Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

Suicide Squad made a ton of money with a similar premise. So them not being "Loki-level" means nothing.

Joker & Harley. Joker sucked but he was still there in the promo images.

I was just thinking the same thing about the timeline placings of upcoming films, It's going to take some work to keep that neat.

With the other properties in the queue i don't think there's any chance we'll see an Avengers 5 until May 2024, there are just too many solo sequels that need the slots.

That said though I still think they'll stick to the proposed one new property per year so Shang Chi in 2022 will likely happen ..... again it all comes down to where to best place BP2, CM2 and GOTG3 in the schedule.

If Black Panther sticks in February for the Black History Month connection then i think your suggestions work ...... the question would then be though what would we get in 2023-24?

Feb 2023 - Nova OR Thunderbolts?
May 2023 - ???? (This is where we're missing a crowd-puller if BP, CM, SM, AM and GOTG all have their sequels in 2021-22 .... It would have to be either an earlier release for Avengers 5 OR a Waititi-directed Thor 4)
Nov 2023 - Captain Britain And The Black Knight?

Feb 2024 - Thunderbolts OR Nova?
May 2024 - Avengers 5
Jul 2024 - Fantastic Four?

While I think they'll pace themselves with the former Fox properties, I also think the number of releases a year will go up to account for the fact that Fox was releasing about 1 marvel movie a year. The idea being that the market was already handling that volume and therefore should be able to continue to handle that volume.

If it is [Nova] then in terms of spreading the cosmic characters out evenly over the next few years i'd go with this being the release order...

May 2020 - Black Widow
Nov 2020 - Eternals

Feb 2021 - Shang Chi
May 2021 - Captain Marvel 2
Nov 2021 - Doctor Strange 2

Feb 2022 - Nova
May 2022 - Black Panther 2
July 2022 - Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

...hopefully followed by something like...

Feb 2023 - Thunderbolts
May 2023 - GiAnt-Man And The Wasp
Nov 2023 - Eternals 2

Feb 2024 - Fantastic Four
May 2024 - Avengers 5
I'd make a couple changes but I REALLY like this schedule!

My new guesses for this week

2020
May-Black Widow
November- The Eternals

2021
February- The Hands of Shang-Chi
May- Guardians 3
July- Spider-Man 3
November- Doctor Strange 2

2022
February- Black Panther 2
May- Thunderbolts
July- Ant-Man 3

2023
March- Captain Marvel 2
May- Avengers 5
July- Spider-Man 4
November- Nova

2024
Thor 4
The Uncanny X-Men
Captain Britain and the Black Knight
The Silver Surfer

2025
Doctor Strange 3
Fantastic Four
Wolverine
Black Panther 3

Campea didn’t seem to realize the gay character has been confirmed for The Eternals. And I don’t agree with him that Doctor Strange 2 will make the November 2020 slot.

It should have still been on the schedule?
Another Fox movies are on the schedule.
Alan Horn said at Cinemascon that Deadpool will release under the Fox banner. Deadpool will likely be the only Marvel property that Fox will be able develop independently from Marvel Studios since unlike FF and X-Men DP is the only thing Fox has going for it that won’t need a massive Marvel Studios makeover. Marvel already has plans for Phase 4 and it likely doesn’t have DP in it so it makes sense to let Fox make one DP film then release it under their banner.

Why not? its been in development for years surely its in a more advance stage than any of the others.

Because chances are they're not going to start filming it this year. It's been reported that the next three Marvel movies to be filmed are Black Widow, Eternals and then Shang-Chi

Yeah it's looking like Eternals for Nov 2020 and Strange for Nov 2021 with no Nov film slated for 2022

I just don't see how they could release 12 films in a span of 3 years, if they decide to release 4 films per year and not burn themselves out and still keep quality control. The more films they release in a span of 3 to 5 years, the quicker they might need to meet up deadlines and thats gonna put a lot of pressure on them and to the people involved in the projects.

Fox also wasn't holding them back to release more films in the past. While they are also gonna produce shows for disney+ from now on, thats automatically more work for Marvel Stud10s. So for those reasons, I think they'll keep it 3 films per year.

The only thing I'm worried about is they might be launching too many franchises in phase 4, especially if Thunderbolts are officially greenlit for film. And the sequels for dr. Strange, Ant-Man, Capt. Marvel, Avengers and Black Panther might take longer.

Putting Shang-Chi in Feb '21 & DS2 in Nov'21 makes no sense.

That would be 5 years between films for DS, when DS2 has been in development much longer than SC with Derrickson officially signing back in early December and Cretton only just signing on for SC 2 months ago.
There's no need or want for Shang-Chi to jump the queue, other films are already further along in development, you'd only be rushing it and hampering it's chances of being a good movie

Likely it'll be the other way around, depending on whats happening with BP2:
Feb 2021 - DS2 (or BP2)
May 2021 - BP2 (or DS2)
Nov 2021 - Shang-Chi

I'm just going off of what's been reported. Black Widow to begin filming in July and Eternals to start filming around Fall with reports also saying Shang-Chi will be the next Marvel movie to begin filming after Eternals.

If I had to guess what the 2021 films were going to be as of now, I'd say Shang-Chi, Guardians 3 and Strange 2 and a possible Spider-Man 3 in there as well. I'm not sure what order those films would be released, but based on the information I've read, that's my likely guess.

I could be completely wrong, but we'll find out this summer during SDCC or D23

Sounds about right, I think Deadpool is an "Untitled Disney Live Action" on the new release schedule, the same can be said about X-Force and Gambit.

Gambit was removed from the schedule
I know, but it wasn’t going to make the March date anyway, it didn’t make sense to leave it there. I think it’s now an Untitled Disney Live Action like Deadpool.

It's now a nonexistent feature because it's never getting made. Unless Feige doesn't care about Gambit
