I don't see anything that will be "the next big thing" with a tent the size of Marvel. It's probably something outside of the traditional media ecosystem. At one point I though it may be video games/gaming that replaces theatrical but that industry is in as much trouble as Hollywood.
I literally just said that lol

I doubt DC will reach the box office heights and popularity of the MCU .

Then again, I doubt Marvel Studios will reach the same heights they did in the Twenty -Teens , i.e. Several films in the Billion Dollar club.

I think certain characters like Spiderman, X Men , Batman and The Avengers , will continue to rack in big numbers at the box office, and audiences will still turn out to see them in the theater.

But I think fans hoping that DC Studios, will reach the heights of Marvel Studios a decade ago , should probably temper their expectations.

I think that era in general, is gone , at least for now.
My concern with X-Men is the political aspect. Up until about 10 years ago it was an asset, that extra bit of spice that separated it from the rest. Today I think it limits it's potential success compared to the other three.

The political aspect of X Men doesn't really concern me .

It runs into a problem if it becomes partisan, since , your general audience will be made up of many political ideologies , but otherwise , X Men will be okay .

They'll always be those online a who may complain ,or try to profit from saying " X Men is too, This or That ", but at the end of the day , they're a vocal minority , and GA won't care when it comes to whether they'll turn out to the theater or not .

If Feige populates the new reboot team with obscure, and less popular X Men characters, for the sake of " being different" ,that's much more likely to limit it's appeal at the Box Office, and GA's won't be all that hyped to see it imo.

Agreed. This is key.

I'm eager to see if Superman returns to that league of guaranteed money makers. All signs point to the 2025 film as potentially being the character's Batman Begins.

While I think Superman 2025 is like Batman Begins in terms of fence mending with the audience , I don't think it will have a TDK level sequel in terms of Box Office.

Superman, as a film franchise, already had it's era where it was a box office juggernaut , and that was when I was growing up in the late 1970s and 1980s , i.e The Christopher Reeve era.

And in all honesty, it's never returned there since Batman 89' , and I'm skeptical another Superman film, even produced by James Gunn, is going to return the character to that level of Box Office heights of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

As a Superman fan, I'm fine with that .

For Superman, the important thing is to continue to get the character right , and to produce good films which, resonate with the GA .

Yes. This. Just stick to a storyline featuring the core four—Scott, Storm, Jean and Logan—name the film, The Children of The Atom, keep it grounded in a “them vs us”…and the franchise will thrive just fine (even in this political climate). Feige just needs to stick with the basics—X-Men doesn’t requiring ANY reimagining.

Similar to the Fantastic 4 - the X-Men ip is a familiar territory especially for Feige who have worked in the earlier X-Men movies. A X-Men movie produced/molded by him is probably way overdue for him. I honestly doubt he could screw it up similar to Eternals and a Sam Wilson movie.

After seeing the Fantastic 4: First Steps, I have no doubts about Marvel Studios' X-Men.
