Microsoft E3 2009

Just out of curiosity, how many of you honestly thought that Alan Wake would actually be there?

I had honestly forgotten about the game. I thought that we'd never see it.

Same here. I know there was rumors about it being there, but there were last year....and the year before that. I figured it would end up vaporware

I didn't know and I didn't care. I was still going to get it regardless.

Well I had doubts it would ever come out period. Much less next year

I didn't know if it was going to come out next year, or the year after, or whether it was going to be shown at e3 or not at all.

I wasn´t expecting Alan Wake, but there was a major possibility of it to happen.
It was now or never, because the game couldn´t go one more year without being shown.

Oh, well, you made it sound like you thought it would be a specific title, like MGS4. This is more of a franchise move since this looks to be a new title and possibly new direction for the series

*raises hand*

I knew it would be there. I wasn't expecting to be disappointed with what I saw, though.

Metal Gear is one of the last major 3rd party franchise exclusive to the PS3. MS has been working hard to get those for the 360. I was 100% that MGS4 would never go there but I wasnt ruling out any future titles. I actually thought the the 360 would get its own version of MGO, but Im not surprised by this latest announcement at all

You were disappointed is what Darth is probably surprised at

Pandamar, that's your cue to tell us why you were disappointed

I was disappointed for no Rare :(

Looking at exclusives, in 2009 we have, so far:

Halo 3: ODST
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Left 4 Dead 2
Forza 3

But 2010, now that sounds even better:

Mass Effect 2
Alan Wake
Halo: Reach
Crackdown 2
Gears of War 3 (well, we all know that almost a given)

Okay, okay! Geez Teardrop, keep your panties on!

I thought that Alan Wake was going to be a little more Heavy Rain and less Resident Evil. And it isn't even that I was really disappointed, it's just that as I was watching the gameplay I came to the realization that it wasn't going to be the game I was hoping it to be. "Running around with a flashlight. Got a nice psychological horror vibe going. Okay, blasting a crowd of enemies with a shotgun. Another third person shooter. Gotcha. No longer interested." was pretty much my thought process while watching. It looks good, I'm just no longer interested in it.

Forza, the most definitive racing experience of this generation, so definitive we'll say it 15 times.

I wasn't rushing you, I was just saying in case you didn't get the message. If I could keep them on I would, but you're off sniffing them somewhere you nasty perv:o

Interested or not, that´s up to you, but c´mon, you saw 5 minutes of gameplay.
It will be heavy on story, episodic like a tvshow, very psychological...i´m betting it will be way more than just a 3rd person shooter

If I understand him right, I think he's saying he was expecting something more like an interactive story (like Heavy Rain and IP were), as opposed to a just game with a story.

Looks like ODST is being full priced and will have a $99 Collector's Edition:

Halo 3 ODST may be a spin-off, but Microsoft wagers that enough content will be packed into the game's box to warrant a $59.99 price tag.

Bungie Studios has suggested that Halo 3 ODST won't be as long as Halo 3. So why will it run the cost of a full game?

Here's a list of the included content according to information released by Microsoft to the press today:

-Halo 3 ODST Campaign, which puts the player in control of different characters in New Mombasa during the events leading up to Halo 3.
-Halo 3 ODST "Firefight" mode, "a new cooperative multiplayer* mode where up to four players can assume the role of an ODST squad and fight together to take on increasingly challenging waves of enemies." Also: "As an ODST squad, you will face increasingly challenging waves of enemies together, striving to earn the highest scores possible, while various "Halo 3" "Skulls" are progressively activated." (It sounds to us like Gears of War 2's Horde mode.)
-Three new Halo 3 multiplayer maps on a standalone disc
-The more than 20 downloadable maps previously released for Halo 3 in the Legendary, Heroic and Mythic map packs.
-A key to the forthcoming multiplayer beta for the fall 2010 Bungie game Halo: Reach

(The new game is said to support all of Halo 3's main features, including four-player co-op, campaign scoring, screenshots and Forge multiplayer map editing)

In addition, Microsoft will sell a $99 Collectors Edition of Halo 3 ODST that ships with the above elements and an exclusive ODST Xbox 360 controller.

Maybe there is more to the game, but I can't make blind judgements on what they didn't show. I can only form an opinion about what I know, and right now based on that, Alan Wake isn't something I'm terribly excited to experience. But there are many months ahead for them to show different gameplay that might be more up my alley so who knows?

Crackdown - Awesome.
Modern Warfare 2 and timed exclusive maps - awesome.
Splinter Cell - Hell yeah awesome.

Alan Wake - Who?
Natal - Could be amazing.
Metal Gear - Pretty indifferent.

As for Halo ODST and Reach, Jesus Christ, milk that cow for all it's worth. Give me a break.
