Mighty Avengers returns in Infinity.

I still don't understand why Spider-Man is even included in a book featuring minority heroes of Marvel.

Not to mention that it's a "chubby white man stuck inside of another white man's body" version of Spider-Man. :o

Haven't you noticed? Superior Spider-Man is selling really well right now... so he must be ****ed out no matter what! He's actually the main thing keeping me away from the book.

Me too and I love Superior. I'd love to read a book about all minority heroes but not when they're purposely forcing stuff like that in the way. It makes me not want to read it on principle alone.

Do you not read the other Avengers books that feature Spidey (and Wolverine)? Cuz their presence is just as forced there.

I only read the Avengers books by Hickman and he only appears in 1 of the 2. Actually, he doesn't even play that big a role in the main Avengers book. So I guess I should be asking you if you even read them....

Spidey and Wolverine have been appearing in Avengers books for quite a while before Hickman took over. I never said anything about how big his role is...have they said anything about how big his role is in Mighty Avengers?

Is Spider-Man mentioned or shown as acting "out of character" in Hickman's Avengers?

I bet the "Spider" in Mighty Avengers turns out to be Miles Morales all along...

:yay:

Yes, he's pretty condescending to the other Avengers. He even ate some of Cannonball's specially-formulated salad that was clearly marked. :otto:

But seeing as it's SpOck, then he's acting very much "in character"...

But not "out if character" enough to make everyone run to Dr.Strange...

:yay:

Gahh... puke.

And I'd actually definitely give Mighty a stronger consideration if it were Miles and not SpOck... though I've not read anything with him in it.

Well, I don't know if you're reading any of the Spider books right now but some of the Avengers have noticed Spidey's change in behavior. Ock is just good at misleading them when they get suspicious. The Avengers forced him to undergo an exam, but no one like Pym or Stark was around to notice his irregular brain patterns. Then they put him on probation but he got their trust back after Carrion possessed a few heroes in Superior Team Up #1.

But now that reminds me, is Dr. Strange in any books right now? I feel like I haven't seen him anywhere since AvX ended.

Reports are coming in that Marvel isn't happy with the orders of Mighty Avengers #1 and have been trying to play the race card already.

I think it has more to do with Avengers overkill going on. Fans have reached their breaking point.

I completely agree. It's exactly as I said earlier in this thread, what we're seeing is a brand implosion of the Avengers brand because of the oversaturation of Avengers titles. Add in a no-name writer, an artist that turns more people off, and a cast composed of mostly Z-listers at best and the end result is going to be a disaster.

God I remember back when there was only 2 Avengers books (Avengers and West Coast) but now I can barely keep track of the number of books with Avengers in the title. This is the same problem the X-men had a few years ago but Marvel hasn't learned its lesson

There should only be 4 books at the most. Avengers and West Coast Avengers as the main books and Young Avengers and something else as the spin offs. Let them crossover once per year against a classic villain. Same goes for X-Men.

If this is the case, I really hope racial bias isn't the go to reason. I won't be buying the title because the team seems, in my opinion, unbelievably bland and redundant. Luke Cage? Power Man? She-Hulk? Three heroes whose powers boil down to punching things in the face. What is this: Team super strength? Pick one - we don't need all three.

It's a shame. Blue Marvel, Spider-Man/Spock, and Photon are interesting characters. The rest are just rehashes of the same power sets with slight variations.

Plus, Greg Land. Gross.
