No it wasn't. Did anyone think it was going to be good?
There's no way it could've been good enough.

I'll agree with those. Not as good as people seem to make them out to be. Off the list, X3 was the most disappointing, followed by Superman Returns and Dungeons and Dragons. I had strong hopes for X3, didn't care much for SR after casting was revealed (and how can a movie be three hours with little dialogue and action!?) and the Lord of the Rings trilogy quickly made up for the D&D's lack of goodness.

Exactly, I dont think people are understanding the question.

Then I guess the topic creator doesn't understand his own question either or it wouldn't be on the list.

I guess it takes fresh eyes-
In the words of Kathleen Turner on the Simpsons - "YOU ALL HAVE HORRIBLE HAIR"...Taste...in movies.

Sure the new guy can point and laugh until he gets his weight up.

[Take a comic related movie] - [subtract your own original view of the original work] - [any setimental feelings around the movies release and your own personal situations] + [the fact that directors have to appise fans, people who've never heard of it, studio's and era of filmaking] / [by the fact that your an adult and movies are made for the masses] = your real opinion.

For example

Swamp Thing (1981)
He's STILL one of my altime favorite hero's-but I was like 6 when the original came out so I'm biased. Yes it was a bad work/script but I own it and it was the 80's

Did you thionk this was the most Suprising Films thread... those films kicked ass... most of em at least

The Matrix Reloaded.

I already knew that X3 was going to be shait so it wasn't a disappointment.

What was dissapointing about Matrix reloaded? It was awesome!

The Black Dahlia. The trailers made it look incredible, but it failed on so many levels when it actually came out. It certainly was not as bad as a lot of critics made it out to be, but it missed the mark on so many levels considering the trailer actually made it look like a masterpiece.

A three way tie between Blade Trinity, X3 and Phantom Menace. I had faith in all three (even though I knew X3 probably wouldn't have lived up to the other two, I thought it would still be pretty good) and felt pretty betrayed at the end.

some people were actually conned in by all the marketing that the last stand did...

they released a crap load of scenes and storyline wise it seemed to get everyone hooked and excited in the x-forums...

all this stuff about bobby icing up and sentinels and the danger room being shown and angel flying and in x-costume and with the pheonix and with storm flying and shoot lightening out of their hands.

it certainly painted a picture and ended up dissapointing quite a few peeps...

saying this, the response to the original footage was a bi-polar one, either you expected it to be turd or you thought it was going to be amazing...

You do realise that for the majority, to be dissapointed by something normally means going against the grain of what normal people would expect to find great, hence when you go in you then get dissapointed due to the original hype...

that's how it works...

either by fan based love- like tarantino films and apoc now/full metal jacket/empire strikes back, batma begins

or crazy fantastic graphic novel adaptation which are better than the film - x2,

or super great marketing based on adverts-mission impossible, spidey 2, kill bill.

i don't why y'all hung up on this...

you must be easily pleased...

i don't like films that are hyped up to the match and just dont cut it...

Youe expections are way too high. Say what you want about Tarantino but PF and RD are classics.

Agreed, but I think critics were right, this movie was one of the biggest disappointments'06.

Fantastic Four, The Punisher, and Blade Trinity. All major disappointments. Elektra doesn't deserve to even be mentioned. Way to go Avi..........

THESE WERE ALL BAD FILMS

Superman Returns.
Van Helsing.
Matrix Revelations
The League Of Extrodinary Gentlemen.
Star Wars Episode 1.
The Da Vinci Code.
X-Men 3. The Last Stand
Terminator 3 Rise Of The Machines.
Troy.
Hulk.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest.
Daredevil.
Alien v/s Predator.
Star Trek Nemesis.
Elektra.
Sky Captain And The World Of Tomarrow.
The Punisher 2004.
Men In Black 2.
Blade Trinity.
Around The World In 80 Days.
Big Mommas House 2.
Resident Evil.
Dungeons and Dragons.
Dogs Of War

but Superman/Matrix/Star wars are dissappoiting because i hoped they wld be good. But seriously, i cannot see one decent film on that list...not ONE.

Oh, you forgot to add Batman Begins.

Which disppointed the hell out of me. I saw it 4 times just to make sure, but the more i watched it the more apparent the corniness was.

The punisher
Men in Black 2
Troy

should not be on that list

X Men 3 definitely. It could have been such a brilliant trilogy. X Men is good, X2 is goddamn excellent but X3 is just cheap.
