Microsoft E3 2009

I read that it is exactly that, Halo 4 the return of Master Chief, will be a launch title for the next xbox.
And, the rumors say that Gearbox is the one that is going to do it.

I think if Gearbox does a Halo title, we'll see a title from the Marines perspective. I can see it being more of a tactical game, which i would really like.

Xbox just moved up its briefing start to 10:25 am tomorrow due to a very special last-minute surprise.

Interesting.

I have seen that the 1 vs 100 US beta starts tomorrow night.

Dammit, I thought I'd be able to watch the first hour during lunch tomorrow.

:(

I'll try to play the 1v100 thing tomorrow night, I'm great at stuff like Jeopardy, so hopefully it's right up my alley.

What time zone is that? I've heard from the beginning that it was suppose to start at 10:30 am LA time. That's what 1UP had on their E3 calendar as well

I guess it would be pacific, seeing as it's in Cali.

So, what are you guys thinking about this last minute surprise?

Kojima? Itagaki? Trebek? FFVsXIII? Bioware? Alan Wake? Perfect Dark 2? BS Hype that won't amount to much of anything worth note?

I just want my Splinter Cell, some AVP3, and Modern Warfare 2 out of the next few days.

Then you probably don't care either way lol. I doubt it'll be about any of that. Well, maybe SC, but I don't know if they'd need a hyped up surprise for that

I'm always interested to see what new stuff is coming out, that I'll probably never use.

Well, Final Fantasy XIII was kind of a last minute thing last year. "Last minute" enough that Microsoft chose to push Bungie out of their presser. Which says a lot, I think.

If it were something related to Kojima, Itagaki, Alan Wake, or Final Fantasy I wouldn't think it would be much of a surprise for Microsoft. I think if those things were going to happen then they would have been in the planning stages for a while now. If it's a surprise this late in the game, then it's a surprise for Microsoft as well. Maybe a studio has thrown together a first look at something we haven't seen yet. And it couldn't be something trivial, otherwise Microsoft wouldn't have altered their schedule. What I'm thinking is that perhaps Rockstar has decided to show The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Well, I'm sure this surprise has been in the work. This 'last minute' push back is probably just hype, I'd say if it were really that last minute, they'd just run over 4-5 minutes. I doubt it'd be a big deal

Keighley say that, his sources say that opening is musical in nature.
Which might mean they will do a 2007 again, and for the ones that don´t remember, it started with the Halo music, with a live orchestra, and it was amazing.

For the ones that care, Xbox 360 motion controller Gametrak Freedom has a solid release date: October 15.
Designed by third party maker Performance Designed Products (PDP), the Gametrak Freedom comes bundled with mini-game title Squeeballs: Island Party. Yours for US$69.99.
Instead of one sensor bar like the Wii uses, Gametrak Freedom uses two sensors that are placed on either side of your TV. Expect the PS3 to get a Gametrak controller sometime in 2010.

The question is, will it get any support, especially if MS releases its own motion controller/camera?

This. But I'm naturally cynical.

That would be neat, but that is really not worth making a hype move of delaying the conference 5 minutes. It's obviously a ploy for attention, and surely they wouldn't want attention just for music

Gearbox won't be making the next Halo game. Microsoft already has a studio set up to make Halo 4 called Spawnpoint Studios that is staffed by Ryan Peyton of Kojima Productions, Corrine Yu of Gearbox Software and her husband Kenneth Scott of id Software, David Wu of Software Interactive, and Frank O'Connor of Bungie.

Last year it was pretty great actually. They show the full conference live and commerical free. They usually take about 15-20 minutes before and after to do a roundtable about the conference too

Nintendo knows that their show was horrible last year and even admitted to it. They did say that they will try better.

Let us hope they actually do, and aren't just churning hollow bullets

"Try better" probably means they'll do the same thing, except they'll throw everyone who isn't a 14-year-old girl or someone's grandparent a bone in the form of some new variant on the Mario, Zelda, or Metroid franchises.
