Caine In Batman's Suit?

Michael Caine, who will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne's faithful butler Alfred in the next Batman film The Dark Knight, told SCI FI Wire that he has made some suggestions to director Christopher Nolan about what he'd like to see his character do this time around. "I was talking to the widow of the man who wrote Batman, and she said that he wrote a marvelous scene that [we] should do in [our] next movie," Caine said in an interview while promoting his latest film, The Prestige. "She told me that he wrote a sequence where Batman was trying to get bad guys, and he wanted to use the butler dressed as Batman as a ruse, and then go back around behind him. So I said to Christopher—and I don't know whether he's going to use it, because he won't tell you anything about the script—but I mentioned this to him, because I thought that this was a great idea. I think that if he dresses me as Batman, it could be one of the funniest sequences in the history of movies."

Caine added, laughing, "Can you imagine what I would make out of that? Trying to get into the Batman suit and then running around the woods [while] he's going around the [other] way to try and get the bad guys? See, you're already laughing, and those films are very serious. My job is to bring the humor of the sort of ordinary person being in that situation, which is what I am."

Caine said that he hasn't read the Dark Knight script yet, despite repeated requests to writer-director Nolan, who also directed him in The Prestige. "I'm just waiting to get the script," Caine said. "Every time I ask him for it he says, 'I haven't finished it.' I know he's finished it, otherwise [Warner Brothers] wouldn't have given it the go-ahead."

That would be sweet. They did that on The Batman during season one I think. At least...sorta. Alfred put the costume on so Bruce could be with people and people would see the Batman seperately from Bruce.

It was done on the 60s series as well

It was done in "The Batman" as well. It would be a good thing to see.

the old bastard's going senile...with a ridiculous suggestion like that! :joker:

are you people for real?????

you want to see caine in the Batman Costume?????

i'll get joel schumacher on the phone while im at it shall i?

^I could see it as a hilarious break from the serious nature of the film. . . meaning that we see him inside of the Batcave doing it[merely out of curiosity], as opposed to an infiltration or real world situation.

Don't worry about it though. . . like I said, I doubt we'd see it.

Besides, in a Schumacher film, he'd have Alfred dressing up as an undercover night vixen to help Batman on a stakeout.

Maybe it go like this...

And maybe introduce Ace the Bathound as well in the movie.

:oldrazz:

Seeing Alfred in the suit so that Bruce and Batman can be seen seperately would be awesome, hhahhaa, i loved when they'd do that on TAS (one time he put Dick Grayson in the suit i think, or maybe it was Alfred)... either way that would be funny as hell.

This kind of thing's done pretty regularly in the comics. I think it'd be great if they did it in the movie. It'd be a nice touch of comedy, that would, y'know, actually makes sense in the movie.

Yeah that would be awesome aswell. I can only imagine Caine's and Bale's facial expression when Bruce finds Alfred.

She? Who is she? WTF?

I can't believe more people aren't saying this is a horrible ****ing idea.
Really.

Kind of ruined it though by blurting it out though. That is definitely something you want to surprise the audience with if it ever happens.

While Caine was just having a laugh, and I wouldn't want to see Alfred in the suit... I wouldn't mind an Alfred who could kick a moderate amount of arse, as he can/does in the comics/cartoons occasionally. Alas, they cast too old for that.

Alfred also goes in disguise in the comics sometimes too, like Bruce does.
