No idea how this film will be looked at long term. But sadly it's coming out in a tough time for the MCU as a brand. At a time where it's paying the price for the bad movies/shows it's released since Endgame. There isn't that implicit trust anymore. It is ironic that Deadpool and Wolverine as a former Fox property got by ok, but F4 hasn't. Maybe because Deadpool was Deadpool and it wasn't a recast while this F4 movie is one made fresh for the MCU.

I think economics and theater going habits isn't that big a factor here. That will impact the greater heights sure. But there are still movies doing big money. It's not like people don't go to see movies anymore. They just didn't want to go see this one in huge numbers.

I voted for it to end up around 500 million and that's where it's ending up. It's pretty decent for yet another new version of the F4 being dropped into the MCU at this point in time. For better or worse the future of this version of the F4 will depend on the coming Avengers movies.

Kind of ironic timing now that they seem to have pressed the "Deadpool" button now on Doomsday going by RR's insta. Guess they were too big not to include as no doubt Hugh will come as a pair for that now, that will generate a bit more buzz than before even before Spidey is seen by anyone.

Kind of ironic that the biggest money spinners for Marvel as of late, come from other studios.

I dont think they're only just NOW hitting the button. I think that button was pushed eons ago, and we are only now confirming it

Ryan waiting until after F4 didn't do big business to add a bit more to his and Hugh's checks. I can respect it.
I dont think it has anything to do with Ryan waiting. When they did the chairs thing, they already said there would be more casting announcements later. Now, whether the time table was moved up or if this time frame was always the plan, who knows. But we already knew Marvel was planning another Chairs like stunt again

Honestly, I have no idea with this movie. I think the big thing here, is they're making it on the fly. They still don't have a finished script and getting that many people under contract with everyone's schedule has to be a thing. I remember reports that there are cast members who are on those chairs who did not know they were going to be on those chairs.

I dont really believe that they didn't know they were in the movie. Maybe they thought their chair was coming later or something, but Marvel has to provide them a time frame to be open for shooting, even if they're not given a script. So they can be available for the movie. So even if they don't know if they will be called, they have to know to have that schedule gap. Should be a good indicator they may be in it. Especially big names like Ryan Reynolds or Hugh Jackman, who are in demand and probably commanding not RDJ salaries but high salaries....they know

Knowing you're probably going to be in the film while in the middle of negotiations, is different then having already been signed. Both still set aside the dates theoretically. Though those have also seemingly changed out of nowhere as well. Including for the press tour.

Its just unfortunate, that the huge box office success of Deadpool & Wolverine didn't really help these 2025 mcu movies. F4 still made records for the F4 brand (ignoring price inflation) and its the highest grossing Marvel movie of the year (for the first time since 2005). But I think these other 2025 mcu movies we got in February and May, didn't make things better for Fantastic 4. Plus all the Superman comparison when clearly Superman is the bigger name, is becoming toxic talk.
Well, the tables will turn on those toxic detractors next year: the roles will be reversed when it's Supergirl vs. Spider-Man. And I'm sure they'll be asking Marvel fans to be..."understanding". :funny:

Someone like Benedict Wong being add late I can believe. Ryan Reynolds is probably making what....10 mil at absolute minimum? Probably closer to 20? Hugh probably more than that if he is in it? That's not chump change I think Marvel is finding under the sofa cushion last minute. That's stuff you square away early

Maybe it's the sports fan in me. But Ryan and Hugh feel like the exact people who wouldn't be signed on and until they decided, because of how much they cost. It would be them negotiating every last dime out of out Disney, especially knowing how much RDJ and the Russos are getting.

Do we know if Halle Berry is coming back? Or Famke?

I should also mention. There are people in Doomsday and SW, probably under multi-film deals, who are contractually obligated to be in it and thus could've been on those chairs and not know they were going to be in the movie.

I have no doubt there was negotiations and maybe come closer to day 1 filming they were not signed but Disney was working on it. But, I don't think FF only making over 400 mil is the straw that got them Deadpool & Wolverine last minute after they were shooting for like 5 months. That is something that would have been worked out early, IMO. We didn't see several big names in the 1st announcement, and I aint buying that Disney added 200 mil of actors in July LOL! Especially since if you get Hugh or Ryan there, you want them in it a lot. Not for a few scenes you slapdashed together

Guys like Anthony Mackie or Simu Lui....sure. Guys who have been there longer or your big pay guys like Ryan Reynolds would be? No lol

The F4 bit was more tongue-in-cheek. Guessing he's going to be seen on set soon. Like Spidey and his flick.

Yeah, not talking about them there. I was thinking of like the new Falcon and a lot of the Thunderbolts.

Yes, those people maybe were less aware. Your people on younger Marvel contracts maybe were. Except the FF. They already should've known, and I think they said at SDCC when RDJ and the Doomsday reveal was made that they were in it. So all 4 of them should have known. But yeah, your Marvel veterans....those people knew and had to negotiate fat contracts lol

The F4 were probably the first signed because it probably came with their F4 deals.

Estimates I see say Hugh made like 20 for D&W and Reynolds made like 30. Yeah, those 2 ain't making much less, if less at all. So that 50 mil ain't found in the sofa money lol!!!
