The first MK had a pretty darn good cast. Except for Sonya, I thought everyone was great. I think it'll be difficult to get people as awesome as Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Linden Ashby. I think they were also lucky with Robin Shou as Liu Kang. I thought he was really likeable and made the boring Liu Kang more interesting.

Well, considering Jason Statham is basically real life Kano, I'd be all for it.

I'd have to agree that they really nailed the cast with the first MK movie. IMO it'll be hard to top a lot of those guys. Lambert, Ashby, Shou, that-guy-who-played-Shang, and especially Trevor Goddard as Kano are going to be tough roles to live up to.

Ryan Reynolds should be Johnny Cage, hes the only one i can see pull off something like Ashby.

But hows reynolds martial marts skills? I know he's good with a sword but Ive never seen him do martial arts, Im sure it wouldnt be hard for him.

For some reason I always liked Raiden as a protector of the earth fighters during the tournament and not actually competing if that make sense. For Liu kang theres no one present in hollywood who could carry what Tagawa did.

For Kitana hmmmm I am thinking along the lines of Kate Beckinsale & Rhona Mitra & Angelina Jolie ? Since Kitana is old but still has her youth look they can get away with someone a little older unlike with Sonya

but it'll probably be tough to get Evans seeing as how he's already attached to Captain America

I prefer them using the a similar storyline from Deadly Alliance/Deception/Armageddon. That would make an amazing trilogy.

Or lord no. That whole Shujinko, Onaga and giant Pyramid stuff was awful. Those games also introduced some of the most useless characters. Almost anyone past MK3 was forgettable.

Anyone else have trepidation over this? The web series was ok for its limited budget, but even taking that into consideration it had a very cheap feel to it. I'm glad the guy is clearly a passionate fan, but that's not even half the battle. You still need the talent to bring that love to life in a meaningful way.

I have no qualms with this guy running it. He clearly has an idea of the universe and even if you disagree with him you can't argue he did worse than Mortal Kombat 2 which was a terrible, terrible movie in its own right.

The actress who played Kitanna..isn't she half Asian? I haven't seen all of the 'Legacy' episodes but if they choose not to use her, I'd say use a similar approach of getting an actress of Asian descent, including if she's mixed. That's why I liked Talisa Soto in the original Mortal Kombat movie; though shes not Asian (Italian/Puerto Rican) she was exotic looking with an ambiguous look.

I honestly wonder if Sonya will break a person's neck in this movie with her legs, like she did in MK and MK2. I hardly played the games, but is that a finisher move of hers

As for this reboot, about time. Legal troubles adn what not delayed MK3 too long. Time is for reboot adn I like the director. Just keep MJW as Jax and Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion. Ms. Ryan is a bit old for Sonya.
