MutantCircus Art Thread

LOL. Jeffery. Chris Jeffery. Thanks.

Weird fact: My birth name was the alliterative Chris Clark (got it changed), Chris after Chris Reeve, and I used to like to liken Clark to Clark Kent. Yeah, I'm a second-generation comic book fan. My mom's a DC woman, while I'm a Marvel guy. It's a friendly rivalry.

LOL! Thats great your mom like comics :D

My mom knows about Doc Ock.....she have to be blind and deaf not to as I'm always watching him on TV or wittering on about him :hyper:

LOL. That's how my mom used to get her Spidey info, until I got her hooked on Spidey comics.

MC, love your Bagley-esque Sandman drawing! The first one looked too cartoony for my tastes so this one is more of my style!

Anatomy my friend. Most of these kickass artists have spent years learning and studying and whilst I am nowhere near their greatness, I'm patiently honing my skills.

You definately should!

actually after last time in this thread, i was inspired to draw a few pics.... i drew them from existing comic pics, but did not trace... i will scan them soon and post them.... :)

Just in case anyone wonders why I haven't updated in ages, there's a new supervisor at my office standing in while my normal supervisor is getting an operation on his throat. This new woman, however, is like a Nazi and won't let people doodle at their desks to pass time. Plus she applies a few other strict rules that she herself breaks regularly. Anyway, I'm not going to be able to draw at work for a couple of weeks, so I'm only drawing in my spare time, something I don't have much of these days. I'm working on designs for Venom and the Green Goblin (trying to find a way to incorperate the comic book mask and the movie's body armor together) but I don't have anything post-worth yet. I'll post as soon as I do actually finish something, though.

Cool! looking forward to seeing them! Check out my thead if you haven't already.

And MC, that sucks about the fascist takeover at work. Are you planning on working Ultimate Venom's origin into his design?

BTW for the goblin, I think you should do the exact opposite, keep the high tech goblin helmet(with a few tweaks) and reinvent the suit. But that's just my opinion, do what you wish.

I was going to mainly stick with the idea of the alien suit. I want Venom to basically look like a huge muscular guy with the black goo making him a bit larger than normal and a little disporportionate where it will make him look more menacing, but for the most part just look like an ultra-ripped bodybuilder.

As for your suggestion, I was thinking about that, mostly because the armor is so tough to draw with all the excess detail. As for the mask, I'm slightly stuck as to how static I want the mask to look, because looking at the comics I see the Goblin hardly ever changed his expression, his mouth would just be open or closed when he talked. So I'm thinking about high-tech versions like the fold-up mask that will allow a balance between rubber and metal.

Like that mask idea a lot. And also, that is a good reason to change the suit, and the fact that it makes him look like a power ranger, which a lot of fans still hate.

ON TOPIC, Love the Armani Ock. FF wallpaper rules, honestly the best one I've seen so far.

Woah, good to be back. Had some major computer trouble, and lost everything on my hard drive. That's the third time since I got this computer, too. (Never buy an HP pavilion.) I've got some new drawings that I'll post when I get a chance.

Just a quick sketch I made at work. Hid it before my supervisor saw it. Drawn with a ball-point pen, so it's really rough and I couldn't erase any mistake lines. Hope you like it in spite of that.

I'm quite proud of this one, mostly because it was drawn at work (Hitler has the week off), and I didn't have anything for reference, not even other pictures I've drawn.

Hide your children, for there is no longer Cletus Cassidy, there is only CARNAGE!

I say Ball point Pens are the easiest pens to draw with.

They are, but the ink comes out messy and if you make a mistake you can't undo it, so using a pen without having pencils down first is difficult.

Work in progress:

Ock___He__s_back__by_MutantCircus.jpg

You are honing your skills, and this is a work in progress, so heres a little friendly constructive critisicm: Make the legs (his real ones) bigger, and the tentacles longer (if possible).

But you're doing great! :D

Actually, the legs were the size I was shooting for, it was his body that came out way too big. I shrunk it and it looks a lot better now. This is on a lager sheet of paper than I'm used to, so it's taking me a while to adjust. Here's more progress:

Ock_vs_Spidey_by_MutantCircus.jpg

Spidey is not actually cut off, but my scanner is small so it didn't get it all.

Well like the other guy said, make the legs larger since everything else came out right. Fix Spidey's chin a little and it's perfect. You're getting really good dude!

I'll work on his legs. What's under Spidey's chin is actually a little early shading because without it you couldin't really tell you were looking at the bottom of his chin, so I shaded it while it was fresh in my mind. The rest will get shaded before I'm through.

I also heve yet to draw Ock's upper left (his left) tentacle, but it'll probably make it in tomorrow.
