Marvel Films MCU X-Men - Part 4

Which characters you're most excited to see the power display in the MCU?

I'm sure Rogue is a top pick in everyone's mind, but I'm very, very curious to see how they handle Kitty and Kurt. I think they require more creativity to make it cool, so I'm excited to see what they can do with them.

Nightcrawler invading the White House in X2 is still one of my favorite action sequences in CBMs:

I also wanted to ask everyone a similar question - as in what would be the best lineup in terms of visuals - most exotic and cool looking power displays but also taking into account how cool the character themselves will look in action (eg Colossus armoured up, Iceman iced up, Beast in beast form, Nightcrawler's look as well as his bamfing etc).

To answer your question from top down and once the X-Men have built up experience, I want Cyclops' optic blasts to be shown in devastating form when turned up to max, Storm's weather effects to be varied and off the charts like Ragnarok Thor, Beast to be shown as super-agile and moving and changing direction at a pace that's hard to track and Jean using her telikenisis to fly with a red aura around her that acts as a forcefield (and hopefully this can be used to protect other team members too).

Those characters would likely be the core. Outside of that for visuals alone I would love to see (within the first 2 films) a fully powered Rogue bashing Sentinels up in close combat, Iceman in ice form for much longer using ice slides regularly and stronger ice attacks, Colossus’ armouring up looking better and fighting on the front lines with Rogue, Nightcrawler bamfing teammates to help combo moves (and using it to drop/disorient villains) and Psylocke showing ninja-like fighting skills, stepping out of shadows and attacking with her psychic knife.

I really do like Hailee Steinfeld: she could make an awesome Rogue.
I hope she’s seeing all this fuss we’re making about her here. :funny:

Like Wanda's, yes. But purple-ish/pink-ish, and more subtle. Have you seen this fan made animation?

That's how MCU Jean should be.

That was made by a fan? Wow! I would love to see her fighting like that and have that kind of personality in battle.

In all honesty just do what the comics did and give them personalized suits that also reflect who they are while staying true to the comics design.
Like this storm for example:

It perfectly reflects a practical enough costume that calls back to her African heritage and still is completely classic to the characters design.
I would be fine with something like that.

For me, this lineup plus Kurt and Kitty:

Funny you say that as it’s exactly what I say when I talk about the pic - “plus Kurt and Kitty”. :D: It features pretty much all the most important X-Men for me in an awesome team battle pose. Jubilee will also hopefully make it in, along with guys for the future once X-Men have had their first big event in say film 3 - the likes of Emma Frost, Havok, Polaris, Bishop, Cable etc. But the above are pretty much bang on for what I’d like to see in the first huge event film in the mutant universe.

There's also two more episodes of that fan made animation:

One focused on Scott and Ororo:

And Kurt and Betsy:

Too bad Marvel didn't allow him to continue the animation...

Yes, Storm's powers should be varied like you said. And her powers offer more possibilities than Thor's, which should be visually appealing.

I would like to see her build up her power level through experience over the films and she should be up there with the top tier of Avengers when she hits her peak. I want her to use all the different elements of weather to distinguish from Thor’s lightning use.

Like the costume, hate the mask. It makes him look like he's cosplaying Sauron's tower. :hehe: Some things just don't work in live-action and it's my firm belief that Wolverine's mask is one of them.
Wolverine's mask CAN work in live action and it's one of the most iconic parts of his costume. No way Marvel will leave it out after years of fans advocating for Logan to appear in costume. Even if he hardly wears it.

Tired of the notion that things from the comics are too cartoony or outlandish to work in s movie. This isn't 2000 anymore. Marvel have destroyed that argument when they put Thanos, Howard the Duck and the Guardians of the Galaxy on the big screen. Logan will have his mask.

The mask can definitely work. He doesn't have to wear the entire time, but I think marvel has a duty to give us the mask after 20 years of not having it.

I would darken them. Make them look more rugged and functional as well as accurate to spirit of the character. Very much like cap, or dr strange outfits.

These are cool designs. I agree with @Abudefduf that the mask can't work in live-action; he does look like the Barad-dur. But I love the Storm outfit.

So am I, but some things truly are and even Marvel Studios know it. That's why their Hawkeye doesn't wear his classic costume or Cap his bright red pirate boots.

Usually I don't mind characters wearing weird/unpractical stuff just for the sake of looking cool (people do that in real life, too)... the problem is, Wolverine's mask doesn't look cool, it just looks goofy. It's just hard to buy that a cool dude like Logan would wear something so silly... unless he was an ex-luchador, as someone suggested earlier. Now that would be kind of clever, but I doubt most fans would be happy with such a change.

Everything said here is true.

Could be inspired by his animalistic nature, it could look goofy to everyone but for some reason appeal to him. Hawkeye never really needed the mask imo, but wolverine should have one. It makes his costume feel incomplete without it.

One thing Marvel haven't done that I would have liked is put Cap's protruding wings on his helmet.

Yet Cap still wore his mask and he still had all of the design elements that made his costume iconic. And the same goes for almost all of the MCU heroes. Black Panther didn't suddenly lose his mask because "a cat mask would look stupid in live action". Hawkeye is really the only example in the MCU of Marvel changing a costume to look more grounde since they based his look on Ultimate Hawkeye. Marvel knows that there has been a huge demand for Logan to have his costume in the movies and Feige clearly being a fan of the more comic booky elements will find a way to make the design work after 20 years of having Wolverine wear leather costumes and civvies.

It's really not that hard to write in an excuse for Logan having a mask. Maybe it comes from his samurai background, maybe like Goliath suggested -- its animalistic nature appeals to him. And that's YOUR opinion. Wolverine has one of the coolest costumes of any of the X-Men members as evidenced by it becoming an iconic look and fans wanting for nearly 2 decades now. You are in the minority in thinking that Logan's mask is unappealing

If they're affraid of going too "bright", there are certainly darker tones of blue they can use for Logan. Even Captain America wore some:

I can see them adapting the brown costume eventually, but I really don't see them skipping the blue and yellow one for Wolverine. It's just too iconic. It will be there.

By the way, although we don't have official pics, even Mysterio will get that fishbowl helmet. Because as ridiculous as it can be, it's too iconic.

We are getting Wolverine's mask.

Magneto's helmet actually doesn't bother me at all.

Mysterio he means. This guy:

Will be represented accurately on the big screen. The MCU version of his costume even has the grid pattern
