May 2006 Hardware and Software sales: The Empire Strikes Back

NOT TO MENTION THE UNDENIABLE FACT THAT 'TLOZ:TP' IS ACTUALLY A WII LAUNCH TITLE. IT'S NO COINCIDENCE THAT THEY'RE DELAYING IT FOR OVER A YEAR; THEY KNEW THE 'GC' WAS DEAD, AND NEEDED ANOTHER FRANCHISE HIT TO AID THE 'WII' LAUNCH. SMART MOVE, BUT IT KINDA SUCKS FOR THE FANS, I'D IMAGINE. :o
I was going to buy a GC for when that game would come out, but it's been delayed so much it's lost the impact. I keep forgetting Miyamoto isn't the project lead (it's the same guy who did Majora's Mask and Windwaker) and that E3 showing made the game look more "wierd" than "magical".

Except for the fact that TP is going to be amazing.

TP will most likely be the best game of this generation. GC, Wii or whatever.

PERHAPS THE BEST OF IT'S GENRE........BUT IT'LL HAVE A TON OF COMPETITION EVEN THERE.

RE4 really was great so yeah, maybe Twilight Princess won't be as good.

I just hope the GC version isn't a watered down port.

The Revolution version is the port, not the Gamecube version. I'll be getting the Gamecube version unless they change things from E3 and offer omg stuff in the Wii version over the Gamecube version (which would never happen). If there's one series I don't want to use the wand for, it's Zelda. I'll wait for a Zelda game that is made from the ground up for the Wii, not a gamecube game that's been modified to work with the Wii controller.

Yeah. But I have the feeling that most reviewers will ignore the GC version.

Are the graphics that much better for the Wii? It's GC version for me anyway, I just want to know and every screenshots I've seen were in the two sections Gc and Wii.

SO, THEY REALLY ARE MAKING 2 VERSIONS? THAT'S KINDA SILLY, ISN'T IT? WE ALREADY KNOW THAT SOME GAMES ARE PLAYABLE WITH A STANDARD CONTROLLER AS WELL, SO WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST DO THAT?

You just convinced me to do the same :o

Well there are rumors that the GC version will run at 60fps. But to answer your question: It makes them more money this way. ;)

dont care im still getting the wii and the wii version of twilight princess and maybe red steel. i'll also pick uprayman raving rabbids.

actually the wii version will run at 60 fps and so will metroid prime 3.

But why does there have to be that stupid fairy pointer on screen 100 percent of the time, it's the most annoying thing ever, and I never foudn Navy annoying in the first place.

So yes, Gamecube version for sure.

ARE YOU POSITIVE THIS TIME........SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO FLIP-FLOP ONCE MORE? :p

I've never said I was getting the Wii version, like ever. :o

Is there a chance that Nintendo will make the GC version suck just to make us buy the Wii one?

the wii version will be better because its presented on a widescreen 16:9. and the eii version will take advantage of the graphicalpower from the wii.

That doesn't say I'll be getting the Wii version of Twilight Princess. All I said was I'll wait for a real Wii Zelda game to pick up on the Wii, not using the Wii controller for a game that built around the GC, so I'll be getting the Gamecube version and playing it on the Wii using the traditional controller, since they won't give me that option with the Wii version ******edly enough.

IMO, the rev controller looks most appealling as an extension or representation of something, and in that context the only thing that seems to work for the Wii version of TP is the fishing game. IMO

Both versionbs of TP look identical at this point.

if they announce improved graphics, 60FPS, widescreen, and controller support for the Wii version, that's the only point that I'll say "Yeah I'm getting the wii version".

The Wii control implementation for TP is not appealling to me at all. I hope they seriously rework it for future itterations.

you just reminded me that what she said doesnt really make sense either. would you stop playing splinter cell because it's not built for the gamecube, but built for the rest of the systems?!

sighs... in interviews with the game designer you'll be able to do spin attacks and other special attacks using the wiimote. you make it sound as if the wiimote wont do anything.

Navi is also an exclusive to the Wii....not that it makes a difference. You'll also be able to hear the arrow leave the Wiimote and hit the target. I know that's not amazing but to say the Wii version does nothing with the Wiimote is goofy, I mean, we seen it do stuff with the Wiimote at E3.

Seriously, if your getting a Wii....and you have Zelda pre-ordered for Cube, having GameStop/EB switch the pre-order to the Wii version won't be that stinking hard.

"Sighs..."

I didn't say anything about not being able to do swing attacks and watch the E3 stuff on TP to see how it works. There is an undeniable rough implementation going on so far. It's bolting the wii controller onto a game that was designed around a standard controller. There's no real reason to have navy on screen, seeing where the pointer is every second isn't necessary, as it stands it's distracting, annoying, and sloppy implementation. This is like one of those situations as per early DS software where DS touch screen and stylus implementations were doing things that worked just as well and argueably better using the standard controller interface. I have no doubt that they will improve the implmentation with say a Zelda game built from the ground up with the Wii controller in mind, it's those sorts of situations where the Wii, like the DS, will work at its best.

It can be argued that there are certain game styles where a standard controller will just be better, and while Nintendo still has yet to make a real Wii Zelda game, I just feel that Zelda, like Smash Bros, is probably one of those situations. This wouldn't be an admission of failure of the Wii phylosphy, like the Yoshi's Island 2 and NSMB show, you shouldn't have to force controller functionality onto your game just to use it, make the best choices possible for your game period, using a function just to say you used it can be a waste of time and hurt the overall product.

And I'm still getting a Wii on day one.
