This is what I’ve been saying. The model has changed and Box Office is a smaller and less important factor regarding the money and audience for a film now that streaming is a thing, and people stay home rather than going out.
I only saw it once in the theater, but I bought it last Tuesday and have watched it twice since then.
And since there’s no theater to split it with and very little cost for Disney, nearly all of the $30 I spent to buy it is profit.

There is no fatigue in america for example and if china came out(and we all know why china is not coming out as much any more) then the worldwide numbers would be higher and russia is not even playing movies from america because of the war and thunderbolts and captian america 4 would not have flop on the big screen even if they did not make 700 million.

Hollywood is now reaping the consequences of those comments. 
It's not a hit. In the traditional context a "hit" is a definitive success. The pay-off is immediate and doesn't depend on ancillaries down the road to solidify the investment. It's not a bomb like some online are painting it to be, but we don't need to overstate it's performance either.
Ermm…I really disagree with your assessment. The first two FF films from the 2000s were “moderate successes” to borrow your term. First Steps has practically grossed more than both of those movies combined. It was also a critically-acclaimed film that received a high Cinemascore with audiences. And it achieved all of this in a troubled marketplace for its genre. How many more earmarks does one need to qualify as an hit?
Comparing this film with films two decades ago is not really helpful to the argument due to the different cultural and economic factors. Still, if we do go down that road the first Fantastic Four film (2005) made more than First Steps did going off inflation (close to 600m worldwide; 280m domestic).
When you adjust for inflation, that goes both ways. You also have to adjust its budget as well. Regardless, the movie is making Disney/Marvel money. It's broke even essentially at the BO and made a ton on product placement, licensing, etc. Yes, if the barometer of success is it didn't make a billion or whatever, sure. But in a period where BO has been down for Marvel outside a few outliers, First Steps made them decent money
But this sentence I’ve bolded in your comment underscores my point: tickets were waaaayyyy less expensive 20 years ago. In today’s economy, many people cannot afford to take their families to the cinema, let alone multiple times. Additionally, there were no streaming platform options available when the first FF films came out. You either saw the movie immediately, or waited many months for it to come out on DVD. That’s why I purposely didn’t adjust for inflation to honor the circumstances of when those movies came out versus now.
Using that metric, couldn’t we then say that many of the first-installment films in the MCU series aren’t smash hits? And that FF:ST is not only in line with its predecessors, but on the higher end of those successes?
I don't think you can. The shared universe concept on the scale that Marvel was intending had never been done before. It was new and there was genuine excitement at the dynamic possibilities. Now that concept is on the steep decline and the palpable excitement has been replaced by a tired, numbing apathy.
