Michael Bay wheres the respect?

Michael Bay is a pioner in action cinema. Since his first film bad boys other directors have been copying his style and yet they act like they are above him. Armegedon,The Rock, The Bad Boys franchise, these are great action films. The Island showed alot of potential and growth, but unfortunatly it floped. Bays films may be bombastic but they have little touches and quirks that make them very human. I hope transformers does well, and bay finally starts getting a little respect.

LOL, are you serious? A Michael Bay appreciation thread? Bay has one really great film (The Rock), two average popcorn flicks (Bad Boys and The Island, the latter of which could've been great in the hands of a better director), and after that, just a slew of garbage. He's not a great director by any means, he can direct a good action sequence, but for the most part sucks when it comes to the other more important elements of a movie. Like depth. And character development. And plot.

i think that visually, he's one of the best... he puts a lot of love into every shot in the film, and it really shows.

i don't think he's had a bad film yet. the closest thing was 'pearl harbor', and even that wasn't 'bad' by any stretch of the word.

I have nothing agains Bay, when I want to watch a nice looking action movie, I can put on one of his films. He's not the greatest, he's not the root of all evil either.

I can't say I blame the public--Pearl Harbor did suck. It was just a s**tty clone of Titanic.

Respect? For Michael Bay? Never! He is one of the worst, most overrated directors in movies today. He even rips off himself (see The Island). He doesn't know how to tell a story properly without his usual assortment of cliched filmmaking, like slowing down the camera when trying to make someone look cool or ADD-induced editing that makes you sick.

And he likes to show off his special effects, which most of his films are packed with instead of storytelling elements like...I don't know...PLOT, CHARACTERIZATION, ETC. We do NOT need to see 500 different shots and angles of one thing exploding in slow motion.

His movies stink, pure and simple. And the constantly dwindling box office performance of his movies is hopefully a sign that the unwashed masses are getting tired of his dreck.

Yeah, right. I predict a terribly overblown, typical Micheal Bay explosion-filled piece of crap where the Transformers are there strictly to shoot and blow things up. And maybe we'll get Optimus Prime walking in slow motion in front of an explosion where we see 3 million different shots of.

He's already shown he doesn't care much for the source, another reminder of his overblown ego. If it bombs, maybe Bay will be booted out of Hollywood and sent to making Cinemax movies where he belongs.

There action films what do you expect. Your precious 80's action flicks like aliens, die hard, predator, and the like are no deeper. And shuley you are a moron with the exception of The Island which still turned a profit, all of bays films have been blockbusters.
