Movies that you think made too much money that shouldn't have

For recent movies:

The Hangover
Alice in Wonderland
Transformers 2
Twilight saga
Spider-Man 3

As for the Avatar argument, the movie itself was pretty groundbreaking technically (as has been constantly mentioned before). No one forced people to see it in Imax 3D and there was the standard 2D and 3D option, so don't say it only made money because of higher Imax prices. The fact that the Imax screenings were constantly selling out should be indication that enough of the general public enjoyed it enough. Cameron made a good movie. Let it go.

so TDK made money beacuse of Heath. but TS3 made money because it was good?

I don't personally believe that TDK's success was solely due to the commotion over Heath, but it definitely contributed. I thought it was one of the best movies that came out in 2008. That and WALL-E tied for best in my book.

I wonder if people are bringing up movies because they're confusing ridiculous success with movies that had no right to make any money but made a lot. Looking at S.A.A.D.'s list, I'd have to question why a movie like WALL-E or Toy Story 3 is on there. I can see someone making the case for TDK - that it's BO was inflated because of Heath's death, and I think that's agreed upon by the majority. I think everyone who went and saw it would've seen it anyway, but what the press for that movie accomplished was bringing people into theaters who normally would've waited for DVD/BD release.

The answer is simple,I just don't think they deserved to make as much money as they did,and because I personally don't dig them on any sort of level.

When 3D movies make huge sums it pisses me off because it feels like...cheating? Cheating isn't the right word but it's the first one that comes to mind. Of course a movie is going to make significantly more when the ticket price is 5 dollars extra. And in the case of Alice in Wonderland, you're actually getting way less than your money's worth.

I'm gonna have to agree with Transformers 2. I can't seem to find a single person in real life that LIKES the movie at all...and yet it made far too much money.

I know my little cousins like it. but not full grown people.

The Sixth Sense. If this had been a cult hit instead of a blockbuster, it's entirely possible that not only would we have been spared M.Night's inflated ego and unfortunate career decline, but also a host of other asinine twist-ending movies trying to ape its success.

This thread should be re-named to "Movies I Hate That Made Money."

Whatever garbage Christmas movie that Vince Vaughn comes out with this year. People will watch anything during the holiday season.

i like the money shots in TF2. 60% of the humor was not bad.

Alice in wonderland is my one seed. I still cant believe have average to plan mediocre that movie was. me and 4 other people went together to see it in 3d and we were all just bored within 25 minutes and just didnt care. I was stewing because I had paid $30 for me and my fiance's tickets in 3d then another $15 for food and drinks. the cool thing was we knew a manager there who was a friend and we told him how bad it was and he gave us free tickets for the next time we came back. I did find it amusing though seeing teenage idiots parading around the cinema dressed as alice and the mad hatter.

we have a common enemy here, I have never understood the popularity of these movies. the first one was passible but the sequels were unwatchable and all it is are scenes with rap music blaring, chicks dancing next to cars, souped up cars with underbelly lights and vin diesel and paul walker trying to look badass. I did find it funny though how the original cast minus walker all seemed to be above any sequel to the first but then 6 years later when none of them can have a hit movie bam there back and its all smiles.

the twilight franchise was made for women. and girls pay money for those movies. how is this bad or wrong?

its not like a girl made a female sueprman movie with a pink suit.

can you explain? the 4 movies will not damage the movie industry.

well you can make that argument for any movie listed here, fast and furious is made for people who soup up there cars but I can still say I dont think they deserve to make money. its all relative but I really cant stand twilight for many reasons and the most glaring one is the acting and story really are nothing to write home about. I really would like to know why these movies are so big, do teenage girls really buy into the characters and what is going on?
