I know this is speculation but if they only had a meaningful cameo in the movie like Spider Man or Hulk that would have pushed the movie over $300 million guaranteed. Hopefully for the sequel there is a cameo like this

I think if there fewer Marvel movies in the last 12 months, it would have helped.

Given how Fant4stic flopped 10 years ago, its amazing to see Fantastic 4 outgrossing Venom 3, Kraven, Captain America 4 and Thunderbolts.

In my book finishing with $520 million worldwide, which is better than a lot of cbms released over the past couple of years is a win for Marvel, especially for a tainted brand. Its built goodwill for the sequel.

Disney should greenlit Second Steps now.

Hmmm. I dunno. That studio green-lighting anything right now might not be received too well with some people. Disney’s executives have found themselves in their own Target-ish political firestorm. They better figure out how to resolve this Jimmy Kimmel situation quickly: they are losing millions of Disney+ subscribers right now via a boycott.

I agree. Very bad timing. You can download the movie now.
Howard Stern even broke his "not gonna be political" to address the Kimmel situation and him and his crew aside from discussing the obvious, all said they cancelled their Disney + sub over it.
Whatever you think of Stern, there's a reason he's still around and influential to the culture, never got up in the "cancel culture" movement (despite futile efforts by some).
Disney shot themselves in the foot at a time Marvel needs to rebuild.
Between box office, reviews and the Kimmel issue, why would Marvel announce a sequel or speak on anything they haven't already told us til this is a non issue?

Well, apparently there are people at Disney that have forgotten that a sizable majority of their customers believe in “living and let live.” This is especially true with Marvel fans, who often identify with Marvel because of its long-standing mission to embrace everyone in their storylines—no matter their gender, race, sexuality or walk of life. Stan Lee, Kirby, etc., all of these great artists were liberal-minded creators. The X-Men themselves stood for equality, diversity, and freeness of speech. So the idea that Disney would bend to the whims of an authoritarian American President and suspend a comedian for shallow reasons is simply not going to resonate well with its consumer base.

And they are about to learn these lessons in this FAFO era. People boycott with their dollars. The optics are really bad and if I were Disney I wouldn’t release anything about Fantastic Four until this Kimmel thing is resolved.

It seems ,for the time being , Iger has come to his senses, and Kimmel is back tomorrow after the backlash.

It seems Pedro Pascal, in addition to Mark Rufflo, were among the Marvel voices to voice their opposition to what ABC did .

Even if they announce it this week or the other day, the movie isn't coming out till two to three years ago, and by then the issue with Kimmel wouldn't be associated with the film.
