Days of Future Past Matthew Vaughn Is NOT Helming X-Men: First Class Sequel

As much as I loved first class I really hope that DoFP focuses more on the returning characters from the original trilogy. Or at least share equal screentime with them.

I personally feel that most of the money on this budget is going to be spent on creating this post apocalyptic future and it would be a waste, and a cheat to audiences if we only got a glympse of this future. I would love Singer or whoever to take time to explore this future, how it has impacted the X-Men and how they have changed since the last time we saw them which was in XMTLS.

I've heard people talk about raising the stakes for this movie and that won't be done effectively if audiences do not believe that this is the X-Men's last desperate attempt at saving the world. Watching OT actors like, Patrick, Hugh, Halle, Anna, Ian, James, Famke and possibly Rebecca interact on screen and show how their lives have changed, maybe they've become resistance fighters, maybe they're not that organised and are just a beaten down group that mount their last attck. whatever the situation this will properly invest audiences into the story and will add weight to the First Class part of the story and on how they need to stop the assassination (or whatever the preventable event is) from happening.

I mean who wouldn't want to see these people return:

i want ian/stewart/logan/famke all back hell even halle i love me some halle lol but outside of fassbender and mcavoy mostly fassbender no one else made a huge impression out of first class

*Raises his hand.

Other then Jackman and maybe Stewart, I don't want any of them back.

Maybe I should change my post to who wouldn't want to see any of these people return

Glad I'm not alone on that. Jackman and Stewart would be cool. I think it would be great seeing old Prof. X passing some wisdom down to young Prof. X.

I want to see BOTH cast.

Even if Id love an X4, I think this sequel should have equal screentime from both cast at the very most.

But Id preffer a 60%-40%. First Class as the lead, and Original cast having a decent screentime, but not the same.

They have to develop how the time traveler arrives on the 60's, how he/she meet the x-men, how Magneto and his team develop the assesination or whatever it is, and how the x-men go in their search and have their big fight too.

They can tell all of this in just 30 min. It would feel rushed, and we dont need that again on a x-men movie.

a 60-40% feels pretty fine. honestly

I'd prefer it if we didn't see any of the original cast(I know most likely this wont be the case). I don't need to see anymore Wolverine. I can catch that character next summer. The rest of those originals I really have no desire to see, mainly because I don't want to be reminded of the awfulness of X3. Give me the FC characters and maybe a new one like Bishop.

Though someone mentioned it on here I think, the idea of Cyclops being the time traveler (and that maybe Phoenix sent him to the dark timeline or to the past instead of killing him as we assumed). That's a pretty nifty idea as well. I'd love to see how he and Alex interacted.

Someone else may have mentioned it as well, but I brought up the idea of Cyclops being the time traveler after having been sent to an alternate timeline by Jean/Dark Phoenix. It could provide a good story for Scott and Alex, but ultimately I’d prefer the time traveler to be someone young like the group we were left with in FC. Kitty (who I agree is forgettable, but it would be an homage to the comics), Rogue, Iceman, or anyone else who fits in with Beast, Havok, and Banshee would be fine with me.

Focusing more on the old cast? That would be my worst nightmare.

This coming from a person who absolutely adores X2. But the original trilogy is in the past now. First Class started new things, and brought in new ideas and new actors. That all these things should be put aside because of fans' nostalgia, or Fox' lack of confidence in the new cast or whatever, is really dreadful.

calm down only people still alive in comics from original trilogy is

kitty
wolverine

I understand your point. Maybe a 55-45 percentage split of screentime with FC cast leading.

Though i would not be angry in theaters if I found out that Hugh/Halle/Famke/Patrick/Ian/Anna etc were in it more than Fassbender/Mcavoy/Lawrence/Jones/Hoult

I love the original cast.It is far superior to that of FC, hope to see emerge to Phoenix from the ashes and take back to the goddess Famke.

I knew it would happen today!!!! Yesssss

:cries:

That is some great news! I love Bryan Singer and X2 is still the best X-Film imo.

It's Stewart and McKellen for me. Other than that, I don't really want to see anyone return.

I think that the idea of splitting the screentime equally or even 60-40 between the two casts and making the movie into some kind of X-Men: The Greatest Hits is terrible. Effectively, it's like trying to squeeze two movies into one and the outcome is likely to be a convoluted mess.

god yes i am so happy the man who gave us the best x men film to date has returned
