Yes to a new roster. The roster of the 90s cartoon never changed so it was kinda boring in that aspect.
The Flight Attendant of HBO MaX is an eXcellent series!
After seeing Eternals last night, I want Chloe Zhao for X-Men. She juggled multiple characters superbly and nailed the team dynamics aspect. Beautiful film all around!
Ah, given some of frequent criticisms of the film of being too many characters I don’t think too many people are going to agree with you on that, lol. I’ll see the movie soon, but from the little I’ve seen of Zhao’s work, I think she could bring a strong relatable humanity to the team. After seeing Eternals last night, I want Chloe Zhao for X-Men. To me what's concerning about the reviews, is I've read the reviews of the members here and how a couple of them mentioned how underused Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie were in the movie... and the best characterAh, given some of frequent criticisms of the film of being too many characters I don’t think too many people are going to agree with you on that, lol. Having seen the film now, I can sort of see why SuperT thinks Zhao would be a good fit for the X-Men as far capturing the team dynamics goes. Here’s an example: The film opens with the proverbial superhero team battle where the Eternals battles deviants and they show some good ol’ fashion team work with them working together, using their powers in unison to defeat the enemy. However, I don’t think there’s really much variety or creativity in use of their powers. As for the rest of the film, it’s pretty unimpressive as far as character work goes. Most of the character’s in the film I find pretty uninteresting and dry. There’s just no spark or much chemistry between any them, especially between the romantic leads Sersi and Ikaris who have the most passionate-less love scene that I’ve seen in quite some time, even for PG-13 standards. To me what's concerning about the reviews, is I've read the reviews of the members here and how a couple of them mentioned how underused Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie were in the movie... and the best characterI've also read criticisms for the role of Gemma Chan, Richard Madden and the actress that played Sprite. Thats siX out of the 10 Eternals.was left out for the final battle...
Those criticisms are simply not what I want to read about the X-Men's reboot. I'm going to see the movie on Dec 1 (ugh that long) but some of the things Ive read about the film, just don't sound good.
My eXpectations are definitely low right now.Having seen the film now, I can sort of see why SuperT thinks Zhao would be a good fit for the X-Men as far capturing the team dynamics goes. I think I like my X-Men to have a lot more personality and charm than I saw in Eternals. A more comic accurate X-Men film should have some of sociopolitical commentary of the Black Panther film but some of the larger than life fun and character interplay of Avengers where you really root for the characters. This movie really does feel more like a Zack Snyder DC film than your typical Marvel film, and that’s very much by design as the director even confirmed that she was in fact influenced by Snyder Superman(which I know you’re not a fan of). When you watch the movie, try to keep low expectations and you might end up pleasantly surprised but I doubt you’ll be walking away from the film thinking Zhao should make an X-Men film. In fact, I think you’ll end up feeling quite the opposite.
Nothing I posted was that spoilery. What about not putting spoilers and details of a movie that just premiered?
My friend had an idea, use the acolytes as the man villain. They are radicalised because they think Magneto is dead and it’s them who decide to blow the whole thing open and reveal the secret that mutants are real in the mcu. I thought that was a fun idea and we haven’t seen the acolytes yet plus it’s a great way to bring in Amelia voght which would also develop Charles in a seperate and distinct way to Patrick’s version
I definitely think we can do without Wolverine and Magneto in the first film but I want Xavier to be there to establish his dream even if he plays a smaller role after that. He certainly doesn’t need to be a field team player like McAvoy’s Xavier.I would be happy to see a X-Men movie without the Professor, the Wolverine and Magneto.
As others have mentioned, this could end up relying on preexisting conceptions of Magneto. I would love to see the acolytes and Voght when the MCU does eventually introduce Magneto though. My friend had an idea, use the acolytes as the man villain.
