Must Have Nintendo DS Games

I'm sorry... :p

I had the PSP because it had that "wow, this is awesome!" factor at first....then after a while it wore off. The PSP has nothing that I can't play on my PS2, sure, they may not be the exact same game but still.

The DS has games that you'll only EVER be able to play on the DS. The PSP may be a tiny bit ahead of the DS in NA and Europe but at the end of the day, total world wide sales the DS is owning the PSP.

I believe the DS will once again pull ahead of the PSP in NA once the Lite hits, I believe that's what a lot of people are waiting on. Bottom line is if you want to play console video games on the road, get a PSP. If you want to play games that can be addictive for hours, or you can stop playing at a moments notice...get a DS.

The PSP, IMO is more of a media system then a portable gaming system. Which is why I honestly believe Nintendo will NEVER lose the top spot in the portable market, they know what portable gaming fans want.

I look for most of the really sucsessful PSP games to be ported over to the PS2 ala GTA: LCS.

I agree with the anti-PSP sentiment. It's utterly useless, and the games are just poor.

The DS might have a much bigger lineup of great games than the PSP, but that doesn't change the fact that Sony's handheld got a few excellent titles of it's own. And for those of us who can't stand many of Nintendo's often overused and rehashed franchises, the PSP is a decent (albeit not as good as it's supposed to be) fallback option.

Sure, if you like having to endure endless pains fitting a PS2 in your pant pockets and desperately searching for power outlets to play a game whenever you're "on the go", then by all means go for it.

Not exactly. The only reason DS is ahead of the PSP is because it has a better game library, not because the PSP is a media system. Getting more options with your handheld is always a good thing and really, I believe all the PSP needs is ports of a couple of PS1 (with updated graphics of course) and PS2's heavy hitters and it could be screaming past the DS sales figures in no time.

Except the DS currently has more good games with a future looking better everyday.
Again a matter of taste, I really find Warioware and Nintendogs to be very stupid. And some games such as Under the Knife, Meteos, Tetris, and Brain Age just don't look interesting to me. In your opinion they may.

Personally, I think the future of both handhelds are going to be good, though I bet that the Playstation Portable will catch up to the Nintendo DS in Japan a slight amount due to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and other inevitable Final Fantasy titles, but the Nintendo DS will still be the victor of the Japanese market. Because the games of the Nintendo DS suit more to the Japanese market.

However I bet the victor in the North American and European markets will be the Playstation Portable due to games such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

MGS got more hype than PH b/c Nintendo has been focusing more on Wii than the DS for obvious reasons.

That and Metal Gear Solid received a lot of hype this E3. Also, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops just looked cooler than the Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

You forgot Syphon Filter, which was pretty damn kickass. And the PSP version of Ridge Racer was the best entry in the series since R4 on the PS. Racing far or not, I fail to see how anyone can't enjoy this game.

I hate the Syphon Filter games. You would never see me play that load of crap

You have obviously never played Daxter or Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. Great games.

The DS has more potential to be more successful with the WiFi connection and web browser on the way

Possibly. Though 2 games are not enough to carry an overpriced handheld. The Lite will definately help sales of the DS this month, and New Super Mario Bros. is already selling strong.

Obviously MGS looks cooler than Celda. Now gameplay is a different story. I myself will prefer Phantom Hourglass b/c of the unique gameplay only the DS can provide.

You have obviously never played Daxter or Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. Great games.

You have played those if you've played the Jak series or any other GTA game since there is nothing different about them.

Doesn't the Playstaton Portable have those also

I said games such as, not only. Kojima has said that he will make a Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops 2 if demand warrants it. There will be more Final Fantasies made for the system. There will be a Ratchet and Clank game. And I really want a Medievil II remake

I am torn between my love for Metal Gear Solid and the Legend of Zelda :(

So what, it's still fun!

the only things that are preventing me from getting rid of my PSP (Damn you jake the snake!!!) are FFVII Crisis Core...(I'm a sucker for everything FF especially FFVII) and MGS... I didn't like Ac!d and LCS is coming for PS2, but The PSP is cool and stuff, but DS has far more interesting games... Now If Microsoft releases a PBox then we might be in trouble...

Yes, the Syphon Filter games are mostly big stinking piles of turd, save for the first one on the PS and Dark Mirror on the PSP. If your sole reason for avoiding Dark Mirror is because of some grudge you hold against the series, then you're missing out on one of the best titles available on the PSP right now.

That's the point. I don't WANT to play PS2 games on the go, if I want to play PS2 quality games....I'll play my PS2.

This is just hiliarious to me. Fans who can't stand Nintendo's overused franchises, get a PSP for GTA, Metal Gear and FF, Playstation's franchise games. So I guess it's just a matter of whose franchises you like more.

You just stated PSP's biggest reason why it's flailing. Ports is the majority of what PSP is getting and it's hurting the system. Sony made some big promises about the PSP, and after a year it's failed to deliver on them.
Who wants to play PS1 games that came out ten years ago? Basically when you buy a PSP you get a port of something (With some exceptions) and a large library of UMD movies.

It's just not worth the money.:o :down

Sony's MAJOR issue is that they just don't understand the hand held market fanbase. The majority of people who own a PSP and JUST a PSP are normaly more console fans. So, sony gives them game's we see on the PS2.

Many, and I do mean many hand held fans don't want that. That's why, IMHO the PSP will never top Nintendo in the hand held market.

Anyway, I think we took this a bit to far off topic, we already have a ton of anti-PSP/DS threads. A game you HAVE to own should be Partners in Time hands down.

Last I checked, the online wasn't as good as Nintendo's.

Yay! More stuff you can just play on PS2!

I am torn between my love for Metal Gear Solid and the Legend of Zelda :(

Then get both:)

I suppose. I've only played Twin Snakes, never thought much of it.

Yet made for the Playstation Portable. You won't be seeing Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops or Daxter on the Playstation 2.

Then get both:)
Will do! :)

The only difference between them and their PS2 counterparts is the story and a weaker game engine.

Will do! :)[/QUOTE]

My point is that there will not be a Playstation 2 version of those games.

I thought this thread was about DS games, not DS vs. PSP

Anyways, other than Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros. I would recommend Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney. It's an awesome game and really funny too, as long as you don't mind that its more text based.

Well if we didn't have a PSP teh sux comment, like we do in every thread that involves either the Nintendo DS or Playstation Portable, then this wouldn't have happened

My point is they are all essentially handheld versions of PS2 games and not worth the price of a PSP.

But as long as the games remain on the Playstation Portable and not on the Playstation 2, then yes, it will be worth the price. Right now only Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories has done that.

You're damn right I avoid Dark Mirror due to my grudge against the series
