MCU: Your Thoughts About The Infinity Stones (SPOILERS INSIDE)

I could have sworn someone called it by name in the movie. I'm thinking either Ultron or Thor confirms that it's the mind gem.

Thor said it was the Mind Stone when addressing the others once Vision was brought to life. So, it is flat out stated in the movie.

There was no confusion at all about which stone it was. They said it several times. And judging by its power to control minds since Loki had it.

I got a feeling they didn't plan all this Infinity Stone stuff until after Thor: The Dark World.

I wonder how they are gonna deal with the concept of the Soul Stone and souls in general in the MCU given that they've toned down a lot of the magical aspects of the Thor mythos and even with the Dr. Strange movie they are using string theory as a possible explanation for his magic.

found it strange a yellow gem rested inside the blue crystal of loki's scepter, but other than that, very cool addition.

purple - power
red - reality
yellow - mind

which leaves orange, blue, green. If I had to guess, orange is housed in the tesseract. Just because of it's size and its relation to the other gems seen in Thanos' gauntlet.

Then judging by the fact that the other 4 gems colors have been changed for the MCU, one could logically guess blue for Soul Gem and green for Time Gem.

Just speculation though.

What they did with Vision's stone in AoU was so cheap and rediculous from a screenwriting point of view. I mean really ? that yellow thing in the scepter that nobody knew existed is suddenly now your Infinity Stone ?

How about you make films that focus on the one good storyline you had since the Avengers ?

They relied so heavily to The Winter Soldier and AoU to bind their pretty weak storylines and they ended up doing nothing with it. The events of Cap 2 basically didn't really matter in AoU except for the after credit scene with the twins.

It amazes me how people don't see these mistakes and others are accusing Joss Whedon of ruining Marvel when he only tried to save it.

or...maybe realize just how difficult it is to make these type of movies and are trying to make it the best they can to not only make the most money but to attract their biggest audiences?

nothing can ever be perfect. all franchise movies have had major duds. so far, marvel hasn't had a true dud - it's had good movies and great movies all the while trying to make everything connected. it's not easy.

Actually, they show in AOU, during Thor's cave dream scene, that the Tesseract breaks open to reveal the Blue Gem! It's shown right in the movie. All that is left is Orange and Green. I'm 100% confident that Orange is Soul and Green is Time, since Soul should be the most powerful in theory, as you can alter the very motivations of the beings in the universe, and the gems were originally called "Soul Gems".

I think things would be far less confusing (for fans) if names and colours matched their comic counterparts.

Yeah, but it's not any more confusing for the general audience. It's only confusing for those who want to figure it out in advance of the movie revealing it just to have that knowledge.

It was speculated that the scepter was the mind stone back when Avengers came out. Can't remember when people figured out the Tesseract. It certainly was confirmed by TDW end credit scene.

Yep. Saw that on my second viewing. I expect you are right about green and orange. If for no other reason than because none of the others shared colors with their comicbook counterparts.

I'm so stoked to see how they bring in the green time stone and the orange soul stone. O_O

I think people guessed it when Avengers came out because Thanos was interested in it, plus they made a point in the film to say that the tesseract can manipulate space. But Thor the Dark World post credit simply confirmed the term the theories for the Infinity Stone.

Well, people for the longest time thought it was the Cosmic Cube rather than Infinity Gem. That theory still persists in a lot of places. I don't think Thanos entirely changed that theory for most people and Thor: TDW's revelation was actually a bit of a shocker.

I think the Soul Gem will be introduced in Dr. Strange. DS was confirmed to have multiple dimensions and the Soul Gem has the ability to take it's user to special soul dimensions.

I think GotG2 will bring in the Time Stone. I can see it being used as a way to connect Peter Quill with his father/mother.

I'm going to go out on a limb here too and say that Adam Warlock will NOT appear in the MCU. I think The Vision will fill that role. The Mind Gem will provide his operating system with cosmic insight so that he can warn the heroes of the impending conflict.

I haven't actually read Infinity Gauntlet so I'm sketchy on the details, but from what I've heard, wasn't that Silver Surfer's role, not Warlock's?

The Time gem is most assuredly going to be involved in Thor: Ragnarok, right? I mean, that story line involves a cycle of time and even involves time travel to erase events.

I'm also very confused about why the Mind gem did not work on Stark in the Avengers. What does the Mind gem have to do with someone have a heart?

I really don't think they thought this out at all until just recently.

Well Loki touched it to the reactor in Stark's chest, not his physical body... One can imagine the results would have been different if Loki poked Stark in the head with it or something. Nothing to do with his heart, but that the scepter didn't actually come into biological contact with Stark.

Yes, that's the most likely explanation since Tony of course does have a heart. That reactor didn't pump his blood for him, it just kept the shrapnel in his body away from his heart.

just a week away from another stone. probably. or was it confirmed already?
