Mission: Impossible - Fallout

I'd love for McQuarrie to stay (and I said the same thing about Brad Bird right after GP), but that seems unlikely as it goes against Cruise's M.O. for the series.

The odd thing about that though is that 3, 4 & 5 have all looked (visually) exactly the same, with 5 looking the best.

I hate how 2 sticks out like a sore thumb.

Heres a boat sequence idea for the ending of the next movie

Ethan is chasing the big bad. They eventually end up on jet skis & they have a chase in the ocean. Ethan has a grappling hook on him & a Grenade Launcher. Why a grappling hook you ask ? Because there are also a **** load of Fighter Jets in the sky failing miserably at taking Ethan down. But his jet ski gets blown up eventually. So Ethan than uses the Grappling Hook & the Fighter Jets & he simply swings in mid air above the ocean & he catches up to the main bad guy for the final fight
I'm wary of introducing fighter jet stunts into any franchise I love. Blame Die Hard. :oldrazz:

I think 3's aesthetic is actually quite noticeably different, but I agree about 4 & 5. And 2. Just watched that one for the first time in years. Yikes.

3 has horrible shakey cam. 4 and 5 have clean action sequences.

Ethan is on the runaway of a military base. The bad guy is going for a fighter jet.

Ethan looks at an air transport plane.

Ethan gives a look like "Nope. Never going on one of those again" (Nod to Rogue Nation)

He jumps in a fighter jet and pursues the bad guy

Aha, yes, thank you. No fighter jets! I say crazy boat or submarine stunt should be next.

Submarine might be difficult as Tom likes to be able to do these stunts himself and I am not really sure what he could do with a sub, unless they did some kind of insane tacking shot of him helo jumping and track him right to the point he enters the sub underwater. :D

I stilll want Justin Lin tbh and like others have said, I hope this time it isn't about them going rogue like the last 2 movies.

Hate to break it to you but with the exception of the second one, every one of them has Ethan going rogue.

He got disavowed in the first one because they thought he was a traitor.

He got arrested by IMF in the third one because they thought he was a traitor.

You knew what you were in for with John Woo. Blame yourself. :o

Hasn't John Woo directed some great films though? Outside the Hollywood system, when he has full creative power he usualy delivers some very well liked films.

John Woo doesn't suit what Mission Impossible goes for. It was just a bad script with the wrong combination of director and franchise.

At the time i don't think the franchise even knew what it wanted to be, it found the right footing with III and has stayed very consistent since then. I and II feel more experimental, with a style that is much different than what came after. III-Rogue Nation have all had a different feel to them, but they seem more closely linked and closer in style.
