MCU vs thread....controversy and chaos

Put together a team of up to 5 individuals who could beat [Stormbreaker Thor, Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange] in a fight ( no infinity stones, except Vision with the mind stone still attached to his head). Assume the fight takes place on Earth.

Anyone ?

I'm guessing you want us to tell you the weakest team we think could win rather than just saying Surtur Prime, Ego and Dormammu?

This team could maybe pull off a win with the right strategy:
  • Quicksilver - He has no way of hurting Thor/Carol but he's fast enough to take out a glass cannon like Doctor Strange the instant the fight begins making it 5 vs 2.
  • Ghost Rider - Based on his feats he doesn't hit hard enough to hurt Thor/Carol but he survived a nuke so trying to put him down will keep at least one of them occupied.
  • Iron Man (nanotech) - Another powerhouse who can't beat Thor or Carol one on one (they're just too durable) but would make a great distraction. We've seen Tony knock Thor around and keep him off balance before (also Thanos in Infinity War). It helps that he's immune to lightning.
  • Valkyrie - Strong/durable/skilled enough to put up a fight against more powerful opponents, especially since:
    • Her sword is sharp enough to impale Hela/cut through a Chitauri leviathan like butter. It's worth remembering Carol doesn't have any durability feats against blades.
    • The obedience disks she had in Ragnarok worked on Thor and should work on Carol.
  • Scarlet Witch (Age of Ultron) - She's a glass cannon and her telekinesis wasn't as powerful back then but we know her telepathy can mess with Thor's head and it should work on Carol as well. As in AoU, Quicksilver should be able to help her get around the battlefield.

Now that's what I'm talking about ! Getting creative, what combination of powers could take out those three powerhouses ?- all of whom can fly. Nice.

I don't think there IS a group of 3 who could take them. Maybe start with Hela, Thanos, ummmmm....Ultron?

Could be up to five in your team - but 3 would be impressive.

Hela might be able to take them on all at the same time, although possibly be overpowered by a combination of Stormbreaker, Cap's strength and Strange's magic.

Hela and Loki together could probably give them a really serious fight. Hela + Loki + Valkyrie and you've got a finely balanced War!

Don't start a match again, Docks won't like it.
Eh, I don't mind it. Especially with this Covid crap going on. This crap is depressing AF. No sports, no new movies, no new shows...............

Suggestion......

Let's change it up a little bit. What about a team up of several characters and folks suggest a team of roughly equivalent numbers who could beat them in a scrap ( e.g. If someone puts up the Defenders people might suggest teams like GOTG + Nebula, or maybe Cap, Bucky, Widow, Falcon and Black Panther in response) ???

What about....

Captain Marvel +

Doctor Strange +

And Stormbreaker Thor ( before his depression weight gain )

Anyone ?
I'm going Thor. Strange is a punch away from dying and I still say he is stronger than Captain Marvel.

Now you see what happens when y'all go picking on Doc? We need to be a little bit more sensitive to his feelings ......like I am.....

Where's the big hug emoji when you need it?

Oh yeah....I forgot about them LOL.

Oh, wait....I know.....God.

I don't think s/he's in MCU so that's cheating.

Trying to think of a team of three or 5 who can take down those three power houses......
It's difficult, but I'll take Iron Man (Liquid Armor), raging Hulk, Loki and Hawkeye.

You've still got room for one more. Vision, Scarlet Witch and the Ancient One are still up for grabs.

Don't forget Thanos, Odin, Malekith with the Ether and worthy Cap.

Totally forgot Worthy Cap, a great suggestion - and would make any team hard to beat ( I think I suggested no Infinity stones except Vision - but if it makes things more interesting throw in Malekith and Ronan - although it's more about the stones than their own powers).

Odin is a really tough one to judge because in theory he's one of the most powerful beings - way beyond Thor, but his best onscreen feat is taking away Thor's powers and enchanting Mjolnir. Banishing Hela is pretty impressive- although the Valkyrie kamikaze mission made it possible.

Another good addition to any team is Kurse, almost indestructible and able to beat pre Ragnarok Thor to a pulp.

Thanos ( no stones) is an interesting one, because he was able to take down Thorbowski, Worthy Cap and Nanotech Iron Man. The only characters we've seen nearly overpower him are Captain Marvel and Scarlet Witch.

Yeah. The whole Odin thing in MCU is rather distracting. Sometimes I have a hard time with the MCU characters and sort of fall back to the characters as they are in the comics. Odin is a prime example. He's SO under powered in MCU it's ridiculous.

I don't think those 3 stand a chance against comic book Odin. He's basically a god who can do virtually anything he wants.....at least in some of the comics. Ultimately, it is what the writers say it is.

Something I've always thought about Odin is that his vast powers come at a cost - he can do cosmic stuff but has to go to sleep afterwards. Yeah, MCU Odin and Thor are very much underpowered, but then again MCU Cap ( and Bucky) are much more powerful than classic comics Cap and Bucky - so it kind of all levels out in the end.

He did casually depower Thor and is supposed to have defeated Surtur Prime and Hela back in the day so by MCU standards he's powerful.

You're right though, they killed him off without him ever doing anything really spectacular on screen. I guess Hopkins was a little old for fight scenes.

Are you guys doing a vs fight? I try to do one every 48 hours so it's about that time. So let me know what you guys want to do.

Sorry. I made a suggestion to try something slightly different : that someone suggest a team ( or even an individual ) and others pick a team of up to 5 to take them down.

However, if you have a straight up match in mind, go for it.

Otherwise..... pick a team of up to 5 to defeat:

images

Thunder Cap ( personally I like that better than Worthy Cap, he's always worthy)

Valkyrie

Loki

Fat Thor or, for @Stormborn and all our Thor fans out there, The Big Thorbowski Dude of Thunder !

As a challenge, try NOT to pick the obvious choices such as Stormbreaker Thor, Dormammu, Hela and /or Thanos.

Otherwise @Docker2.0 what have you got in mind ?

No worries man. There's an endless amount of classic movies at your disposal waiting to be discovered.

Hmm, no obvious choices? How about:

Iron Monger for Loki
Aldrich Killian for Val
Abomination for both Cap and Fat Thor

Scarlet witch, Captain Marvel, Ironman, Vision and Doctor Strange.

Scarlet witch, Captain Marvel, Ironman, Vision and Doctor Strange.

I can see that going either way - although Vision has a vulnerability to electrical attacks so he's screwed against Thunder Cap or Thorbowski Dude of Thunder.

Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange and Scarlet witch are the big threats on that team. Not sure if Iron Man could withstand Stormbreaker or real pounding from Mjolnir.

Good thinking though.:applaud

Given that Abomination got beaten by the weakest version of MCU Hulk , I can't see him defeating either Thunder Cap or Thorbowski. And 2 on 1 , he's in serious trouble IMO.

Otherwise pretty interesting Match ups !
