MSJ talks Box Office, & GR2 and more.

indeed, its difficult though,

i mean, you have movies like "the crow", "Blade" which have set the bar high.

i doubt we will see anything as dark and haunting and visually amazing as the crow by alex proyas. Even though his Dark City movie was almost as good.

Maybe Stephen Norrington needs to come back and be given a chance to do another comic book character, I think he could bring us a good set of movies for a dark character. Ghost Rider would have been tailor made for him, just a shame he's refused to work since 2003!

Refused to work since 2003, what is this, why we can't have that at all, good talent going to waste.

Explain to me the problem so I can get my people to talk to his people so that we can get the man some decent work.:word:

I like to see MSJ direct the sequal. I hope its a bit darker but not too dark. I know the comic is darker but I think since people liked it enough that it is the number one movie 2 weeks in a row, its a good dark comedy.

apparently the problem is that Norrington and Sean Connery had disagreements on set,
with Connery refusing to listen to Norrington's suggestions or orders as you would say.

Norrington said he would never work on a movie ever again after the experience of the ex league of gentlemen. Connery said the same thing, said he would never make a movie again

Although it seems Connery is coming back for Indiana Jones 4 with Harrison Ford in 2009 probably.

As for Norrington, somebody out there must know why Norrington is not doing anything these days

A real talent going to waste.

I didn't even think ex league of gentlemen was that bad,
it was obviously not his full vision on screen, and he was hindered by the studio also

damn shame this, when the director never gets to put his vision on screen

i'd rather MSJ not direct another comic book film again. DD was bareable, GR was pretty bad, i don't wanna see what his 3rd comic movie will look like.

Amen! Sadly Hollywood will give this man more work, because his films made a profit, despite his talent being mediocre. I think the guy's heart is in the right place, but both DD and GR were flat. I liked GR better, but it was lacking. I'm hoping that SONY gets someone new, like FOX did with F42 to write the sequel, because despite that GR is doing well, I know the studio wasn't happy with the negative reviews. It cost them probably a couple of million.

I think MSJ captured the spirit as well as the origin of the DD character. Not to mention the personal growth he added to the character was quite good. It's just the plot of the film was not that compelling but otherwise the acting and direction was quite decent. Ghost rider on the other hand was just a mess.

I really just wanted to make something fun and different, something that didn't take itself too seriously.
 What?!! Ya see...this is where he may have been a little off in his overall approach to the film.

yknow what would be fun and different? a comic movie actually done right. i can see why he didnt want to take it TOO seriously, but he still should have been serious b/c he made it way to campy, it was overkill.

& THAT is why, for me, MSJ has lost all credibility as a comicbook film director

to me he never had any cause hes only done this and daredevil. he hasnt even done anything thats a action or scifi type of film or anything dark. hes done big bully with RICK MORANIS and then theres simon birch which is a good movie but its nowhere near a comic flick, theres also the two grumpy old men movies which ive never seen cause they came out when i was a kid and i have no interest in a comedy about old men. when i heard how the directors cut dvd of daredevil was better than the theatrical version i figured maybe ghost rider will be better cause cage is a huge fan so figured with him msj would have some more pull and say in how ghost rider should be. but i was very disappointed and wrong. not just from a fan of ghost rider comics or any comic perspective but just as a movie goer, the movie was done bad. he prob figured it doesnt matter if its made like crap cause he can fall back on his directors cut dvd for the movie and if thats the case, he freakn half ***'d it when making ghost rider.

and as for this
# ONE episode of SUPERMAN the animated series is BETTER than "Superman Returns"!
% do you want a movie or a cartoon?
# i want a GREAT MOVIE PROPERLY INTERPRETED from the COMIC BOOK from which it is based on!
thats so true.

i hope not. unless they get someone else to write it and direct it. basically, save it.

i hope GR follows DD's path...let them both die. the sooner the better...hopefully within our lifetime someone will remake DD and/or GR properly.

Def wouldn't mind seein a GR2

But when the hell are we gonna get DD2?! :cmad:

Fox probably won't make a DD2 because Elektra was a flop. I think MSJ said he wants to do a sequel when marvel gets the rights back.

Dark and tragic have been done. The mix of dark and tragic with the fun was what I liked, personally.

You know you are such an apologist, and boot kisser its almost tough to read. This is like the 100th time you have stated that what the comic truly is "has been done". Dark and tragic, Johnny Blaze as a drinking hell raiser.. all this has been done according to you. But you know what??? Girl in trouble, girl saved.. been done.. girl falls for monster.. know what.. been done. Hero has "hero" mentor.. been done.. Devil on earth.. been done... the whole movie has BEEN DONE. Since thats the case, the best thing that could BE DONE, is to make something truer to the comic than the last go around. So now its time to GIT'ER DONE.. and make something thats reminiscent of the horror, and macabre that the comic is known for.

Got a link to that?

Marvel wouldn't get the rights back for I think 2 more years unless New Regency decides to give them up early if they don't have enough time to do it. Marvel has plenty on the slate to wait them out.

Yeah, I can understand that everything has been done. There' no originality in hollywood anymore, which is why I like it when we see a fresh approach on something that has been done before.

And what was really awesome about the love interest story in this film was that the hero didn't hide anything. He told her and she accepted it. That really hasn't been done before either.

And again, I'm not apoligizing for anything. I have nothing to apologize for. It's not my movie. I just happened to really enjoy it.

Haahahah that scene where Nic tells Roxy that he is the devil's bounty hunter, classic.

One of the funniest parts of the movie and yeah that is not often done/

the whole movie was a hoot. Like I said before I would not have minded the dark version but I think I would still like this version more.

It just cracked me up.

oh please. you know they are not making these comic book based movies to please YOU right?

My dad always says...if you want something done right...do it yourself. Have you ever been satisfied with a comic book movie? If not, maybe you need to apply your complaining skills into something productive.

Just a thought.

isn't that obvious? if they were i wouldn't be calling FF and GR mindless and half-assed. i like most of the comic movies to date Blade 1 & 2, both Spider-Mans, Batman Begins, all X-Men, Hellboy, SR was okay, hell even League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was entertaining! FF and GR are just bad...because the filmmakers don't know how to make a decent flick! we're talking about Tim Story who directed TAXI and MSJ who's only other non-comic movie was Simon Birch...a mediocre comedic drama.

could they not hire hacks to do anymore comic flicks please?
