Mortal Kombat

NEIGH!

That guy with the six arms or whatever

NO I TAKE THAT BACK!

The baddy Japanese guy who's in everything

Lambert's voice and delivery sucked imo.
He didn't seem very godly to me.

Anyways, this reboot will most probably have a fresh new cast, although I'd be amazed for it to be anywhere as good as Batman Begins or Casino Royal given the subject material.

The MK universe does have the most elaborate story of all fighters, and some of the most interesting characters, yet it is still a shallow concept, and Midway has mixed up the continuity many times.

I hope for a solid R rating, amazing choreography, advanced effects, serious as can be story, and the updated looks of the Deadly Alliance to Armageddon trilogy instead of the tired mustard, relish, ketchup ninjas and bland designs.

If they used the costumes designs from Deadly Alliance, along with tone, the movie would be awesome.

Pfft. Just make "Deadly Alliance" the movie

The problem I see with making a DA movie, or even continuing a reboot with a sequel, is the massive amount of characters involved.
You just can't pay everyone justice in regular movie time, there ends up being poor development for all, or mediocre development for the main characters, and none whatsoever for the supporting ones.
One of the reasons I didn't like X3 so much, characterization was spread way thin.
This movie will probably suffer the same fate, but whats to expect from this genre anyways?

I agree about the character amount, yes.
True also about the genre.

But y'all seem to like the first movie where is mainly had three characters from the game with at least some character element. The rest were baddies and it seemed alright. It was basically "these guys are baddies fight them" and that seemed alright.

But...I think if the filmmakers wanted to ccontinue it, then theyd have to ask us the fans what our favourite characters were so on average they could put the most favourite in (eg top 5m goodies top 5 baddies.)

I can already see Sub-Zero and Scorpion in this. :D

So, they are making a MK movie? I'll have to look around for it.
They can do the Xmen formula it seemed to work okay. Just take a few 'good' guys and do a little backround via flashbacks or dialog, and same with 'bad' guys.
Though MK has been out of the publics eyes for years not sure how well this will work. Will have to have some major cgi/fighting to have any chance. Though having the MK tag will either hurt it or help it,but in anyway I don't think this will be a 'blockbuster'.....

ok, I've only read the last two pages of this thread, but has there ever been any MK anime? I know there are several Street Fighter dvds, but I've never seen any Mortal Kombat, and it just seems like a series of those would be the best way to cover everyone's stories and develop any characters.

How exactly would it be a rip off? Except for the fact that both are fighting games at their roots, they don't share any similarities.

Well Street Fighter is anime in style, and making Mortal Kombat in anime would appear Mortal Kombat wants to be like Street Fighter - almost as if SF is the more popular of the two.

It's hard to explain.

I still think it would be a rip-off though

crap, now that I think about it, I forgot about that MK cartoon from back in the day

MK3 is going to be directed by Mink. That says it all. This WILL suck. Even the first was pretty bad. The only MK movie that could work would be an epic R-rated free for all ala 300. The thing is...the MK mythos is badly written. It's derivative and dull. A poor mans Lord Of The Rings. It'd take a GENIUS to turn MK into a good movie.

There was also a live-action show with that chick from Terminator 3.

Liu Kang: Will Yun Lee Johnny Cage: Chris Evans Sonya Blade: Tricia Helfer/Elisha Cuthbert (perhaps I'll get flamed for that ) Kano: Colin Farrell Jackson "Jax" Briggs: Bobby Lashley (yeah let's give him a movie role ) Kitana/Mileena: Eva Green Raiden: Chow Yun Fat Reptile/Scorpion/Sub Zero: Martial Artist (voices can be anybody preferably Ed Boon) Shang Tsung: Some talented Japanese/Hong Kong actor (Ken Watanabe ain't a bad choice either) *Dammit why can't my post appear as a list.*

Nah! I say Johnny Cage and Bridgette Wilson as Sonja were the highlight of the film!

Cage vs. Scorpion was the 2nd best fight of the movie - the best was Liu vs. Reptile-

Keith Cooke owns all.

its not derived from LOTR... see Enter the Dragon

I love this movie.
Best video game movie ever.
Oh and Mortal Kombat Annihilation sucks big time.
Hope they remake this movie soon.

Sorry but that seemed a bit contradictory. "Yeah I love this movie but it needs to be remade - AND FAST!"

Alls I'm saying.
