MSJ talks Box Office, & GR2 and more.

My dad always says...if you want something done right...do it yourself. Have you ever been satisfied with a comic book movie? If not, maybe you need to apply your complaining skills into something productive.

Just a thought.

so yer saying you never complain about ANYthing? whether its a movie or show or whatever. and if you do complain about something, do you always go and try to make or do something that's better than what it is yer complaining about? i doubt it. so why dont you shut yer mouth.what does it matter to you if im complaining or not? did you have some personal stake in this movie? its not like im complaining for the sake of complaining or that im just whining about lil petty things. i think my opinions of the movie being of poor quality are pretty f***ing valid. anyone who says that the movie wasnt poorly made either has bad taste in movies or is blind.actually i take that remark about being blind back, b/c i think even a blind person would be able to tell how bad ghost rider was made. and to all of you who liked the movie but dont or cant admit that the movie was made like crap for whatever reason, yes im saying you have bad taste in movies then. the whole "its my opinion" thing can only go so far.you have your opinions and I have mine, so get off my back about it.this movie was garbage and itll always be garbage no matter what all of you narrowminded folks think about it. and the whole "its doing great at the box office" argument is weak. SO WHAT if its doing good at the box office. its doesnt mean the movie is actually good. it just means that a lot of ppl are either GR comic fans or they were just interested in a superhero thats a biker with a flaming skull for a head. they were all pulled in by the commercials and previews. its not like they heard it was a great movie n decided to go, it was prob more like Hey that looks cool lets go see it, key word being LOOKS cool. ghost rider was lame and weak.

and to all of you who liked the movie but dont or cant admit that the movie was made like crap for whatever reason, yes im saying you have bad taste in movies then. .

1 -> Nobody cares what you think. Especially when it comes to what our movie tastes are.

2 -> Get off your high horse. I'll tell you that I enjoyed it because hes my favorite comic book hero out there, and I finally got a movie out of it. From the nostalgia of seeing him on screen, from the characters I grew up reading, to the unique look of GR, to the voice I"ve been waiting to hear for 10 years, and to see Marvel and a director like MSJ so faithfully behind this character. I went and saw this movie with a friend and my friend and I were BLOWN away. I couldnt contain my happiness after it was over and saw it again the same night with a few other friends. I am a happy camper when it comes to this movie. They could have made GR weaving a shirt for 2 hours, and guess what? ...I'd watch it...twice.

I've seen Ghost Rider 4 times in the theatres, and everybody I have taken or came with me to the theatres, enjoyed it greatly. Frankly, everytime I've gone, (and the last time I went was last saturday) the theatre was still packed. Why? You think in its 3rd week people would say, "oh no it sucks dont waste your money" you would think all those bad reviews would tell people "dont go!" You think your 132 posts would make an ounce of difference...the answer is a big fat NO.

Im sure what your saying about people who enjoyed this movie go much farther than just "they have bad taste" and I'm sure your obsessed with giving this movie a bad rap, but I'll tell you now what you've probably heard before, you're waisting your time here because no GR movie fan cares what you think.

Vent away.

hehehe

you're reckless

but i agree with you

hehehe :woot:

MSJ can direct another, just make the next one more serious. I think all comic book movies should be done seriously unless of course they are comedies in the first place, but superheroes should always be done hardcore and serious.

The Directors cut of Daredevil is one of the very best comic book movies ever made!

1- i dont care what you think about what i say or if you care or not about what i say.

2- get of MY high horse? you and everyone else that liked this movie are the ones who are on a f****** high horse. yer the ones who attack anyone who has a negative opinion or comment about the movie, whether its about how it was made or how they didnt enjoy the movie. MSJ was FAITHFUL to the GR comics? yeah right. im a GR comic fan too, and not this current crap going on. and ive never read an issue where GR would do something as stupid as flip someone off or spit out dumb*** cheesey onliners. i bet you n yer friend were BLOWN away probaly because yer taste in proper film making is SO LOW that GR seemed like the greatest comic movie ever made. if GR was weaving a shirt for 2 hours, im sure you actually would have enjoyed it b/c yer nothing more than a pathetic fanboy who will take whatever he can get in a comic movie and has no standards whatsoever. YOU AND PPL LIKE YOU ARE WHY HALFASS'D MOVIED CONTINUE TO GET MADE and do so well in the BO cause youre ready and willing to see it more than once, like moths to a flame.

youve seen it 4 times with friends? THATs the reason why GR is doing so great at the box office, its b/c ppl like you that somehow liked this movie see it more than once and drag others while yer at it. the reason why its so packed isnt because IT IS a good movie its because ppl like you SAY its such a great movie and add to the Hype that it has n add to its "outstanding" BO so ppl think "hmmm maybe it is good, ill give it a try". and then the rest of the ppl that are in the packed theater for GR are ppl such as yerself who keep going back n take ppl wih you. i know my 132 posts dont make a diff (and its not like every single one of my 132 posts are me saying how much i didnt like the movie), but im still going to keep saying My SAY b/c i can. just as you can praise this movie or say how much ya liked it all you want. do you see me or anyone else jumping on anyone who says they liked this movie? no, we just simply reply with OUR opinions. we dont attack any of you, no matter how braindead many of you seem. and many of those who say they didnt like the movie for whatever reasons always put in valid reasons of why it is they didnt enjoy the movie or why they thought the movie wasnt properly put together, such as its editing n whatnot. many of you who did like the movie hardly put up any valid reason why. its always the same argument: "oh its a popcorn flick","its a comic movie, noone takes it seriously so it shouldnt be serious","we should be greatful that they even made a GR movie and that we have a chance to see him on the big screen","as long as i get to see GR im happy","i dont go into movies to analyze them i just want to enjoy them" ITS THE SAME THING EVERYTIME. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SAY IT IT DOESNT MAKE THE MOVIE ANY BETTER. i didnt go into this movie hoping to hate it so much that i feel the need to constantly say it here. i didnt plan on being able to point out every flaw of this movie, from the way it was made to the way the characters were portrayed. i loved the 90s GR comics, and i was hoping some of what made thos comics so great and diff would be transcended into the movie. but it wasnt, it was a joke. i realize yes they mixed together the blaze and ketch riders, i knew that before i saw the movie and didnt expect it to be exactly like the comics, but i was still expecting it to have been made good. there were so many red flags that went up when word got out that this movie was being made: -MSJ being the director, -nic cage being blaze(too old), -eva mendes playing the childhood sweetheart(shes way younger than cage, it doesnt come together if theyre supposed to be the same age or least round the same age. the young roxanne shoulda been like ten compared to thhe young Blaze, cause i dont think anyone would think mendes n cage look like theyre round the same age),-alot of past comic adaptions usually arent that great. but even with all of those things before i even saw the movie, i let them go, i dismissed them so that i could just sit back n relax and enjoy the movie. but i couldnt, right off when it started the horror that was this movie kept jumping off the screen. im not obsessed with giving this movie a bad rap, this movie is more than capable of giving itself a bad rap thanks to msj. and my"obsession" is my inner fanboy for GR comics, sorry if i cant be on yer side of the line of GR comic fans who enjoyed this movie. and when i say you have bad taste, its not because you enjoyed or liked GR, its because you cant see or realize that it was horribly made. i dont know how many times i have to say it, but I like PLENTY of poorly made movies of all kinds, but i realize they are made like crap n can admit that they are. i could give a rat's *** what the GR MOVIE fans think, im not here for you. i realize that talking to you ppl is like talking to a brick wall.to me, the movie is a disgrace to GR. and i hate when you all bring up other comic movies. this is a GR forum. i dont care about any other comic movie, whether it was made great or made like crap. i care about the character of GR way more than any other one because he isnt held up high like spiderman or the hulk or batman or superman. so when a movie is made about him, it rele should be made with even greater care than spiderman or whoever else because the GR comic fans i think are way more hardcore because gr isnt as popular as the rest, so when its GR's time to shine on the big screen, we want him to be the grgeat not just good or decent but GREAT. so he can get the recognition he deserves.

whatever, i dont even know why i wrote all of that cause afterall, it is only MY OPINION right, its not like you or anyone else cares what it is i have to say. b/c my only reason for being here is to constantly trash on the movie made about one of my favorite comic characters.

if MSJ is directs the sequel to GR, it sure as hell wont be serious or hardcore. its gunnah be the same crap he did in the first one. this guy has no experience in directing comic adaptions (doing one previous comic movie doesnt mean he has enough experience to do another, and daredevil wasnt even great) or even action movies or dark toned movies. this guys roster of movies hes done are GRUMPY OLD MEN,GRUMPIER OLD MEN, simon birch, and big bully. all of em were comedys or comedic dramas. just cause hes a comic fanboy doesnt mean hes qualified to work on comic flicks.

Is there a message board repellent?

He has no comic book movie experience except for the fact he made 2 comic book films and is working on a comic book inspired tv series (Preacher). :o So tell us all how many comic book films Singer made before X-Men? Ang Lee before Hulk? Raimi before Spiderman? Del Toro before Blade 2, Snyder before 300, etc... Honestly are you 11 years old???

I hope GR2 isn't hardcore. I want something that improves on the 1st of course or what's the point. I enjoyed it. I'm glad you didn't so you won't see the next one and we don't need to hear your whining every single day about a movie you don't like. Why bother? If I don't like something...I don't keep going back to it. :whatever:

As for the rest of your blabber.

Wow. I haven't had time to check this thread but apparently the war continues about MSJ and whether he is a good director or not.

I love how everyone complains and says he does a bad job ... yet not one person here is a director so :) whatever ...

The thread is news on the sequel ... has there been any? FH?

This ******ed comment was even more ridiculous than the rest of your post. LOL

Yeah so only the people who liked the movie can affect the box office. The critical bashing and loud vocal negative comments all over the web had no effect. None of you guys are spreading bad word of mouth...only the people who liked it are spreading good word of mouth. Going by your reason the theatre should have been empty on day 2. What's getting you all riled up as that people don't all agree with you and most people enjoyed the film. At least in every poll I see, and all the people I personally know who saw it which is quite a lot...none of which come to these boards.

fine. i give up, i surrender to the will of the of the ppl. i quit. MAY THE PPL OF THE THREAD REJOICE! FOR I NO LONGER WILL POST MY OPINIONS ABOUT THE GHOST RIDER MOVIE.im done arguing over this piece of garbage that you all so love and admire. im though b/c i can rest easy knowing that Im not the only one who can see the obvious flaws of how this movie was made. so i bid all of the grMOVIE fans farewell.

whats the point when all of my comments are ******ed and ridiculous. noone cares what it is i say so why bother. all of my points arent valid to any of you so why mention them if they are so easily dismissed. so like i said im finished discussing the GR movie. but im still gunnah be around at the Hype in the other GR threads. so, tootles.

I find it interesting that all these people complained, yet MSJ made a film for 78 Million that made twice that. That is actually a great result.

The film itself? A lighter comedy with some great moments you could take a friend to and they would like it. The laughter overcame some weak moments.

I for one did not say this was the greatest film ever, but I have seen it three times and I enjoyed each time for different reasons.

No one can make a film that everyone likes. The studio keeps using MSJ because he makes films that appeal to wide audiences and that make more than they cost.

If he makes a second he has the CGI and that was a big part of the cost.

But do you expect a sequel with or without Nicholas Cage to have amazing acting, superior Dialogue and something really really scary?

There is little chance of that Happening because Nic can't act, great dialogue looks goofy with a "Talking Flaming Head" and if you want scary you can pick one of the twenty other scary movies out there to enjoy ...

im so tempted to respond to that, but i know its futile to do so and also like i said before im done discussing my opinions of the movie and others' views of the movie. so ill let someone else say something about what it is you said. i hope dorky fresh does b/c he can always say things better than i can. and im gunnah go to class now so, cya all later.

Whether you liked the movie or not, the Reason MSJ keeps getting jobs ...

Total US Gross $94,810,845
Production Budget $55,000,000
Worldwide Gross $134,210,845

.............

Wow!

Your passion for the source material is refreshing but, I have to say that comic book movies are not being made just for the hardcore fans.

Sometimes Dark toned themes work as a whole and sometimes they do not. I loved the Hulk but because it underperformed a sequel was delayed and what marvel is doing is kind of a reboot.

Superman Returns almost died at childbirth.

So making a film that requires as much money as these comic book movies do studios must look at the other factors beyond just what the fans want.

If BO is not a consideration then these movies can't occur, so you have to have a balance.

It was stated months before production even started that a decision was made to move GR to a lighter tone, because they thought that they had a better chance at introducing an obscure character like this to a greater audience if they toned down the whole "well gee GR you are a demon you know" thing.

So they introduced all these comdic elements to kind of mute that effect.

Well it seems to have worked for them. Sony now has a shot at doing a sequel and giving us more of what we got or improving on it.

As a fan the thought that the source material we hold dear is not as revered by the suits and execs is hard to swallow, but hey I am not a child anymore and what I want is not the purpose of existence, cause then I would be God.

So it appears that this is what we got and are gonna get more or less.

Neverhteless man passion is what we comic book geeks always were. Its our world or was so I can respect your passion man.

Wow!

I hope they go with another director. GR made money, great most marvel movies do off name an huge marketing anyway. GR is a Chris Nolan TYPE movie, not a McG (MSJ) type movie. Directors like MSJ need fantastic four characters that dont need dark overtones an perform nicely with comedy elements.

1- i dont care what you think about what i say or if you care or not about what i say....you and everyone else that blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

The feeling is mutual.

yer the ones who attack anyone who has a negative opinion

I dont attack anybody, frankly, I asked others to go easy on your whiny behind, but it seems, no matter how many times people have told you that they dont agree with you, you still bother to write paragraphs of the same garbage. Next time I'd suggest just to save your arguments, and maybe just copy and paste it so we know that we dont have to expect anything different.

i bet you n yer friend were BLOWN away probaly because yer taste in proper film making is SO LOW that GR seemed like the greatest comic movie ever made.

My reason for enjoying the movie has almost everything to do with me going in with no expectations at all. I didnt expect this to be Batman Begins or Sin City, I went in and expected to see Ghost Rider, and I saw Ghost Rider. Sure the editing or screenplay wasn't on par with what I had in mind (I was always expecting a hard R flick) but MSJ was nice enough to explain the reasons of making this PG almost a year before the movie came out, and he's right.

When I was a kid, I enjoyed the PG elements of the comic (90s comics). Ghost Rider did not kill any innocents, there was barely any blood, a few melted faces, a few cracked necks (thanks to Dea****ch, Blackout, and the cannabilistic Pastor whos name eludes me at the moment). Even the ones with the Punisher tie ins (my first experience with GR in issues #5, and #6) had a few bangs and booms, but no spine-ripping, splatter-fest R material. Zodiac Killer had a few scenes where it might show a shadow of someone dead, the zombie ninja had no blood, and it wasnt until issue number 25 when Dan Ketch was nearly killed do we see some blood, and that was blackened out as well.

If I was 13 again and was first being introduced to this character via this film, I think I'd enjoy this movie and character even more. The comic got grittier later on in the series with the introduction to Lilith and her Demons, Midnight Massacre, Ivan Velez's Vengeance, and Ennis' run on the character in Road to Damnation. The point of this movie was to introduce the character in a general sense to every age group on the planet, and MSJ did a great job. It had humor, it had horror elements, it had action, it had it all.

YOU AND PPL LIKE YOU ARE WHY HALFASS'D MOVIED CONTINUE TO GET MADE and do so well in the BO cause youre ready and willing to see it more than once, like moths to a flame.

Not every movie is going to please you, and not every movie you see is going to please me. Everybody has different tastes and this movie is successful because it had elements people enjoyed. I cant speak for everybody in the whole world, but I'd guess the Faustian tale with Western vibes, and the flaming skulled biker had something to do with it.

do you see me or anyone else jumping on anyone who says they liked this movie? no,

Stop answering your own questions. The answer is yes. You do get on my case for enjoying this movie. For some reason, according to you alone, there is NO reason good enough to substantiate why somebody would like this movie.

hardly put up any valid reason why. its always the same argument: "we should be greatful that they even made a GR movie and that we have a chance to see him on the big screen","as long as i get to see GR im happy","i dont go into movies to analyze them i just want to enjoy them"

Many of those are valid reasons. And your opinion that these reasons are not good enough for you, well too bad, their good enough for everybody else. By the way, Nobody owes you anything.

there were so many red flags that went up when word got out that this movie was being made: -MSJ being the director, -nic cage being blaze(too old), -eva mendes playing the childhood sweetheart(shes way younger than cage, it doesnt come together if theyre supposed to be the same age or least round the same age. the young roxanne shoulda been like ten compared to thhe young Blaze, cause i dont think anyone would think mendes n cage look like theyre round the same age)

I am with you that I also thought Cage wasnt right, or MSJ wasnt right, but MSJ was nice enough to persuade us fans that Cage was the man for this, and that he was gonna make sure GR was well represented on screen, and he achieved that in my eyes. To my surprise, Cage performed very well in this flick. Those little things that Cage did (Listening to KC, Jellies in a martini glass, monkey tv, and posturing infront of a mirror) to make this movie great worked well.

im not obsessed with giving this movie a bad rap,

Uh...sure...Whatever you say. :woot:

its because you cant see or realize that it was horribly made.

This movie was not horribily made. The CG here was top notch, the music and score was top notch, MSJ did a great job at directing, it was in the screenplay/story that this movie could use more work on. Horribly made (everything sucked) to me is Bloodrayne, Catwoman or Mortal Kombat Annihalation. I enjoyed this movie more than blockbusters like Spiderman 1&2, X1, and Superman Returns.

i hate when you all bring up other comic movies. this is a GR forum. i dont care about any other comic movie, whether it was made great or made like crap.

You've got to be comparing this movie to another comic based movie. What the hell are you basing your judgement on then? This movie sucks because only you say so?

i care about the character of GR way more than any other one because he isnt held up high like spiderman or the hulk or batman or superman.

GR doesnt have any character to build on. He's the freakin spirit of vengeance. Hes a force of nature created to torment the souls of the wicked. Thats it. Theres no uncle Ben or Daddy to look up to, there is no love interest. He does laugh a little. Sometimes he laughs like he's insane, and that was shown in the movie.

we want him to be the grgeat not just good or decent but GREAT. so he can get the recognition he deserves.

And MSJ did that, fans enjoyed it, critics gave bad publicity, and regular movie goers flocked to it. Remember any publicity is good publicity.

b/c my only reason for being here is to constantly trash on the movie made about one of my favorite comic characters.

If only you spend this much time working on your own GR title maybe we'd get to see what kind of movie you were expecting.

The feeling is mutual.

And MSJ did that, fans enjoyed it, critics gave bad publicity, and regular movie goers flocked to it. Remember any publicity is good publicity.

If only you spend this much time working on your own GR title maybe we'd get to see what kind of movie you were expecting.

:yay:

Srazy Co....ahhh forget it. Listen what movies do you like that give you enjoyment to talk about with others.

Go there.
