I have to draw and how long this piece is taking, I'm gonna take a break and switch to do work on my xmas card.

Here's the last update on this piece till the card is done.

I did some work on Rogue and Colossus...

So, I'm taking a break on the xmen piece to get the ball rolling on my 2010 xmas card...

This year I think it's gonna go out to some work people so I'm trying to walk the line of appropriate but with a slight edge.

I'm doing a Robot-themed card, and the concept follows:

It's Robo-Santa and Robo-Rudolph giving the gift of a battery to a little Robo-Kid, but the slight edge is that one of Santa's arms is labeled 'nice', and the other is labeled 'naughty' and is completed with all kinds of weapons...

Not wildly offensive... Right?

Anyway, I've yet to sketch the Robo-kid, but I'd love to hear thoughts on the other two figures.

Here's the layout semi-finalized for my Robo-Santa Christmas card.

As for the text, I want to do a play on "He's makin a list, and he's checkin' it twice".

I thought of "He's makin a list, and he's checkin' it recursively", but that may be too much computer science jargon.

For now, I'm going with "He's makin a list, and he's applying a naughty/nice algorithm... twice".

Thoughts?

I'm too predictable! That's the plan, atm! I'm planing to do it in green metal though, to go along with the color palette I have in mind. I think it will end up having a lot of panels (similar to Rudolph) so it sells as metal.

thanks, man! I'm having fun with the xmen piece. I just had to switch it up so i can get a jump start on the xmas card, because I'm swamped between my job and a new puppy.

HA! That is no accident. I thought about robots as a potential theme, and decided to go with it once I came up with the arms being labeled 'naughty' and 'nice'...

But my FIRST move was to googled Futurama's Robot Santa, so I made sure my Robot Santa had a different look.

But once I covered that base, I TOTALLY geeked out on the little guy and tried to put as much 'Futrama' style in there as possible!

I was trying to knock him out tonight, but his legs have a lot of detail, so I'm calling it quits for the evening.
