The Dark Knight Michael Keaton on TDK

Nice interview. Kinda bummed he hasn't really seen BB though. One would think that if Nolan's direction was in sync with Keaton's own ideas of where the franchise should go, that he would be there opening day. Or at least see it on DVD.

But ah well. Hope he gives an update on that call to Nicholson. :D

wow. you really you are condescending. :wow:

you do realize that you are on the batman boards right? do you think you are the only person who has seen the special features, listened to the commentary and read the making of book back to back so many times it was held together by scotch tape? you need to get over yourself already.:whatever:

and while we are at it burton and nolan were in almost the exact same place as directors when they made their movies. in fact burton had already made the studios some money with beetlejuice and pee wee so he wasnt exactly a nobody. he was the hot new kid. sure there was tons of pressure on him but it was nothing compared to what, lets say, cameron or fincher had to deal with making the aliens sequels. nolan was far more of an unknown director when he was making begins.

the biggest difference was christopher nolan made his film in 2004 when studios where far more likely to respect a directors creative space than back in 1988. burton had the bros.warner breathing down his neck (actually jon peters and peter gruber) and i know first hand that nolan was pretty much left alone while making begins. nobody really cared about a new batman film back in 2003/4 and the studio had little to lose. so on that front burton had his hands full. creatively he was fighting against his producers constantly.

and batman '89 was not low budget. it had a budget around $35-40 million. in fact anton furst had a budget of over $5million just for production design. and just for comparisons sake indiana jones 3 also came out that year and its budget was $36 million. batman was a very expensive movie that ran over budget and was a huge gamble for wb. not "no budget".

get your facts straight especially if you are going to condescend to everyone. in other words if you are going to act like a know-it-all you better know-it-all, especially in a room of self professed obsessives and movie geeks.:cwink:

and just for the record i love tim burton and batman so dont even go there.

I remember when WaterWorld was totally hitting the news for it's overblown budget, and what was it, just over $100 million? Which to today's standards isn't that big of a budget. Waterworld DID tank though!

But back then, that's why it was so huge, because it wasn't just a few years earlier that movies like Batman were made with "BIG" budgets for $35-40.

Today a "small" budget is more than that with some movies. I remember them talking about X-men having a small budget, but it was still $65. But yeah, that back then $35-40 mil was a lot, pretty crazy

Yea budgets sure have grown a ton!!!

I mean 200 million is normal now for a big movie. I'm just wonder what it will be like in 20 more years!

I love most villains. especailly Antoine Chugar. I loved Antoine so much I went out and bought the book.

Also wasnt he kind of a villain in Beetlejuice?

Sort of. But he was DEFINITELY a villain in Desperate Measures. The movie wasn't really that good but Keaton scared the crap out of me as a locked up psycho, who terrorized this little sick kid that needed a kidney (if I remember right, its been a while.)

I haven't seen evil played that well since Dr Lecter.

Who else saw that movie? Raise your hands =)

Congratulations death, you just made my ignore list - now if you don't like my opinions, I suggest you do the same in kind.

awesome. great response. it is true i dont like your opinions (especially on the liberal use of homophobic slurs in polite conversation) but my problem in this case is your facts (which are wrong). add the fact that in the past two weeks since you joined this board has been completely littered with your hot air of condescention. nearly every statement you make carries the air of someone fresh out of school who thinks they are the only person to ever pick up a book, hold a camera, read a comic or use a pencil or paint brush. every time i (or anyone ) has called you out on anything you either completely ignore it or try to feebly defend your actions. as bruce said "i cannot let that stand and i need (my fellow hypers) to understand that right now".

btw i am not writing this for your benefit (since you put me on ignore) but rather so everyone else knows where i am coming from.

rant over.

keaton rules. great interview.

Also wasnt he kind of a villain in Beetlejuice?

I don't know if he was the main antagonist!

Much Ado About Nothing was awesome with him in it!

And Multiplicity is pretty much a dumb movie (I don't know if it's even worth renting unless to just see the funny parts), but oh man, just to see him play the different roles, the femmy one, the jock, and the ******ed clone, oh man LOL

"Hi Steve! I like pizza!"

Multiplicity could be considered "best clips should be put on YouTube" worthy

I don't know you all that well, death, but I agree with you on all of this.

Reading the interview and seeing some of the videos makes me want to meet Michael Keaton.

He seems like a really cool dude who's a class act. He's awesome.

Captain Vidal
Li'l Ze
Antoine Chugar

are probably the scariest villains. Lectar was but I doubt he would kill me. Now for the guys mentioned above, ya....

Yeah, I agree with Death 100 percent. Anyway, I thought the Beetlejuice thing was one of the most exciting aspects of the interview. I watched that movie almost every day as a kid, and I still love it. Sure, a sequal probably wouldn't have the same charm as the original, but so long as Burton was at the helm, I'd watch it. They just need to hurry up and make it before Keaton gets too old!

Ya I really really liked beetlejuice and liked that part of the interview more.

He was not attacking your opinions. He was editing your "facts". I would not take it too personal, death is a good guy.

:yay:

thanks. facts arent that important are they? especially if i can ignore them to help make my point.:whatever:

You ignored someone who disagreed with you? :whatever:

:yay:

i don't post often these days, but i have to say, you're kind of rude, pal.

you have no idea:cwink:

No, because we already have a colorful history, and I'm done.

this is true. see above. she is sore because she broke the rules and got her hand slapped by the big bad mod who she then told was humourless.:wow:

I didn't know. I just thought you were ignoring him for correcting you.

qft.

i just want people to come on these boards and understand the fact that it is a pre existing community and to resect that. you know, respect the rules, the mods, and our intelligence. not act like we are a bunch of no nothings.

thats it. im done for real this time.

glad to see im not alone in my op.
