Release 10 episodes at a time for a 20 episode season or bump it down to 13. But would anyone want that to happen?

No (and I'm not going to think about it any more). I love Netflix, but it's a different style and, sometimes, both are good. Agents of SHIELD benefits from being set in a real time moving Marvel universe. The end of last season with The Winter Soldier could not have happened on Netflix.

In addition, there's still room for paced episodic storytelling. It's worth introducing a concept and make you wait a week discussing at the water cooler what it means before they show it to you.

Agents of SHIELD isn't Daredevil. And that's OK. There's room for both.

I'd imagine that Agent Carter could move to Netflix before this one does

yep thats the main thing why AoS follows the traditional 23 ep format. also as the MCU expands theres more things to feature / crossover on AoS, i wouldnt be surprised if one day theres so much stuff going on in AoS that 23 eps doesnt seem to be enough.

And it being weekly means that MCU is on the screen nearly 30 odd weeks of the year ,not a weekend episode drop.
Its as much about advertising the project as much as anything else .

AoS gets to be the exposition machine for the franchise as there is no more origin stories in the movies coming.

Keep it as it is. But they do need to raise the standard. DD has shown how good a cb show can be. I'm sure Loeb will be demanding the producers up the ante.

Definitely not. As others have said, the tie-ins are integral to what makes AoS work.

No and I'll tell you why. DD has a tight budget which means they will have to focus a lot on keeping there story line and characters much tighter which in return will make for a much better series. Even though DD is set in same universe as Shield we probably won't see how the MU impacts the series all that much. This to is good because it allows DD to feel like a hero with out sharing the spot light. This is just a few of the reasons.

However Shield on the other hand is set in same universe but on a bigger scale. There more characters more plots going on then in DD. This of course means more money for actos, special effects, sets, etc. If they where to be pushed to Netflix AOS would blow pure and simple.

As it has been mentioned some of the appeal of AOS is the suspense of what will happen next week, where are they going with everything. That is made so much better when the movies cause a ripple effect in AOS as Captain America last year. So I like having to wait a week or two for next episode; especially when big bomb shells are dropped on us.

Each show is right where it needs to be.

If the score is a DD-like show, the moving on Netflix is a NEED. For AOS and AC.
CGI is overrated.

also the "tie in" moments are overrated, ok Cap impact directly on SHIELD, but Thor? GOTG? the tie in impact was like... zero. Why we have to keep the "Tie in thing" if it's totally unsatisfactory?

the show can't "tie in" strongly for the nature itself of the show

The current Agents of SHIELD show? No. But i wouldn't mind seeing a sort of spin-off centered around more serious spy stuff with a tighter and more grounded aproach in Netflix. Maybe they could turn the planned Nick Fury spin-off into a Netflix mini-series.

this.
A netflix spin off with some cameo from "the guys"

GotG didn't have a direct tie-in because it came out in the summer. AoS did incorporate the Kree directly into its plot both before and after the season break in a very big way, which functions as a tie-in of sorts, if one that could have been done on Netflix.

I also don't expect quite as huge of a tie-in with Age of Ulton, but it has already started laying the groundwork for the Civil War next year, which will definitely need to be expanded on in real-time.

Oh, I don't know about that, Olmos hinted otherwise in a recent interview:

Olmos adds that just as last summer's Captain America: The Winter Soldier set up Agents of SHIELD season two when it destroyed SHIELD, Olmos teases a strong connection between his run on the series and the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.

"When you see Ultron, you'll start to realize how well this show is connected," Olmos says.

Here's a reason why AoS can't premier on Netflix - Netflix allows you to watch an entire series in one sitting, which means it can't have tie-ins like the winter soldier

I really hope both Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD stay put. It was great seeing Clark on Kimmel with (most of) the gang last night!

I didn't see this. Excellent post and I concur.

Agent Carter is self contained and would be just fine with the Netflix format, not so much for AoS. One of the things I appreciate about AoS is the real time aspect. Whether I see it or not, in my mind I know that what is happening on screen now is happening before or during the movie happenings.

I'd rather let AOS live on in a weekly format. This offers them the ability to tie in to the current film releases and keeps me from binge-watching, which would deprive me of Marvel content throughout the year.

true, only saying to someone today i shouldn't have binged daredevil, better of spacing it out. Daredevil was great but there is a hangover and a withdrawal phase.

I say No to moving to Netflix, this show is bringing in money from Amazon Instant Video, and Itunes for the season passes.
