Must Have Nintendo DS Games

Yet made for the Playstation Portable. You won't be seeing Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops or Daxter on the Playstation 2.

One TINY off topic thing. IF the Metal Gear game sells well enough on the PSP and the demand for it on the PS2 is high enough...Sony would port it. It would mean more money for them. Not saying it WILL happen, but then again I never expected LCS to hit PS2 either....

Anywho, Wario Ware Touched is another MUST HAVE DS title. I can seriously set and play that game for hours and not even know it.

This is just hiliarious to me.

Why?

Fans who can't stand Nintendo's overused franchises, get a PSP for GTA, Metal Gear and FF, Playstation's franchise games.

Are you simply reiterating what I said, or were you trying to actually make a point?

So I guess it's just a matter of whose franchises you like more.

Of course.

You just stated PSP's biggest reason why it's flailing. Ports is the majority of what PSP is getting and it's hurting the system. Sony made some big promises about the PSP, and after a year it's failed to deliver on them.

The problem is not just the fact that they are "ports". The problem is that many of those games are ports of previous gen or current gen titles that no one cares about. If the PSP manages to land a nicely updated port for classics like Final Fintasy VII or the first MGS, the PSP would sell out like hotcakes. After all, if Nintendo can get away doing the same with Mario on their handhelds, why can't Sony?

Who wants to play PS1 games that came out ten years ago?

That's the very same question I ask myself whenever people say that one of the best reasons to buy a GBA or DS is so that you can play side-scrolling Metroid and Mario again.

It's just not worth the money.:o :down

For people like me who simply can't stand Mario and his sugar-coated cronies, there is no other choice. :(

That's the point. I don't WANT to play PS2 games on the go, if I want to play PS2 quality games....I'll play my PS2.

In my opinion, that's a poor argument. It's always nice to be able to play great games on the go, regardless of whether they've been on other consoles or not.

It makes no sense then. If your bashing Nintendo for "over using" characters, why not bash Sony and Square for milking Finale Fantasy to death? My argument may be "poor" in your opinion but I've been a hardcore hand held gamer since the game and watch days. I don't want PS2 games in my pocket, that's not what hand held gaming is about to me.

Key word there, me. If it suits you, fine, but the PSP will never tackel the DS with games like that.

First of all Sony does not own the Metal Gear franchise, Konami does. Second, Kojima Productions is making the game and Kojima Productions has said that they are not going to do ports for any system. All games made by Kojima Productions will be exclusive to the systems they make them for.

You can't blame Sony for milking the Final Fantasy franchise even worse than Nintendo milks the Mario franchise. Square Enix owns the Final Fantasy franchise and Sony has no say in it whatsoever. Hence why the first six Final Fantasy games are on Nintendo handhelds, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is on Nintendo systems, and Final Fantasy XI is being ported to the Xbox 360.

The blame can only be cast upon Square Enix.

Twin Snakes was pretty much a port of the original Metal Gear Solid though.

Aside from the completely identical map, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was a remake: new graphics, new cutscenes, new voice acting, and other extras from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty such as the M9 tranquilizer gun and the grip meter. Also this remake was a rare thing that symbolized the friendship between Miyamoto/Nintendo and Kojima/Konami.

Who's "bashing" Nintendo? Why is there such an incessant insecurity among Nintendo fans whenever they argue with someone who is not necessarily crazy about their sugar-coated franchises?

I said I can't stand Nintendo's first party titles. I said nothing about the games sucking or anything. I just can't bear playing them, that's all.

Oh and Square cannot be blamed for "milking" the Final Fantasy franchise because each new installment is a fresh game with new mechanics, new characters and new storylines and whatnot. The only substantial similiarity between them is of course, the title. Unlike Mario or his many spinoffs that are basically the same with only the most necessary updates or additions. Yes there are a few exceptions, but generally it's the same old, same old.

EDIT: Oh and a simple search at any games database will reveal the fact that there aren't half as many Final Fantasy games as there are the huge number of Mario games out there. Nintendo sure as hell milks them good all right.

Kojima is a lousy friend.

Kojima was busy with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, so he gave it to Nintendo, who gave it to Silicon Knights. Having to do a simple graphical update for a video game made not even 10 years ago was an insult to Silicon Knights, who made the critically acclaimed Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, and quit Nintendo as a result.

The Final Fantasy franchise is indeed getting milked as bad as Mario. Since 2001 Square Enix has made or is producing:
1. Final Fantasy I & II for the Game Boy Advance
2. Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS
3. Final Fantasy IV for the Game Boy Advance
4. Final Fantasy V for the Game Boy Advance
5. Final Fantasy VI for the Game Boy Advance
6. Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII for mobile phones
7. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for Playstation Portable
8. the OVA Final Fantasy VII: Last Order
9. the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
10. Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII for Playstation 2
11. Dirge of Cerberus - the Lost Episode for mobile phones
11. Final Fantasy X for Playstation 2
12. Final Fantasy X-2 for Playstation 2
13. Final Fantasy XI for Playstation 2, PC, and Xbox 360
14. the expansion pack Final Fantasy XI: Rise of the Zilart
15. the expansion pack Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathea
16. the expansion pack Final Fantasy XI: Treasures of Aht Urghan
17. Final Fantasy XII for Playstation 2
18. Final Fantasy XIII for Playstation 3
19. Final Fantasy Versus XIII for Playstation 3
20. Final Fantasy Agito XIII for mobile phones
21. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for Gamecube
22. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates for the Nintendo DS
23. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers for the Wii.

It is being milked as bad as Mario :o

Kojima is a lousy friend because he should have gave Gamecube a completely original MGS game.

I thought Silicon Knights quit Nintendo b/c their 2 games sold poorly?

But he was far too busy with Metal Gear Solid 3 and there was demand for a remake of Metal Gear Solid. Hence why Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was made.

I remember reading that they were pissed off after proving themselves to Nintendo that they ended up just simply updating the graphics of a game. And Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes probally sold poorly on the Gamecube because it was on the Gamecube. The console that has sold the least amount of units. Add in a crappy marketing campaign too. The Metal Gear fanbase gets the Playstation brand because that's where the Metal Gear franchise has set itself up into. The demand for the remake was for the Playstation 2, not the Gamecube. But overall, it was still a pretty good remake if you ask me.

Now if they only remake Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the Playstation Portable!

Subjective babble, nothing more. Aside from Super Mario 64, the Metroid Prime series and one or two Zelda games here and there, I can't stand their first party titles. Nothing you say, do or show me is going to change that.

--- expansion packs are counted as a single game since it's merely more content for the same game, which effectively leaves us with only 20 FF games in the last 5 years years as compared to...

I'm surprised the gaming populace isn't tired with the fat old bugger already.

E-Reader games don't count as real cames. The 64DD doesn't count since it was never released worldwide. A lot of the games you mentioned were ports of old NES or SNES games. DDR Mario Mix isn't even a real Mario game, it's a Mario-themed DDR game

Yes they do.

It's still a game nevertheless. And it still counts.

This is about Nintendo "milking" Mario and all of the above is regarded as such.

I did some research on waht portable to buy, PSP or DS. And I'm pretty objective most of the time... And it seems clear as day to me that the DS has a better software line-up while PSP has better hardware. PSP is a great piece of hardware but the games are boring, most are just console ports like GTA and MS potable ops, those are the only killer apps they have. While DS system is weaker and the touch screen still seems gimmick to me, the games are just a lot better. And when it comes down to it, it's all about the games. So in the end DS software line up is substantially better with original content so that's where my money is going... CAn't wait for DS LITE...

No, they don't. The e-Reader games were just codes on cards that allowed you to play mini-games.

Have it your way then. Still doesn't change the fact the Nintendo milks the Mario franchise twice as much.

Nintendo milks Mario and Sony milks FF whether you like it or not.

I'm not arguing that Sony or Square DOESN'T milk FF. Of course they do. I'm just saying that Nintendo overuses it's property significantly more.

Mini-games are not the same kind of game as something like SM64. A simple barcode on a card is not the same as a disc or cartride.

Milking is still milking. Atleast Nintendo has added variety to the Mario games where as EVERY FF game is an RPG.

You certainly seem to be ignoring the fact though.
