i was just watching the rundown (awesome fights) and was thinking, if they had that little guy that's doing all the flipping and crazy-fast punching in the jungle scene in a mk movie, or a fight with that kind of speed and energy, that would be mind-blowing. the fights in the first mk movie were cool, for their time, but they would definetly need to update the fighting styles with what can be pulled off in a movie nowadays. not saying i wouldn't want to see a fight in the vain of scorpion vs johnny cage, cuz thats still great, but something more than matrix-style blocking and deflecting. i understand they trained the actual actors for something like that (which i believe should happen more often) but its too clean looking. not suggesting that they NEED to show bones breaking in peoples faces, altho i'd be all for that, they just have to come off with a sene of realistic fights to the death. the actors or choreography needs to look intense, fast and above all else, brutal. with a combination of some abilities thrown in there, it would make for a great scene every time.
that being said, they should reboot the franchise sticking as close to the consistent storyline from the games. it shouldn't be johnny cage alone fighting goro, but with the help of sonya and kano (as in the original games storyline). during this is when scorpion would kill the older sub-zero, because that definetly needs to be a sub-plot (scorpion seeking revenge).
also, i was doing some reading up on the characters and their storylines though the games on wikipedia and found it interesting that bo rai'cho was liu kangs teacher. if they never make enough movies to use him as a main character (deadly alliance/defiance) then he should definetly be shown as his teacher in the movie
