Michael Mann Thriller Starring Hemsworth

Looking forward to this

You had me at "Michael Mann thriller." Gilbert Gottfried could be the lead and I'd still be excited for it.

I love Michael Mann.

Sooo ... how many moody brooding stylized montages are we looking at for this one? Three? Seven? :woot:

I'd post a witty reply to that, but I am too busy staring meaningfully at my own reflection in a hotel room window overlooking the Los Angeles cityscape at night.

Trailer didn't do much for me, but Im a fan of Hemsworth and old MIchael Mann films so I'll be cautiously looking forward to it

It was only a matter of time before Hemsworth played an American.

Looks cool. Really dig some of Michael Mann's stuff (specifically the three cited in the trailer aka Heat, Collateral and The Insider). But boy I wish he'd ditch digital.

Some of those shots were Wong Kar Wai-esque. Well, I consider Mann the American Wai anyways.

It looks meh and that Janurary release date doesn't inspire confidence. Still the cast is good so it will definately be watched...probably on DVD.

I forgot this thing comes out today. It's shockingly gotten lost in the shuffle of Wedding Ringer and Paddington adverts.

It's not out in the UK until Feb 20th, but the reviews haven't been too kind so far. :csad:

The world must be insane, because this movie is PHENOMENAL. 10/10 without question. It's Classic Mann. He's like a conductor orchestrating the perfect marriage of image, music, sound. It's really, really amazing stuff. Mann's best in YEARS.

And good lord, the shootouts in this movie!! And Viola Davis' performance! I'm seriously tempted to say this is my favorite Mann film EVER.

I will warn you though: If you don't like Michael Mann, and you didn't like Miami Vice, you might not like this... but I think Vice is an underrated/misunderstood gem, and the tone and the atmosphere of that film is kicked up to Eleven in Blackhat.

I really have nothing bad to say about this film. I was floored. The tension and suspense were through the goddamn roof.

My friend saw this at a screening the other night and he loved it. I'm not surprised about the reviews, though, as he said it's definitely the same controversial Mann we've gotten over the last decade. But he and I are both Miami Vice defenders and he's convinced that anyone who actually liked that movie will love this one. I'm very intrigued at this point, tbh.

If you liked Miami Vice, there's no way you won't absolutely love this movie. I love Vice and will defend it until my dying breath, and I might have to seriously ponder if Blackout is his best ever.

Dude, the tension of the last 30 minutes made me literally awe-struck. The critics got this so wrong, it's embarrassing.
