The staff probably isn't an Infinity Stone.
but the gem in it might be.

the spear itself was never taken to Asgard IIRC. IF the staff or the gem on the staff is one of the stones, it is SHIELD property right now...No, the Spear was powered by the Tesseract (which *is* an Infinity Stone). So in all likelihood, the Spear lost any special powers as soon as Thor took the Tesseract back to Asgard.
Was it actually shown that the staff took powers from the Tesseract or only speculated by a human character, in that case it could actually be a stone
one other gem is being left for Phase III as the eye of Agamotto.
No, the Eye of Agamotto wasn't in the vault. It was the Orb of Agamotto that was there.Wasn't the eye of Agamotto already seen in the treasure vault in Thor? That would exclude it from being an infinity stone, since they refused to keep two together.
Wasn't staff separated from Tesseract in the beginning of the Avengers? Yet it was able to work with the Cube and teleport Loki from the other end of the universe. Or it was just the Tesseract locating random demigod in random period of time and teleporting him in front of the Cube? I won't agrue with Feige though, but untold things can be turned whatever way they needed.Yeah, SHIELD probably has it in their possession; and no, it isn't likely to have powers any more, now that it's separated from the Tesseract.
Well, the Tesseract is a doorway to the other end of space, right? Doors open from both sides.Wasn't staff separated from Tesseract in the beginning of the Avengers? If you look starting at 2:01 and especially at 2:11 of this video, you can see Cap's shield in close proximity to the Skull as the energy of the Tesseract builds around him. Does anyone think Cap's shield was possibly bathed in cosmic radiation? If so, I wonder if that would become significant in the future.

I wonder if this means there's a second cube, linked to the first, in Thanos' possession... Which raises questions about the fate of a certain other villain.
If the tesseract is the space stone, then it could be acting as a conduit to draw power from the other stones from across the universe. Energy from it for the Hydra weapons could be drawn from the power stone, and Loki's staff could be channelling the mind stone through the Tesseract.
Interesting concept....I like it.
If it's true, it would mean that Thanos has the Mind Stone already, accounting for three of them (Mind, Space, and maybe Power for Aether...?).
I still think CATWS would be a logical place to put the Time Stone, since an already observable theme deals with the past versus the present.
The Eye of Agamotto might be, if it's a stone. Or Strange might recover it from Dormammus dimension, but other than that, I agree, it would be a very unlikely coincindence if more infinity stones are on earth.I find it unlikely that there would be another stone on Earth to be honest, given that the Asgardians seem to be against keeping them together, and the Tesseract was hidden on earth for so long.
What if the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak is in the MCU and it's the Power Stone. What if fox didn't have the rights to it
Maybe the Orb in GOTG isn't a stone, but a map to one
