Miami Vice

To be honest, I thought the whole concept was a bad idea... The TV show was very associated with the eighties style and fashion, it was very serious for the time, but it feels overly glamourized when compared to modern cop shows like NYPD Blue or The Shield. The point to make the movie was to attract the MV fans, and the movie looked too different from it. For those who never cared about it, there would be no interest anyway.

Well, it's a re-imagining of it. I guess someone could see it kinda like how Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was made.

Best cop show since Miami Vice? I think THE WIRE. just owns. Realistic up the ass.

I've heard good things about The Wire. However, until I see it, I'll have to go with The Shield. That's a show that grabs you and doesn't let go. Vic Mackey is one of the biggest bad asses in TV history.

Im going to start watching the Shield again, havent seen it since the first couple of episodes of the first season.

I have netflix so Im just going to copy it, saves me a whole lot of money:O

Dude. THE WIRE is just crazy real. I mean, some people might complain that the plots can be too complicated, but if you watch from SEASON 1....it'll be great.

And Detective Jim Macnulty......wow. Just. wow. That dude gets more ass than a toliet seat. I mean, he is the definition of Man ****e. And with it being on HBO.....they curse, and show breasts to my delight.

I haven't checked out THE SHIELD yet, but I do hear great things about it too.

Man I just watched the first 4 episodes of the Shield???!!! Amazing!!! Its hard to tell which one the good guys and which one the bad guys some times! The show is very L.A!!!

How hardcore is it? I know it's on FX, but they do get to curse, don't they?

yea its pretty hardcore. Dead nude corpes. drugs, profanity, corrupt cops, Should be HBO imo! Would never let my kids watch this show!!! It reminds me alot of Training day!!! Especially Denzel character. The kinds of things he did to do his job. Although I still havent decided if I want to watch the rest of the season. It makes me hate cops sometimes, and me being very pro-cop.

Ah NO you gotta watch every episode of every season! Even though Vic does questionable stuff....ok, he does lots of questionable stuff, he does it to clean up the streets.

Since it is on FX, its nowhere near a Sopranos or Deadwood, profanity or nudity wise, although they get as close as they can. Since so much bad stuff is implied though, it doesn't seem any less 'tame' than an HBO show.

I really didn't like this film... but there some stuff I liked like Gina Calabrese, the action sequences, acting was good.
Problem in my opinion was too quick scenes to actually glue a ****ing movie together it was very unbalanced.

Keen Eddie = best cop show of all time.

Miami Vice = worst cop movie of the year.

finally we agree:up:

except its not of the year..........its of ever

lmao.....I think so too. I don't think there was another cop movie all year long.

I still need to see it, especially since I am a Donner fan.

No, the film came out in March of '06. It came out on DVD pretty fast though, so maybe that's why it seems that way.

To me watching The shield is like watching the sopranos! You cant wait until one of the main characters get whack because they been long deserving it! Just finished the 2nd disc of the first season and I must say its getting better and better. Im going to watch the rest of the first season and decide if I want to continue watching the show.

 Yup, good to hear. I have no doubt you'll wanna continue it. There was even an episode where I was literally on my feet cheering for Dutch, that annoying nerdy but smart detective that always gets hell. The show gets intense, as intense as any movie can be.
