Microsoft E3 2009

I haven't really "gamed on the go" since I got my driver's license back in high school. I see nothing wrong with people who do though. I personally don't see an age limit for it and neither do a lot of other people it seems. I've noticed a lot of adults playing DS over the past couple of years. And I don't mean adults like me in their 20's, but "real" adults in their 30's and 40's. Whenever I'm in a waiting room, sometimes I'll see almost as many parents playing DS as kids. Or passing it back and forth. As a gamer I think it's pretty cool to see and very encouraging.

I hear this. I mean screw what's 'cool', if you enjoy it and all, shouldn't really matter.

I find that odd.

Lol, why?

They probably can't stand him long enough to have elongated relations with him. They know he's not going anywhere

I'm subscribing to keep up with everything that is announced.

I mostly just want to find out when FFXIII is due out.

Joystiq has their annual E3 Bingo card up on the website with some crazy and not so crazy announcement theories making the card.

Cool, I hope that means the price of the older models will go down some. If they do I might finally pick one up

Interview with Tomonobu Itagaki about his next game. Not real details revealed, but he promises he will be at E3 next month. I could see him being at the MS conference
But he also say that he is not going to show anything yet, it´s too early in development.

I'm surprised that Microsoft didn't set him up with his own studio the moment he left Tecmo.
I thought that several times too, and my idea is that MS will announce Itagaki as being a MS developer when they announce a new exclusive game from him.
I was right in the new exclusive 360 game, but, after reading in that same interview that he is still flexible on the making games for the PS3 part, i believe it might not happen.
But it´s cool to know that the man is still working, something that i never doubted.

Itagaki making games for a PlayStation platform will never happen. He downright hates it.

Yep, for whatever reason, he's a total Xbox fanboy and anti-Sony fanboy to top that off. Most likely he's not going anywhere, so I doubt MS is that worried about it

Monday, June 1 at 10:30am PST, Microsoft kicks off E3 with its annual press conference. During the presser, you'll be witness to a number of new announcements and see some games showcased for the very first time. IGN will be there every step of the way. But when the curtains close around noon, don't shut down your computer. We have more.

As soon as the conference ends, we'll have exclusive previews of three of the biggest games shown during the press conference. Here's a hint: one was announced a while back, two are being announced at the show. While you'll see demos of both during the press conference, we'll have brand new bonus videos for each game and greater details. Trust us -- these games will not disappoint.

Hope the already announced one is Alan Wake.

I bet the other two are one from Rare and one from the recently bought Big Park

Yeah. I think one of those games is going to be the next Molyneux/Lionhead Studios game.

Lionhead is off to LA for this year's E3 and will give a big presentation at the Microsoft press conference on Monday! Watch this space!

I hope MS has more than 3 big games at E3. Maybe those 3 are only those IGN will get exclusive info on.

Some games I hope we see...Alan Wake, Halo: ODST, Forza Motorsport 3, Splinter Cell: Conviction, (like Isildur's Heir mentioned) Rare game, Big Park Studios game and of course Lionhead's new game.

Well, I'm assuming the one they mean by announced awhile back is probably ODST. It's not been confirmed that it'll be excluded in playable form as far as I know, and it's almost a no brainier to be there. One of the others is probably Forza 3 since I don't believe it's been formally announced yet.

The other one is up in the air. I'd like for Alan Wake to be one of them, but I'm not holding my breath or anything. Also doubtful on Conviction as well. We may see a video or something, but I'd say Ubisoft is most likely saving the playable stuff for their post-conference attendance

I really want to see some ODST gameplay & if there's going to be a limited edition. It's my third most anticipated game of the year after MUA2 & MW2.

I'll be quite surprised if ODST doesn't have a limited edition of some sort. Seems just have every halfway big title gets some form of one nowadays

Is this new?

Cast aside any doubts you may have about Microsoft's motion thingy. This is from a Microsoft job listing...

Are you interested in shipping innovative games that will change the way people play? If so, we want you to join our team to work on an amazing next-generation project, built from the ground up, in Microsoft Game Studios. We are building a NEW GAME STUDIO from the ground up that will revolutionize both WHAT you play and HOW you play. You have the chance to get in on the ground floor and work with professionals responsible for some of the industry's greatest innovations to date.

My doubts were gone about that awhile back, but the fear and hate is just beginning

Haha.

No need to fret. This thing will either be massive flop and be forgotten about, or it will be a moderate success and be a niche thing. I think the Wii pretty much owns the motion control market. Microsoft and Sony and other game developers look at the Wii and they think that the key to it's success is the motion control. Which in a way it is. But they look at it and think that if they can do the motion stuff "better" than Nintendo then the casual audience will suddenly migrate over to the 360. But the thing that Microsoft and their ilk need to understand is that people don't play Wii to have deep and immersive experiences. They play Wii because most of the games are simple and fun and, assuming the controls are done well, intuitive. They don't want to "pretend" they're in the game and act out the scenarios on screen they just want to have a bit of fun for twenty minutes to an hour or so.

That would be the ideal possibility to happen. I'll still probably hate it to an irrational degree. It's like the Eye Toy all over again:)

If Microsoft hogs the technology and Sony and Nintendo don't develop things similar, then I agree, it'll be like the Eye Toy all over again.

That said, I did enjoy the Eye Toy :woot:
