Action-Adventure Mortal Kombat 2

Shao Kahn actually looks pretty nightmarish.

I still really wish the casting were swapped for Asano and Sanada, but oh well.

Looks promising. Fingers crossed.

Also, I read a spoiler that the main character of the last film dies within the first 20 minutes. Unfortunate but understandable, considering the fan response.

However, after seeing his exquisite villain turn in Cobra Kai, it would be cool if they brought Lewis Tan back to play his character as a resurrected undead acolyte of someone else and just go full-on, scenery chewing bad guy. Scorpion II, Cyber Initiative, a Revenant, whatever. Give the character a bit of a rehabilitation and cinematic redemption.

As not great as of a character Cole Young was, Lewis Tan is a great actor and could be really a memorable and entertaining onscreen presence if you give him the right material, so it would be a shame and a waste if they just decided to not bring him back for another film just because the role he played didn’t properly showcase what he can really bring to the table.

Just rework and revamp the character to play to Tan’s strengths as an actor and martial artist, and I guarantee you’d get something really special.

The new piKs look fatality to me.

The Katana outfit looks like it Kame out straight from MKX.

I’ve said the before but they could turn Cole into a reworked Takeda easily enough.

They could've done Lewis Tan as a reworked Johnny Cage. Who even thinks Johnny Cage is his real name? Liu Kang also would've been a more suitable lead for the first film.

Not a fan of the new looks for Shao Khan and Scorpion. Will Scorpion actually have a character arc this time?

I don't even get this movie getting a sequel. It wasn't a good film. It wasn't well reviewed either. It made even less money than the 1995 Paul Anderson film did domestically, and that film is THIRTY YEARS OLD.

They had 26 years to make a new movie and this is what they came up with? OK.

Exactly.

We all know his real name is Johnny Coppola.

I also think it was cowardly on the producers part for not casting a black woman to be Kitana, if they already went there with Mileena and that’s her clone.

But whatever.

All of this.

I’ve always thought it was the funniest thing that Nic is such a comic book nerd that he picked a stage name based on Luke Cage. AND named one of his sons Kal-El.

I don’t know if he has dogs, but if so, I’m guessing they are named Norrin Radd, Etrigan and MODOK.

Yeah, I’m sure he wouldn’t be doing much stunt work anyway but it just dawned on me that he’s in this after his career really blew up.

Crazy to think it's been 22 years since his first major Hollywood role in The Last Samurai, but he's been steadily working in Hollywood since then. And it's only now he's getting the award buzz because of Shogun. No offense to Ken Watanabe fans, but he's consistently been the better performer out of the Japanese talent in that film.

I think Sanada has a tad bit more range than Ken does IMO. Though both are great actors.

I said it about the first movie but Tan should have just been Johnny Cage. He could have played that character easily and I would much rather that than whatever Cole Young was.

Poor Lewis Tan. His demotion from the lead seems really unfair to me. Not his fault the character he got cast as was so bland. Meanwhile the director involved in making that choice (and making an overall meh movie) gets rewarded with a sequel.
