We're dealing with batman year 1 pretty much... when batman is in his late 30s i imagine joker to be a similar age, if not a tad bit younger. especially in this film when everyone is pretty much at the beginning of their lives in the batman universe.

I always felt the Joker was a character who completely transcended the concept of "age" in both how he looked and acted. With almost any other character I can place a fairly definitive age on them, and have the character work in that bracket, but it seems that the Joker defies the human psyche to such an extent that giving him an "age" almost breaks the character.

When bringing him to film though, I think a 25-35 Joker is the way to go, not only for the energy level that that type of actor can provide, but also simply because it puts Joker on the same level with Batman, which is integral to the character in my opinion. Ones of those things where two characters, who at their very barest are the same, but once you build on top of that skeleton, see that they go in entirely opposite directions.

I dont know really, I havent thought about it, and cant really imagine what age he would be.

I've always thought of him as a few years older than Bruce, to give him some room to have had something of a life before he went mad.

Nicholson-type 15 or 20 years older is too much, generally, but say 30 when he became the Joker, while Batman was 25 or whatever.

I like my Joker to be relatively the same age as Batman. Maybe a year or so older. It's that yin and yang thing.
