Fantastic Four is more popular than The Guardians of the Galaxy were when they released overseas (so is Superman) but they aren't going to perform like those films did.

This is a confluence of factors at play, mainly inflation/cost of living (which makes audiences more selective as you stated), genre fatigue, geopolitics (to varying degrees), and the way audiences viewing habits have been conditioned since 2020.

Like I said elsewhere, Deadline was low for Superman by quite a bit. So I am guessing 135-145 domestic and global of like 250-300. Those are my guesses

If FF opened to 135m and it's global total was 190m, that would be 55m overseas, which is 40m less than the Superman and Thunderbolts numbers respectively. A 210m worldwide total would be 75m and 20 million less than those two films.

Overseas is the wildcard so based on recent precedent I won't expect too much.

Jat put his OS marker on 110m+. Said Latin America was looking good, Asia so-so, so sounds like a similar pattern to Superman. Hopefully Europe is better.

If it does 135 domestic and 110 global, that would put it at 245 global. Possibly, and hopefully, higher. Which is a great opening. Superman did 217 global and JWR did 318 global.
