Yep, it was actually a pretty interesting scene.
Care to describe it? In spoiler tags of course.
Yep, it was actually a pretty interesting scene.
No you shouldnt have. That scene just pissed me off more, because the game was able to handily take care of that loose end the first f**king time. Most of the scenes this movie took from the game were ruined. Roscoe Street Station was made into a boring 2 minute thing where he doesn't even kill anyone, the helipad scene was anti-climatic as hell, and how the f**k did Mona know where he was during the Aesier shoot out??? And why did they totally change what Valkyre does? And why is Lupino hispanic instead of Russian, and not a mobster? Argh, useless changes, almost to the point of the Resident Evil movies.
I thought I was the only one who thought it was dumb that Mona magically shows up at the end there. And she's like "Max you have to finish this!"
...how the hell does she even know what's going on or why he's even there?
I liked it, flick was fun and solid. My only two issues were 1) that it was never clear what Mona did for a living, despite her line "You know what I do for a living." Um, no I don't. And the other issue was just that Max takes a LOT of gunshots during the ending and keeps on tickin'.
People are getting irked off, because the movie did'nt follow the game to a tee? Shocking aint it that they don't follow the game/comic to the letter, ppl should know by now that it just don't work that way.
The movie is just based off the game,so u gotta let the director/producers put their own touch to it.
I'll admit I only played the first game, and that was years ago, so I don't remember much of the plot. So, maybe I'm lucky or something, lol. I like these type of movies, and coming from a movie POV it was very slow for the first half of the movie. I wished they would of made him more angry/disturbed as they tried to portray him. If they would of had a few more action sequences at the beginning of the movie it would of been a decent movie..
It is much harder to make a movie based on a game than on a comic book or tv series. With the former you have maybe one or two franchise parts to compel a 90 + minute story out of, and there is barely any canon, except fan fiction. The latter there many books and entries focusing on character, backstory, etc. Even with graphic novels, those are just storyboards for Hollywood to use for the most part. It's hard to do...hell, even though Midway created a massive ****ing universe for Mortal Kombat we only got mediocre movies and tv shows.
Aren't pepole able to write characters and story anymore? What are screenwriters for?

Agreed! Damn, I told my friends there was probably a scene after the credits!God dammit I knew I should've stayed after the credits...
She plays Natasha Sax, Mona's (Mila Kunis) sister. Unfortunatly, she doesnt have a huge part.So who does Olga play?
Movie was a piece of **** waste of time.
It wasn't even a good cliff notes version of the game. Lame, phoned in performances. Lots of disjointed stories and characters.
The problem was, this never really felt like a real movie. It felt like there were just patches of movie-like things in it, but very glued barely held together. It was very b-movie esque. And this is why video game movies generally suck. I expect the new Chun Li movie to be the same way.
People teed off about it not being like the game. I mean the games aren't spectacular games, but they are fun.
The movie had NONE of what was entertaining and cool about the games. The film noir voice over? Gone. The hard boiled graphic novel influences? Gone. Creepy, twisted, disturbing, and horrific elements? Gone and replaced with some crappy CG of winged valkyries.
One of the most hilarious things about the movie to me. Early in the movie when offered a cigarette, Markie Mark says he doesn't smoke! LOL! Strike 1. In the game, Max is a habitual smoker. He's trying to quit after his baby is born. Early in the game before the terrible thing happens, he says "it's his last one".
This is so Hollywood/20th Century Fox to me. Can't have the hero smoking in a PG-13 movie. But you can have him killing bad guys, butchering them with guns. Practically torturing perps. Also voluntarily ingesting a performance enhancing, hallucenogenic drug. But you can't have him light up a ****ing cig, HILARIOUS!
The other problem was, I was never once disturbed or cared about what happened to Max. It didn't make you feel the tragedy or anguish of his past. The flashbacks of the tragedy feel very hollow and dull. In the game they are very creepy, arresting, and disturbing when you go to his home and these almost zombie like schmucks are there and I think you even see something bad happened to the baby's cradle. No mention of the baby's fate is really even touched upon. It's like the baby disappeared without a trace.
John Moore, IMHO, with this film has solidified his career as a mainstream studio hack director as well as a yes man. Especially with his, "You can't show R-rated trailers in front of PG-13 movie" ********. Also, "My name is John Moore, not John Less." We have another freaking Brett Ratner here.
Also in the game, the wife was an actual character. One of the big points was that Michelle was trying to TELL Max something, that he just didn't get or pay attention to and that was freaking important.
So much of this movie was spent on the lame mystery and conspiracy that's all totally telegraphed. When the shootouts and fights happened they were just really quick and dull.
In the game Max is forcibly injected with the drug because the bad guys were trying to overdose him and kill him. Max goes on a terrible hallucination where he's confronted with some creepy f'ed demons of his past instead of all the stupid winged valkyrie BS that reinvigorates him to go after BB.
Climax was so disappointing. The game ties up all the loose ends, but they still did a sequel. Are you kidding me, try and set up a sequel where they go after the woman? Lame movie.
John Moore is one of the worst directors working today. No wonder Fox hires people like John Moore and James Wong to do their big tentpoles. They don't want good, creative talented directors anymore.
