There action films what do you expect. Your precious 80's action flicks like aliens, die hard, predator, and the like are no deeper. And shuley you are a moron with the exception of The Island which still turned a profit, all of bays films have been blockbusters.

I respect your opinion, but PLEASE do not mention Aliens, Die Hard, Predator, etc. in the same thread when we're talking about a hack like Bay. Those movies were MUCH deeper, with an emphasis on strong characters and/or well made and original action scenes that weren't really the main focus of the movie. People talk about those movies, not Bay movies. They only talk about Bay movies when talking about the worst of Hollywood.

Michael Bay is a pioner in action cinema. Since his first film bad boys other directors have been copying his style and yet they act like they are above him. Armegedon,The Rock, The Bad Boys franchise, these are great action films. The Island showed alot of potential and growth, but unfortunatly it floped. Bays films may be bombastic but they have little touches and quirks that make them very human. I hope transformers does well, and bay finally starts getting a little respect.

Yeah, right. I predict a terribly overblown, typical Micheal Bay explosion-filled piece of crap where the Transformers are there strictly to shoot and blow things up. And maybe we'll get Optimus Prime walking in slow motion in front of an explosion where we see 3 million different shots of.

He's already shown he doesn't care much for the source, another reminder of his overblown ego. If it bombs, maybe Bay will be booted out of Hollywood and sent to making Cinemax movies where he belongs.

I just can not think of a more perfect person to direct a live action Transformers movie than Michael damn Bay, no matter how hard I try.

I doubt there was ever another big ****ing Alien robot cars at war cartoon more suited to a film maker than bay.

Even thought I hate the bionicle designs, I just feel that the movie will blow me out the theater just like spielberg says.

If you expect more than that from a transformers movie then I don't know what to say to you. I'm not saying we should accept mediocrity but when I think of what would make me happiest in the theater, it's optimus transforming from truck to robot then jumping through the air shooting the crap out of decepticons and landing on bended knee joint as a huge explosion happens in the background... wooo oh yeah.

Its just a movie about a big fish that goes around and eats people. It doesn't need to be deep or serious or well-made.

This could have been said about Jaws back in '75. Thank god this mentality wasn't used because look how great it was! It doesn't matter how simply a plot can be summed up, anything ANYTHING can be turned into something great.

Why do people automatically defend how possibly it could suck already by saying it doesn't need to be anything other than explosions and robots and gunfights?

The movie could have been great. It could be a great sci-fi action film akin to Aliens or Terminator or Predator or in that similiar vein. But I doubt that will happen, because the same people that think the movie shouldn't be anything other than explosions and robots fighting are the ones behind this getting made and giving it to Bay.

And yes, I know, shame on Spielberg too.

"The Rock" is his only great film. The others are mediocre at best. The reunion of Michael Biehn and Ed Harris is the best sequence in the film.
