Mortal Kombat: Legacy

The efforts there ..... but the reality of it is Mortal Kombat is a story that can only be told accurately if given the big treatment.

I tried to ground my inner critic based on the fact it was a "webisode" and had it's obvious budget constraints. I'm just not feeling this yet.

Too much gun play for a movie that is supposed to be about hand to hand combat. BTW, after seeing the trailer I still think Sub-Zero's look is awful.

I think that's Scorpion's wife. What is this....

When I saw it quickly in the trailer, I thought it was Baraka but it doesn't look like him. Some bug eyed troll.

As for episode one, I thought it was typical of what you'd expect from a low budget series. Kano was good. I want an episode to blow me away, hopefully that's Scorpion vs Sub-Zero. Quan Chi comes across as so lame.

Reptile, maybe?

Reptile, maybe?
Yes, he is.
Just look at his face...and his cloth. It's greenish...dark green, I think.

Baraka is shown as well, in the trailer. He is lifting somebody up, the whole scene is filmed from side. Just check the trailer again.

Ah, yes. I didn't think he was going to be in it.

They didn't have to be so literal in his translation. There was a time in MK when he was just a regular ninja, however the key factor was his fighting technique. That is what truly made him "reptile" ....

in the factory that kano and his henchman were in, are they making cyrax and sektor? The head mask looked very similar, not to mention in the preview they actually showed them.

First episode was better than I thought it'd be, but still needs work. Like others have said the choreography was bad; you could almost see the actors moving through each "planned" move. The Kano/Jax fight was the worst contender for this.

I liked Kano's throwback to the original MK:
"They're here."
"...right on time."

Made me chuckle. The guy playing Kano has nothing on Trevor Goddard, though. Still, I'm intrigued and I didn't hate it. Hope the next one is good.

Looked like they were shipping the parts to the Lin Kuei. Hopefully they gave a tracking number.

I'm not sure about this. I saw this episode and it seemed like a whole lotta nothing. I'll have to see more of them to make an actual opinion

The only choreographed part that i thought looked choreographed was when Kano grabbed the gun why didnt he just shoot Jax. Of course this first episode doesnt scream MK, Jax Stryker Sonya are all cops they use guns first.

I didn't mind the shooting. It's no different from the MK movie when Sonya went after Kano in the club. I find it pretty amazing though that they introduced the laser eye.

Better than I expected,But eh I really wish it was set mostly in Outer-Realm and that the costumes were much more closer as possible to the ones in the games(MK1&2 suits are perfect for low-budget)

It was ok, I enjoyed seeing Helo in something again.

I thought the first episode was pretty cool, I wasn't looking for anything too over the top, just a nice introduction of things to come. I think future episodes will progressively get better. Still can't wait to see Scorpion vs Sub-Zero

Its baraka. If you pause it right when the fighting start you can see that thing with blades coming from its arms.

edit found it.

ok so what easter eggs have people seen so far i think only smokes original cyber helmet at the start

If that's Baraka I'll laugh. It looks absolutely nothing like Baraka, wtf?

For easter eggs, that Smoke one was cool at first until they overdid it. They should've just had the one shot at the start, but then it goes to a closeup and I'm pretty sure a guy even picks it up later when Kano picks up the cyber-eye. Easter eggs are only cool if they're shown for a short time.

Another egg I caught though is when Kano is sent flying from the explosion. There's a sign where he falls that says "Caution: Eye Protection Mandatory In This Area". Dunno if it was intentional, but still funny.

This is Baraka http://www.mobypicture.com/user/KTANCH/view/8967156

So, it looks like they are taking the original idea (the one they made a short video short of with Jeri Ryan and Michael Jai White) and making it more like the game. Instead of the ultra realistic version, more like the game perhaps.

Most fan films fail because they're impenetrable and uninspired. I liked this so much because Tancharoen's vision communicates the story, and not the other way around. I can enjoy it visually without knowing squat about MK and get a stronger idea of what MK's about than some "professional" movies on pop icons I've paid $10 for. Hope this whole crew finds lots of work in the future.
