How do we prefer him? Do we prefer a relatively old (45-50yrs) take on the Joker, like Jack Nicholson- or a relatively young (20-30yrs) take on the Joker, like Heath Ledger? I think the Joker's character can be affected by age.

how old should he be or how old will he be?

I'm just wondering if having a relatively young Joker, such as Heath, could damage the character a little? I've always known the Joker as being relatively old, and I think the older representations of the Joker are far more effective than the younger representations. There's just something about a 40yrs+ Joker which makes him so believeable.

What if we think he should be 30-45?

Then I suppose that would fall into the "middle-aged" bracket. But Heath is young, and Nicholson was old, so this is what got me thinking. Do we prefer the older Joker, or the younger Joker?

I'd prefer a well acted Joker... Couldn't care about his age. As long as he's not 12 or 90 I'm happy.

I think Heath can pull off the look of an older Joker. The receded hairline and hollow face help.

i think there was not even an option to cast an old guy. they need those characters young IMO.

Since this is the reboot of the franchise, Ledgers current age is right. In the comics, I imagine the Joker to be about 40 though.

And I always cringe when I read/hear "Mista J" or "Mister J"

Could you imagine a relatively young Joker stating old-fashioned mottos? I think an older version of the Joker would be better suited in that respect. I don't know, just curious.

Don't be hatin' on Harley Quinn, lol.

I really don't care how old he is as long as the portrayal is good. I like the direction TDK is taking so far with the Joker, can't wait for more.

You want old-fashioned dialogue like this in the movie?

Ledger is 27 I think, so he we have a young Joker.

Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker was quite old-fashioned, so could you imagine a younger person portraying the same character? It might seem a bit weird if a young person is stating old-fashioned mottos, and what not. I think there is a difference between a young Joker, and an old Joker. A young Joker might be hasty and reckless, whereas an old Joker might be experienced, and might make Batman feel like an infant. How do we prefer him?

I think Ledger is too young for The Joker, at first glance, though his acting talent should be enough to silence such doubts. But on the other hand, I also think Jack Nicholson was too old for The Joker.

I see The Joker, age-wise, as between his early 30s and mid 40s.

Yeah, this is what I'm talking about.

young joker=more scary

umm...explain yourself

Because i would be scared of an older Joker around his 40s. The way I see it, Mark Hamill's Joker seemed realitively in his late 30s to early 40s. The result created a more experienced, old-fashioned character. He was like the adult still trying to hold on to a childhood once lost. And an adult acting as carlessly as a kid with a gun....now thats scary:wow:

Whys your video only rated 2? :csad: Best effort I've seen

Yes, I agree with the age frame of late-thirties to mid-forties. Sounds about right. I'm sure that Ledger will look older than he actually is, though. They did it on Brokeback Mountain, they can definately do it here. If not, who says it might not work on screen either way?

well im just sayin like heath will be freaky...freakier than nicholson on the murder like side...younger joker seems scarier to me(and the new scars on the cheeks sure do make it even better)

Younger - Mainly because I want someone who can go toe to toe with Batman/Wayne.

An older Joker...? Well, I just see ol' Bats breaking his hip and calling it a night.
