The Dark Knight Caine confirms Joker!

Penguin Corp. is a fantastic name for a buisness - I hope it is never used in Batman Begins 2,3,4,60 If they want to use a villian at a corporate level, use either Earle from Begins, or Black Mask.

the Penguin in Returns is what I don't want to see here....even though I didn't mind that....

I would rather see Black mask as someone Ra's used to take down Wayne Ent. in the financial dept. to take down Gotham City at the heart..

The Penguin in Returns was just that - the Penguin in Returns. He was never like that in any other medium and will never be that way again.

Black Mask should be a "freak" style mob boss with goals to take over Gotham City for himself the way Falcone had. I don't see Ra's as being the type of guy that would strike only at Bruce Wayne and his company but try to threaten Gotham City as a whole and the only person he would trust with such a mission would be himself.....or his daughter (as shown in Begins when while he let Craine create the poison, he was the one to initiate the attack).

if they attack Wayne Enterprises....they attack Gotham at the heart...

he would attack Bruce and Batman...this would make destroying Gotham alot easier...

Then Ra's will do more than simply higher someone to do it for him, that is something Falcone or Thorne would do - not Ra's.

that's what I said....in the previous post...about Penguin Corp. or whatever company...fill in whichever one you happen to like...it doesn't matter...

the point is Ra's hiring someone to attack Bruce and Batman at the same time...

I get all of that - I just dont see Ra's hiring someone like Black Mask to attack Bruce Wayne or Batman. The only people Ra's would trust with such a mission would be himself, Talia or Lady Shiva.

I would definately see him using several characters to attack Batman in a couple different ways....

but just as long as the Joker is by himself...him working for anyone goes against the bible....

I definatly think Black Mask would be an exellent character to explore. I mean the guy is like an evil version of Bruce Wayne. And the whole Janus thing screams a Joker conection somewhere.

I like the idea of Janus being a rival company for Wanye Enterprises, with Janus going under due to a 'industrial accident' (insert Joker here?), then having Wanye buy out the company from Roman. Roman goes nuts due to losing everything and dons the guise of Black Mask, and seek revenge on Bruce Wanye and Wanye Enterprises.

Just a thought I had. I'd like Wanye to have something to do, I also like the idea of exploring the Wanye legacy.

I like your idea Fallen and it is that type of back story that makes me think Jake Gyllenhaal would be the absolute perfect Black Mask.

I think it would be cool if Joker was hired, but does his ever so imfamous (or famous) backstab, solidifing him as the biggest threat to anyone.

What I'd like to know is how are they going to sell this movie after the SR fiasco, I mean I liked SR but I really believed that SR would attract as many people as POTC2. Is BB2 going to have the same budget as BB or less? And let's not forget that Jack Nicholson is still fresh in a lot of people's mind as the Joker. It would be hard to top him. I guess the success of BB2 will depend a lot on the Joker's performance.

I wouldn't worry about it. BB made 205 Mil in the US and cost about 150 Mil to make. I think the the thing that has hurt SR is the whole 15 odd year oddysey of trying to make a Superman movie. All these different directors like Burton, McG, Rattner and Abrams don't come cheap, along with Mr. Cage. Plus Supes needs to use alot more SFX than a Bats movie.

As long as Nolan and Co keep doing what they have done, IMO there is nothing to worry about.

^I agree. The Begins sequel has some great momentum already due to the critical and financial success of the first film. It made close to it's box office just in DVD sales (around $190 million). With The Joker, it's only going to attract a wider audience.

As far as SR goes, I still think it will out-gross BB and it will do more worldwide. It's a disappointment as far as box office goes, but now that the character is back out there, he'll do better the next time around.

'Batman Begins' did it's box office amount mostly on great word of mouth of the movie. in the theatres it started out a bit slow but grew after the great word. This help the push for the DVD sales.

However, Warner Bros. execs have stated that they are not really interested in these series of BAtman movies as being "summer Blockbuster" as much as there being good BATMAN movies.

You can take that for what it's worth. personally I've never known any studio who didn't care for the bottom line of how much a movie makes. This is a business after all.

As for "selling" the Batman sequel after the "Superman Returns Fiasco" I think it will be the same style WB did with Batman Begins. A modest marketing campaign (realitively speaking) and good word of mouth from critics and the public.

If anything is hurting SR box office intake is the word of mouth that it's too long and the ending is boring, but I'm hearing that about POTC2 also.

The verdict is not out on how SR do at year's end as well as POTC2. If anything the only movie this year so far with staying power seems to be "cars".

well it was actually pretty damn obvious joker was gonna be in the movie, that why i think caine thought it was alright to say "the joker". I mean, is anyone here actually surprised that the joker is in the film?

Carmine Falcone said:
That's and understatement... ;) He's my favorite actor.
Cool:up: I like him too.

I hope we get more interviews with Caine. At the time that he got the Alred role he blurted out quite a bit of the storyline.
